  1. My brother has one (caspianguy here) that runs very well. His is as releiable as any open gun I have seen. One of the challenges is 170 length magazines but Jim Anglin and possibly one or 2 others can fix you up with weldups that run. Robert L2723
  2. The Hirtenberger ammo dried up 2 or 3 years ago. It would make major in cold weather, borderline in hot ( Inverse temp curve, was designed for shooting out of Sterling Submachine guns in cold weather but they found it was too hot as I understand it so they dumped it here). Ranger is pricey, but ought to come very close to major. Of course you can always find some minor 9 that runs in it and just shoot lots of A's. Robert L2723
  3. You can find a great deal of info on the Grendel at: http://www.65grendel.com/ Grendels are more expensive to shoot than .308. Others will need to weigh in as to the cost of some of the more exotic calibers. Robert L2723
  4. I have had the same issue and believe it has to do with the bullet profile. I casepro all of my brass before reloading and any that I have difficulty with dropping in the proper direction will usually drop in backwards, so I know the case isn't bulged. Robert L2723
  5. Erik, Will the dot brightness be as bright as a Meopta K-Dot or the Elcan Spectre DR based on what you saw at Shot? Robert L2723
  6. I use a Meopta and prefer an SPR but I know some who prefer SPR-E's. As far as the rings go you can get 25 mm ( 1 inch), 30 mm, or 34 mm rings from Larue so no need to buy another full mount when you change; just buy as new set of rings. I dont remember the exact cost, but I believe it was under $50 including shipping. Robert L2723
  7. I have had the same experince with my Pro Ears. My current phone (HTC Tilt2) isnt bad,, but the Seimens SX66 that I used to use a couple of years ago would buzz speakers on a TV that was turned off. I usually leave my cell in the car now rather than dragging it around in my bag. Robert L2723
  8. Neil Keller of Kustom Ballistic www.kustom-ballistics.com Address 1684E 900 N Decatur, IN 46733 Phone: 260-724-3065 sales@kustom-ballistics.com I have seen his work. Its first class. Robert L2723
  9. I am interested in the buckmark, Has it sold yet?

  10. Hornaday Bulk pack 55 gr WC ( with cannelure ) bullets. Using a 650 and scarch processed brass it goups around 3/4to 7/8 inches with and occasional 1/2group at 100 yards out of my sabre 18 inch mid-length. Robert L2723
  11. To Bart's point thoughif you can get three times the reloads out of SC brass aren't you money ahead with the SC using your formula? It would be if you were certain of getting all your brass back. In may case I never do. Conversely, I could choose to pick up my 9MM brass which costs 1/3 to 1/4 th the price. I personally havent tried to get more than 2 loads from the same brass, but others here have commented on being able to get 3+ relods from the same cases. Once again it depends on your circumstances. Used 9 MM brass will most likely always be cheaper than new 38 super. However other things like the price of converting an existing gun that is already in 38 ___ , the price of a casepro, the value of your time re-sizing 9MM brass that may have passed thru a Glock, whether you have a large stash of brass of either caliber, will weight decision one way or the other, what powders you can get your hands on (my 38 super top end shoots much softer with VV 3N38 than my 9 MM top end in shooting Sihlouette). Good luck in your decision and remember wherever you go,, there you are. Robert
  12. When I shot 38 Super I typically lost 1/3 to 2/3 my brass depending on the type of bay surface ( gravel vs grass, etc). Like a previous poster I could usually count on getting back 90% or more after pracice sessions. With 9 MM, I pay $35 to $45 shipped for single manufacturer, cleaned brass that I resize with a case pro. Typically I leave it behind at matches and pick up around 90% after practice sessions. For me the math works as follows: 38 Super: Based on $120-$150 plus shipping for 1000 super brass and assuming I get it back an average half of the brass at matches the cost per 1000 is in the range of $60 to $75 (Plus shipping). 9 MM: the cost per 1000 for me is $35 to $45 (Shipped). Would prefer to shoot Super becuase it is easier to reload, but the cost and not having to chase it at matches has me shooting. Clearly picking it up can happen for either type of brass. You just have to decide what you prefer. Robert L2723
  13. JHP's seem to feed better in my guns, but like Edwin said--Try a couple hundred of each and see what works for you. Robert L2723
  14. Just received the remainder of an order of Winn Primers that I had made with PV last February. They had some other mfr's primers in stock at the time they caled me Thursday of last week (I believe they were CCI). Robert L2723
  15. Tough Break for Texas with McCoy going down. Looks like it could be Bevo on the Barbie unless something changes at the half. The Tide is Rolling. Robert L2723
  16. Beverage entry tool by any other name. Bought a set of rings for an LT107 less than $50 including shipping. They sent a new hat, the 2009 ornament, and some dillo dust which is a pretty good dry rub. Thanks Larue for your support of shooting and all the extra things you do. Robert
  17. The BlackHawk pads work for me: http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Neoprene-...-Pads,169,9.htm Robert L2723
  18. We are using the Hornaday 55 gr FMJ BT with WC (With Cannelure). We are getting typically 3/4 to 7/8 inch groups at 100 yards (ocassionally 1/2 inch) using a Dillon 650 to reload and Sabre or Noveske barrels on the AR's. At longer range, heavier bullets are nice to fight the wind and also move the flashers better. Recently I had little difficulty hitting an 8 or 10 inch plate at 500 yards off a bench using my Meopta 1-4 (Once I remembered to put the bottom of vertical post on top of plate). Robert L2723
  19. They seemed to have some at the wannenmacher's gunshow this past weekend.
  20. I use 55 Gr. Hornaday boattail with cannelure. I get around 3/4 moa out of my sabre 18 inch mid-length upper.
  21. My Factory Trubor in 9MM wouldnt reliably eject until I installed a Brazos Tuned Ejector.
  22. I use the SPR with my Meopta 1-4. I know some do prefer the eye relief of the SPR-E. +1 on them being good guys Robert Adams L2723
