  1. I wouldn't recommend putting much into your Para. If it shoots a decent group from a rest and is reliable, then put the $ into bullets and dry fire EVERY day. I've seen more than a few people dump a LOT of $$$ into Paras and regret it. A good smith should be able to make it work good enough for IPSC.
  2. Update- She is a full blown gun nut! Her eyes shines like a little girl at christmas when I showed her my big guns. She is a lefty but we are going to fix that since at this point she will have to learn the correct techniques from scratch anyway and she is right eyed, as well as unlearn police academy shooting instruction. She is a great student! While were watch tv she actually practiced getting her grip for about half the movie and dry firing. I found a gem for sure. Thats all folks!
  3. Everyting is done on the downstroke. It swages the pocket also. If you can try each I would recommend that. Personally, I skipped the 650 and went for the 1050 because after trying one out it was like shooting a SV after a shooting a Glock. They both work fine, 1050 takes less effort, and I just prefer the 1050 by a lot
  4. Ok guys I'm back, not much the worse for wear. We have so much in common and laughed so much. She actually shoots about 150 rounds a weekend, and wants to shoot more but didn't know about reloading it herself to save $$$. When I told her I could reload them for a fraction of the price, she actually giggled. We are going shooting (guns) on Sunday I'll try to get a pict of the "action" She said my sv's were gorgous, so I think her "buddy" (glock) won't get much action for awhile. Her eyes really sparkled when holding the open gun. That's a good thing too, it was getting lonely sitting in the safe. Sorry guys, no brothers or sisters. Ok time for some SLEEP
  5. Does it float? Nice place!
  6. I went out on blind date with a great girl last night: beautiful, athlethic, smart, funny, and a pistol packin' honey. At the end of the night I she showed me her Glock in the parking lot, and I didn't even ask How cool is that! Woohoo for me, I feel like a lucky dog Tonight I get to show her my toys and if things go like they did last night, we should be shooting by Saturday. Life is good.
  7. I think you use the word inferior too much, and inappropriately. Different doesn't mean inferior. What about Top Law, Senior, Super Senior, Junior do you think they are awarded because they are inferior also? There are lobbies against everything, that doesn't mean it makes an point of veiw legitimate. Oversize your grip and triple the weight of your gun and THEN tell me it doesn't make things more difficult, come on get real. I would love to see you take a gun in the same proportion as Athen Lee to her Limcat and shoot it and tell me size doesn't matter, that would be one freaking huge and heavy gun. What they do with what they have is amazing in my book, I won't begrude them a high lady award.
  8. repeat. YOU CAN NOT SHOOT FASTER THAN YOU CAN SEE!!! You may be too lazy to pay attention to what they are doing, but that doesn't mean it is faster not to look at (through) them. It may be just blur on the target, but that is enough sometimes. I can shoot .14-.17 splits and see every shot 10-20 shots in a row. Just point shooting stuff isn't faster than seeing the shoots. You can (and will) miss targets 3 feet away if you don't see what you are doing. Observe what your sights are doing, if you can stay up with what your eyes are capable of seeing, you will be the greatest shooter in the world, even on the really, really close targets.
  9. I said nothing about that. You said having a category for women was the same as one for people of different colors or religions. I merely pointed out that your argument has serious flaws. to make rules for larger groups you have to look at averages, not extreme examples. On average, men are bigger and stronger than women, that is not sexist, it is just the way it is. jhgtyre, Large doesn't mean strong and agile, and those do have a impact. There are many "fat" guys who are stong, and can be quick.
  10. Huh? You are joking, right? Since when do women have the same strength as men? Sex has nothing to do with color or religion. Yes a few women have the strength of men, but a small percentage. How many women dunk in the WNBA? How many in men dunk in the NBA? How many women could compare with the stregth of the top 16 ISPC shooters? If there was no power factor, what you are saying might make some sense, maybe. Go to your next match and shoot 250 power factor and see if your scores don't go down. I'd bet $100 they would. Why can't they be expected to win? That's like saying seniors can't win, or Juniors. Max and Eric won big as "juniors." It is not the same comparison at all. Women aren't, as you put it, "sub-par" but on average they have much less arm/hand strength than than men. That counts in this sport, otherwise we would have women GM's, take men and make them shoot 250 PF and we would have much fewer gm's. We are not Cowboy action shooters, they have no real power factor, we do, and it makes a difference.
  11. He said limited (uspsa) gun, not standard (ipsc), so my reply addressed limited, not standard.
  12. What's that, lack of total dedication to shooting for 20 years? Practicing everyday and shooting a bazillion rounds? Spill it for us, what is holding you back?
  13. LOL, how does it feel? Closer?
  14. Trinity in Trinity is Still My Name.
  15. $1.39 wow!!! Look at the natioanal average for gas prices and feel lucky.
  16. Erik, I got new pouches a couple months ago and it took me about 20 reloads to get it down. I think a key is to glance at the mag you want to grab and you shouldn't miss it. If you don't look it could be thousands
  17. Erik, Don't discount doing it once, you broke through a mental barrier. It will now be easier to repeat. At the SV Open, my roomate told me I couldn't do the mag catch thing when we were in our room. About 10 trys later I did it, then I did it about 5 out of 8 tries after that. Once the brain acceptes something it is much easier to duplicate. If you want to stop fumbling the mag grab, look at it, it doesn't take anymore time and if you see it, it greatly reduces poor grasps.
  18. 9mm gun and production gear post haste, your only hope.
  19. Ditto on the Shooters connection bag. Well thought out, good size.
  20. Love the JP, never tried the others. Can you say group shrink?
  21. Guy, they are a must see, and the second one is Trinity is Still My Name
  22. Hmmm, I shot this today and couldn't see over the bar if I went kneeling. I just shot outside to inside then droped down to my knee(s) and went back inside to outside on the 1st two strings, on the third string I shot all from the right side, reload when I dropped to the lower position, it was simple and seemed pretty efficient. L10 - 4.4, 5.78, 6.46 115 pts hf 6.8945 Limited 4.57, 6.15, 6.45 112 pts hf 6.523
