  1. Forcing the shooter to shoot the star a certain way is not fun and not what it was designed for but since all shooters had to do it that way it was fair. Heidit, did you get a chance to watch the better shooters shoot the star? How successful were they? How did they shoot it? Just trying to get a few pointers in case our resident "stinker" decides to do something like that!
  2. That's great. "Total FRUSTRATION is running out of ammo!!!!!!!!"
  3. bones507 Go to ShootingUSA.com and check out pro tips...There you should find tips fro the best of them all JM. Some might help. Check out the others also because they are interesting.
  4. Sorry for your loss! A 21 gun salute and well deserved!
  5. I don't think you could take it off after the table stage...Can't quote rule but it's there someplace. I'd check with USPSA HQ!
  6. Have you tried Montana Gold?
  7. Check with some old shooters (someone who has been shooting IPSC for years). They may have the original add on mag well which was plastic and similar to the Techwell except you don't need special grips. If you find one then you can use it until you save for something better. We used them for 5+ years without wearing them out until something different came along. They might even show up at gun shows. I still have at least one and would not hesitate to use it for comp or carry.
  8. Where did you find the picture? Can you post it?
  9. Check out the picture under the post "Montana Gold 121 IFP". That group is pretty good. You might try some of them. MG says 1000 min. order but if they don't work for what you want you might be able to sell them to someone shooting IPSC or IDPA. It's worth a try.
  10. SA Friday, try checking out the WW reloading web site. I get there by typing in Winchester Reloading Powder. Follow the links. WW, Hodgdon and IMR share this site for reloading data. You can narrow your search to WW powders and etc.
  11. Thanks 41 Mag but I meant what mods are needed on the moon clip holders to make them work for 40 S&W (the adds say they are made for 45 and take modification to work for 40). Someone gave me 2000+ 40 S&W brass so I thought I'd get the 610 to use them.
  12. JJ - Work a lot of overtime to help pay for your new blaster. That will take your mind off of it part of the time. Sleep a lot and take cold showers - that works for waiting for new blasters TOO!
  13. Tripp is supposed to be selling 10 round 40 and 9mm mags now. I haven't heard of anyone reporting on them yet but hear good things about Tripp mags in general. For club matches try loading up some rounds that are sub-minor that way the kids can shoot and have fun and work there way into higher vel. loads. If your local club(s) are like mine they will welcome new Jr. shooters!
  14. If you plan to have someone build your dream gun your not going to be able to shoot it for a couple years or more. Check out the Dawson Precision web site. He has STI guns avaliable for sale at good prices (others do also but he says he will not be undersold). I have seen some fantastic 1911's come out of Wayne Novak's shop in WVa.
  15. How are you checking for high primers? Visually, you might not be able to tell. Try checking by placing on flat surface and see if they rock/move.
  16. If your 1911 already has the dovetail cut use Dawson. For my old eyes I like Hi-Viz green better because they present a better/bigger/sharper dot (than red). I also have a Dawson which I will be trying out on my L-10/L gun this season (Hi-Viz doesn't have a front site for my dovetail cut). Also, check around to see if anyone has one you can check out/shoot.
  17. When all else fails...call Dillon! That's not to say the above answers are not correct or will not correct the problem but that is part of why you bought Dillon.
  18. Maybe this has been asked before but I haven't seen it...I'm looking into a 610 for IDPA (have a lot of 40S&W brass but no semi to use it in). The adds for moon clip holders say that they are made for 45 ACP and need to be modified for 40 S&W. Should I get a 625 instead? What mods are needed? Is it worth the time and trouble? Also, where do you get Rimz clips? This is the only place I've heard of them. Thanks
  19. I have used Wilson and McCormick for years. Load both to 8 rds. I carry both in 7rd in my ccw gun Colt Officers ACP so I trust my life and the life of my loved ones on them. Go with McCormick 10 rounders because they are cheaper (in my area at gun shows) or whichever you can find at the best price - you can't go wrong.
  20. Check with USPSA HQ maybe they can get you one. Get on there web site - I just type uspsa and get there site as 1st choice. Do "contact us" and send e-mail.
  21. Let's take things one step further...What adjustments to my gun do I need to make, if any to shoot 38sc in 38s?
  22. Several years ago we were using WW 452 AA (shotgun powder) for .45. Someone discovered it was temp. sensitive and reported it. WW investigated this and formulated a new powder that was not supposed to be temp. sensitive (WST). This is the first time I have seen reported that this is not the case. Since I use WST all the time I will have to crono more often. Thanks for the info.
  23. I agree. You need a chrono. You make make PF today but if you change any component you should chrono again especially if you are going to a bigger match. Major to minor sucks but minor dq sucks big time!
