  1. More like "Super Sized" woops, I think someone already uses that one!
  2. Word has it the Taurus isn't rated for +p. Be aware and careful. Enjoy! Richard
  3. robert@idpa.com Hope he is able to help. Richard
  4. JR, check out both the USPSA and IDPA sites for rules and etc. They will give you information on equipment, classifications and etc. They also have club finder options with contact names. Call and visit and learn. Welcome, Richard
  5. I have a size 50 CR set up for USPSA Limited. For USPSA SS and IDPA CDP I use a Ted Blocker dress gun belt. This also serves as my everyday CCW belt. Both work well. Blocker is several years old and still gives great support to my gear. Richard
  6. Here it is...... Richard, I am afraid that you are correct. This product would not be legal for use in IDPA under the purposes of IDPA on page 4 of the rule book and on page 8 C1, Competition rules. On their website they make these statements; Advantages • Reduces Recoil Stress on Wrist and Elbow • Reduces Recovery Time Between Shots ( Split Times) • Reduces Muscle Fatigue • Reduced Perceived Recoil The two things that get them are point 2 and 4. The other two would not really be an issue. Thank you, Robert Ray International Defensive Pistol Association 870-545-3886
  7. IDPA headquarters had some leftover vests on sale (maybe too expensive or wrong size) and maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is a company (Smith-Alexander) giving IDPA member discounts. Do a search on the web for IDPA/shooting vests.
  8. .40 S&W wasn't around when I started so I just use my .45 or a .38 super minor for fun. If I had the $$$'s for I .40 I would like to try it also.
  9. Check out data.hodgdon.com for Winchester powder load recommendations. Better safe that sorry. Meaning no disrespect for previous recommendations.
  10. Check out the USPSA web site and use the club finder option. If there is a club close you might find someone there to help with what you want to do or can hook you up with someone. Good luck and have fun.
  11. Blade Tech and Comp Tach (sp) holsters and mag pouches all work well. CR Speed belt system so you can position things the same every time. One statement I read on one of the threads above (maybe out of context) was about not being able to use 10 rd mags. This is true in .45 but not in 9mm, .38 super or .40 S&W. .40 and .45 will make major scoring, .38 and 9 will not. As far as guns is concerned go for it. Oh yea, buy ammo/reload and practice and have fun. I have been shooting since before hi caps were available so SS was it. Then came comp guns then optics. I shot SS again last season and had a ball.
  12. Need to clarify...Single Stack - USPSA or Stock Service - IDPA? There is a difference. New shooters might not know and older shooters shouldn't assume even though this seems to be USPSA oriented.
  13. This seem strange because guys on another forum are raving about the wonderful service from Midway. Should have said "No problems or complaints about shipping either" Sorry
  14. Check with Dawson and if all else fails call Para. I did when I was looking for mags and they sent them out no problem.
  15. Acetyl since no one answered your post I will try to help you. Go to USPSA and IDPA web sites. they have club locater functions which you can use to find clubs in your area. Also check out the rules section. Also check local gun shops and indoor ranges. Some of them post info on local clubs. I shoot both USPSA and IDPA and have for years just because I love to shoot and compete. Hope this helps and welcome. Richard
  16. Randy, since you live in Ill. you might check out the SS Nationals in Berry. I drove in from Ohio with friends to shoot the Ltd. Nats. a few years ago. Neat range complex and fun time. You should be able to see the best of the best by watching the "Super Squad".
  17. Just thought of something else...check to make sure your expander button (on the belling die) isn't too big. You might need to turn it down some.
  18. Did you roll crimp in the crimping groove or taper crimp? A good roll crimp should not let the bullet move. An insufficient taper crimp might. Roll crimp for the most part are meant for revolvers and taper for semi autos. It sounds like you didn't get proper powder ignition due to insufficient crimp. I don't know where you got the powder charge but it seems OK but I can't say 100%.
  19. I have run into that problem also and some times I get a grain of tumbling media in the primer cup which causes this problem. I have no problem with these rounds upon firing. You should call Dillon and ask the tech - they are very helpful. Richard
  20. Terry, welcome. Check out the club finder option at USPSA and IDPA. I used to shoot at a club in Akron which was forced to close - they moved and became Greenport. I still shoot IDPA at a club near Youngstown (Youngstown Rifle & Pistol) and USPSA at Crooked Creek up North toward Ashtabula (probably a bit far for you with the price of gas but you never know). A 1911 in SS or L10 works well or any of the plastic guns in Production/Stock Service (9mm) work well too. Whatever you do enjoy. Richard
