  1. G10 - lots of bite w/ great grip. Not something I would carry IWB. They are black but pics shine a bit. You might talk to VZ grips, too. http://www.vzgrips.com/grips.html Nice people to deal with and willing to work with you on variations.
  2. what match was the local one for you? Did you come down to KAPS per chance? I shot Miaimi Rifle and Pistol - North of Cincinnati. About a thirty minute drive from the house. I should get down that way... Yeah, when you said local that is kind of what I thought you where talking about. At Kaps there tends to be alot of single stacking going on due to we run the stages twice. Buddy of mine got a 90% SS classifier today with a smoking run...he is something to watch with that skinny gun! I'll have to try it out. We haven't been getting too many SS's...

    Man Bags

9"x15" and 7 mag pouches... I bought the bag and it came with this... Expensive Bag! I just got it Saturday so I'm a bit proud.

...when she saw it...hmmm...yes it is.
  6. Quick pics... Figured it out yet? I took it out for its first shoot today...at a local USPSA match. First two shots...alpha. She didn't hiccup all day... but I did a couple of times. vvvvvvvvvv Wilson Combat CQB...(NIB) Black G10 Grips and Wilson Mag well (silver for pimp-points) FWIW I went to the shop (Classic Arms and Archery, Lexington KY) planning on buying an Ed Brown Kobra and they were beautiful but the wilson's seemed more like something I would shoot hard. I had never been to this shop but they were very helpful and had EB, WC, and Les Baer's all out to be handled and tried. They even had a large selection of Wilson parts and pieces in stock (safeties, grips, recoil springs etc.) They also had a ton of high end trap/clay guns too.
  7. Well I scratched my itch... one more in the stable...
  8. I've got one for my STI 1911 w/dawson FO and no problem. I really like it for SS. The lock is peskyat first but with practice I (almost) never forget and given the security I don't mind. I'm waiting for them to come out with one for th X5 and then I'll be complete :-)
  9. I'm sure there is a big difference in build...no doubt. But there is a big difference in cost, time and...they wouldn't meet the minimum produced to shoot in SS class...or am I wrong on them requiring a certain number to be made per year to be allowed? this isn't meant to be the "end all be all" 1911...that will come later. I'm wanting to stay <$2k so I'm not (trying not) to look at new ones, but slightly used...unless you've got a Brazos or Bedell in my price range... Oh...z, I think you have some popcorn in your teeth...
  10. I'm sure of that but in this case I'm thinking like Steel said - brand recognition, great product but certainly not THE best.
  11. OK I know I'm on probation but I need some advice... Wilson combat or Ed Brown...let's say comparable features. And I'm a sucker for black over green...just like airedale!
  12. Half a mind is all that's left... ...and no "plastic" wilson's either
  13. Just after joining the SSESC I find myself wanting another SS. I have a nice STI...but I feel the need...somebody help me. I'm looking at USED Wilsons, Nighthawks, Ed Browns... Must stop...
  14. Sunday Single Stackers here I come! Thanks for the update and all the hard work!
  15. Is there a fax or other fast way to sign up just to be sure? I'm hoping to squad on sunday...fyi in SS. Thanks in advance! Joel
  16. I wonder if this is a good idea for attorneys. (I'm not one). It is my understanding that data has completely different rules regarding warrants and phone tapping as these conversation can be considered data not phone conversations. I'm not an attorney and don't pretend to be (usually) but it is something to consider. Of course who really know these days?? Just food for thought...
  17. I get a lot of that when shooting magtech...ymmv
  18. "We don't beat the reaper by living longer, we beat the reaper by living well and living fully," he said. "I think the only advice I can give you on how to live your life well is, first off, remember ... it's not the things we do in life that we regret on our deathbed, it is the things we do not." Randy Pausch, a Carnegie Mellon professor with terminal cancer whose inspiring "last lecture" about childhood dreams made him an Internet video sensation. Pausch said he was told in August it was unlikely he would live for more than six more months, but that he was now surviving into his ninth month. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,356556,00.html Go live it...
  19. What a steal! SO sounds like your saddle cost almost as much as your frame! Now that is a bike I wouldn't feel bad riding year round. I'm a bit of a weenie when it comes to my fine steel frame in bad weather
  20. Colin? Do you ride Caesar's Creek? Race Butler? Your name sounds familiar... Hard to argue with the blur too
  21. Faster - maybe for me, but longer for sure with the dually. When I get tired or have crashed, etc my (Kona Kikapu Deluxe) dually let's me ride like crap. I mean I don't have to pick lines or worry with rock sticks etc. just keep sitting and keep grinding. I think my hard tail is like an old ferrari (in my mind) sports car. VERY responsive but not as high tech. With no hydraulic brakes to slow me down, only a couple inches travel up front, but man can she carve...and weighs next to nothing. I need to get some pics up...
  22. +1 ^^^ All true Glasses... me too. You can wear "croakies" to hold your glasses on. I think you'll want to wear them not just for the obvious reason. my eyes water when going fast sometimes from the wind too. Several companies make Rx glasses that will work for cycling and shooting...makes 'em only cost half as much...sort of. Again, nice job on "Just doing it!"
  23. Nice job! The giant was a good choice. The shop probably/should give 1 year free tune ups w/ bike. Take it back in a couple of months and let them re-adjust everything shfters, deraileurs, etc as things stretch and seat in for a few miles. Yeah your butt will hurt for the first few rides...bad maybe...it WILL get better. Mine hurts when I take a few weeks off, too ...even with chamois.
  24. 9mm? Does the rest of the JMB snob-club know?
