  1. Looks interesting in videos, but has anyone played with it? Looks like you cant put a mag extension on it without modifying the hand guard.
  2. I changed all my 1911 pattern guns to Aftecs. No problems at all, don't have to worry about failure to extract problems.
  3. I have one and I think it is one of the best values for the money. They sell a quality gun for less than the cost of parts. Slide to frame fit is very tight for a production gun. The barrel is fit is not perfect, but good enough. The bushing is a bit loose, I replaced mine with an EGW one. Otherwise, factory trigger breaks nice and is made with quality components. Hope this helps.
  4. The whole test of a 590 shooting slugs at a pig vs. a Saiga shooting buckshot at targets on the move was skewed. How about a Benelli M4 vs. the Saiga?
  5. That Green Beret needs to come shoot some IPSC with us:)
  6. http://www.spike.com/full-episode/green-beret-vs/32039 What a bunch of bs, test was totally skewed. Notice the Green Beret shooting a pistol while moving? 2A, D mike, 2 mikes. Embarrassing
  7. Cool pic of an open gun firing. Notice the bullet is out of the barrel and the gun is flat.
  8. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128766753 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=128786456 I hope no harm comes to people who sell factory ammo for $660 a 1000 or 5000 primers for $739 and that they don't choke on it.
  9. I don't know much, but this is my experience. We shot a Millennium Custom 9mm major (MC comp, like the one in your pics), a Brazos Pro-SX (4 popple holes, 4 port comp with side ports, short slide), a shorty 9mm major (with all kinds of popple holes and comp ports), and a stock STI competitor with a 3 port comp. First, the STI chronoed a whole 100 ft/s faster than the Brazo's. The longer Millennium custom gun chronoed a whole lot faster than the shorty 9mm. The combination of longer barrel, no popple holes probably did that. Second, I was very impressed with how nicely the STI tracked. There was a tad more side to side dot movement, but very little if any vertical dot rise. In my humble opinion, based on shooting them and not knowing anything else, the longer slide guns with the simple 3 port comps shot much softer and tracked much better for me. Again, this is not based on science, just a personal feel. If we look at rifle comps, my favorite is the rolling thunder from Benny Hill, three progressively smaller holes, nothing fancy. I am in the KISS camp, three progressively smaller chambers on longer barrels.
  10. I think it depends one the shooter. If you are the type that shoots 95% of points anyway, then the switch wont hurt much at all, but may help you go faster. On a 16 paper target stage, to get 95% of points, you can afford 8 charlies with major and only 4 charlies with minor, the rest have to be alphas. Can you shoot 4 less charlies faster with minor pf? Steel makes it easier...
  11. Most people who get used to the CZ can stage the first shot. Like a good revolver, they can pull all the way through in a smooth double action or pull half way to the single action and then break off the shot. When they draw the gun, they are pulling the trigger on the way to the first target so when they are on the target they are already on single action only. A bit of practice and the double action first shot is no big deal. The single action that is left over is very nice. It is a hammer and a sear and not a striker. I think that the two trigger systems do feel different, like the difference between a 1911 trigger and a Glock/M&P trigger, crisp vs. mushy. Most people can't get used to the other part of the CZ trigger. It is a swing/pivot trigger with lots of pre-travel due to the double action mechanism. It does not land itself well to trigger slapping because of that. You have to find the reset point and ride it.
  12. I am impressed that she can hold the towel with one hand and fire a 44 mag revolver with the other.

If I may... Check breach face, make sure rounds can slide under extractor easily. Check mag springs...

  15. - Internet Advice - I load my TS at 1.17, the max length I can fit in the mag. I also make sure I case gauge every round. If the brass is glocked, it will hang on the back of the mag lips and nose dive. Make sure the case is straight and the mag lips fit it nicely. Also, make sure that your load fits your recoil spring. Too light of a load = not enough slide travel. Too light of a spring plus too light of a load and the gun gets lazy. My favorite are the MG 165 CMJs loaded slightly hot. Makes the gun sing:)) Hope this helps.
  16. I'd like to hear more from the international shooters. What would happen to our sport if we only get a small allowance of ammo per year? (Some countries are like that) What would happen if they start taxing ammo? Fill out forms for ammo? What would happen if the EPA decides that we cant use lead anymore? How are shooters in different countries dealing with more restrictions?
  17. Great post! What do you think of fully supported chambers in 9mm major? Where the case is totally covered and the chamber is tight all around the case? If the brass is held in tight, does the pressure matter as much? Doesn't the barrel take the pressure in that case vs. the brass? Thanks.
  18. Keep a new slide stop and put it in before a major match. No biggie.
  19. I wouldnt use WWB with a light mainspring, it is very inconsistent. We have had good luck with American Eagle or Green Box. If you reload, then a light mainspring, even a cut 13, is no big deal.
  20. You mean like a banana being stepped on? (Pressure gets released and makes it expand once it breaks the peel) In other words, the unique design of the chamber is "squirting" out the cases while they are still under pressure.
  21. I guess it's a combo of: Worn out brass Magnum primers Not a fully supported chamber
  22. If you can get Derek from mcguns to build you an open 9mm, I would take that one. He builds the softest flattest 9mm open gun I have shot.
