  1. I had put the bad news out of my mind this morning...now time to face the facts. During the storms last night our electricity went out...electric sump pumps need power so they quit working, flooding our basement. (battery backup installed tonight.) The question is what did you put your safe on? I was planning on raising it a bit off the concrete floor as my safe mover (Pete's Safe moving...fwiw) said not to leave the safe on concrete as it will wick moisture up and cause the safe to rust...is this true...not sure but he IS the safe guy. The water came in and is now at the bottom of my safe so I need to jack it up onto something. The water isn't up to the door just wet wround the bottom. One problem is...this is a VERY heavy safe (American Security) at around 1000 lbs empty so getting it up high (blocks) would be really tough. 4x4's might work or I also have cork floor tiles that I was planning on using in that room anyway but they are very thin and do nothing to raise the safe. Any thoughts or suggestions???
  2. Sorry Flex but that pistol already has my name on it. My luck is stronger than yours! Sorry Dan I just spoke to them and they spelled your name JOEL...sorry guys I'll have to take it from here... ..and since I just bought a new high zoot pistol it only stands to reason that I would win it.
  3. ...and for those who live far from here and have wondered what the term "muggy" meant(rtr coming from CO maybe?)...this may be your chance to learn...lots of moisture on the ground with plenty of sun to help it evaporate....mmmm..."at least it will be moist heat" as stated before did I mention, I CAN'T wait?!?!
  4. The answer to my mag hanging was a dirty mag. I didn't reallize it at first but when I went back to my mags I realized the tube was dirty...not bad but enough to feel tacky compared to my clean ones...my bad. But back to the Robar treatment...his mags were really slick after treatment...no kidding
  5. I really like my Trojan in .45. I bought it from www.dawsonprecision.com. I had Dave do his "enhancement package" for $150 they change out internals and polish/fluff&buff and added a SA magwell. The only thing I don't like are the adjustable sights on the rear...personal preference I guess. But overall it is a great value. YMMV
  6. How about studying the courses prior to a match? The IN sectional has all COF's listed. I have been looking at these to determine mag changes, visualization, etc. Is it best to try to figure these out ahead of time or show up and let it flow?
  7. I too am frustrated by this.
  8. I recently shipped some items Express overnight...After filling out the paperwork and getting ready to pay, I find out they don't have express am for that area...So I logically, say OK I'll take next afternoon delivery...but they insist on charging the premium fee as if delivery by 10 am...grrrr...I paid...
  9. hhmmmm and you seemed like such a regular guy too... Their commercail sure get your attention though. With that much data I think you'd best be served to back up to an external drive...do they make those Mac compatable? I've found that Backup "copies to much better than "backup" files that get compressed and need to be restored...none of this is really answering your question directly is it? I too have data storage issues with shooting RAW and High-res jpgs...even with giant cards...I need to transfer a bunch off the cards. It does get unwieldy when your hard drive only has a couple gigs left and your card is 4 GB...and you've got a handful of those. Between High res photos and high capability cards I shoot too many shots I think...trying to "bracket"
  10. We had the cicada plague here about 4 years ago...they laid in piles around the yards and driveways. The worst part is when the "shells" start to rot and smell. It seems there are always a few that wake up during the "wrong year" (I always wondered how those guys felt waking up on the wrong year) but that was the worst in recent history...according to the news-hype. Hey maybe I could sell some leftover cicada t-shirts?? Yesterday as I was driving across KY (WK and Bluegrass Pky) I could hear them and I was driving 75 mph. And since you asked for recipes... http://www.wlwt.com/news/2968023/detail.html
  11. There's nothing like rockin and rollin with a Beta! No problems here with the 9mm version. The "F" IS for Fun...
  12. ...used to divide money in competition http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:6sXlX...;cd=1&gl=us Now we know...thanks.
  13. Since you are in TX, look up Carolyn Wonderland...she's rather big down there. She's a TX blues/rock singer with GOBS of talent...she and her band played my wedding in '98 in Cincinnati (personal friend played lead for her)...not the typical wedding band...in fact NOT a wedding band at all...much to the dismay of the in-laws. I think she lives in Austin now but tours the state frequently. www.carolynwonderland.com She rocks... John Hiatt is a good move too.
  14. Here is a decent video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEBrkF0sMgI And if prices are about the same go ...nah go with wilson mags ~$30... Glad to see another single stacker!
  15. great mountain biking in the area too. Check out Potawatomi Trail (sp), Torn Shirt and Murray all close to Brighton...might have to take both.
  16. Don't use all your free time to set up and practice the IN sectional courses...unless I'm invited.

    Man Bags

Thanks Flex. I assume you "customized" my avitar tag line for me...I guess it fits huh?
  18. I thought that was the case but it seems they divide each by 4 people and lump others into E class. I guess it really doesn't matter 9 out of 21 makes more sense to me anyhow. I just wondered if I was missing something... Now that $5...maybe I get next entry free??...will ask next time...it is WELL worth the $5 entry no matter how the scoring works! Mucho Fun.
  19. Buy good mags...Wilson Combat or Chip McCormick
  20. I'm new to steels. When I sign up for a match there is only a Division (Type of Gun) and no class (A, B, C, etc) The results show A1 , A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, etc. What does this mean? For example a couple of weeks ago I got C1/$5 next to my name. I emailed the MD but haven't heard back. I can count my position from the fastest guy and determine overall but I'm confused on the ABC thing. BTW...steels have been GREAT fun and I think they are helping my USPSA shooting too! thanks...
  21. I started USPSA last October 07 was 40, now 41. ...started shooting subgun matches spring of 02 ...started mountain biking in 89 (we didn't even have shocks), racing them in 92 I wish I had started everything sooner... Still trying to figure out where I am...Lim, Lim10...but SS seems to be where I fit right now...I love challenges
  22. A friend had a gun and some mags refinished by Robar. They were a nice gray finish but it was very slick. I thought this might be a good idea for competition mags. I also have some sig mags that are factory "slick" although not nearly like the robar mags were. So my questions is...should I polish/finish my magazines so they drop free more easily? Specifically I'm curious about mags for single stack. My McCormick mags don't seem to drop as quickly as Wilson. Is this more the mag or the pistol?
  23. Have you seen this one from the IN Sectional? http://www.wvpps.com/2008Stage09prt.htm It is going to be a fun one. I'll have 6 mags + Barney and I hope none die...maybe an extra for the Texas star in my pocket
