  1. I am a big fan of 115's, don't like 147's in the SP01.

How did you like Limited Minor? Do you feel it will improve your game?
  3. Sorry for the hijack... Can someone help me fill in the blanks as to what guns the top production shooters were using? (Having a DA/SA vs. Others discussion) 1 Robert Vogel Glock 2 Dave Sevigny Glock 3 Benjamin Stoeger Beretta 4 Angus Hobdell CZ 5 Matthew Mink CZ 6 Bradley Holt Glock (edited) 7 David Olhasso M&P (edited) 8 Rodney May Sig ? 9 Tony Hawkins Glock (edited) 10 BJ Norris M&P (edited) Thanks all
  4. Sorry, I am a bit confused. Is that for 115 or 124? I load the same for 115s:)
  5. Hey DirtyChamber, the trigger bar was breaking inside them, which did not allow for take down. I don't know more about the breakdowns, sorry.
  6. I wish I could find a twisted wire spring in 9lbs or so. Know of any? The problem is the fully compressed length of the spring. A full length CZ spring does not allow the slide to lock back.
  7. The gun is a CZ Champion, 9mm major. CZ is no longer importing this gun and CZUSA no longer carries recoil springs for it. The original recoil spring is a twisted wire spring, which does not exist in any other CZ. The gun has a full length solid guide rod and a reverse collar. A normal CZ recoil spring is 5", but with the reverse collar, in order for the gun to lock back, it has to be cut down to 3". The original spring is a twisted wire, which allows a full length spring to compress much further and, therefore, work with that guide rod. I have two springs, 14lbs and 11lbs at full length. I cut the 14, installed it and the gun felt over gassed, as in muzzle was dipping down, maybe the spring was too strong. The 11 feels a bit stronger than the original spring (that broke), but much better than the 14lbs. My dilemma is whether an 11lb spring that is cut would be sufficient. From what I understand, a spring's "power" is constant and the length should not matter. Is that right? Does anyone know of a twisted wire spring that I can use? I am assuming I would need around 9lbs spring.
  8. I have the CZ RAMI Poly with SS slide in 9mm. Its about the same size, but you get a reliable 10+1 9mm.
  9. IMHO... After a while, you dont even realize you are shooting DA on first shot. The first pull is taking the "slack" out of the pull and then breaking the shot. If the SP01 is set up right, the DA pull is a clean and smooth 5.5lbs. It feels like a good revolver. With the right trigger work, including over travel stop and so on, the SA is like a nice 1911, clean crisp break. For me, personally, one of the most important parts of a gun, after reliability, is how it comes back. Does it torque? Does it dip? Does it shake? Or is the front sight waiting for you at the exact same spot to pull the trigger again? The main advantage of the SP01 is the lack of muzzle flip and the way it comes back for the next shot. The key is the low bore axis, high beaver tail and heavy muzzle. We ran a Production only match a few months back. We had four XDs break down, some beyond field repair. The real bottom line is the Indian and not the arrow. I have seen great shooters make both guns sing and do well with both.
  10. Goes without saying... Messing with the safety may be unsafe. Go slow, be very careful. There is a part of the safety that cams and holds the sear locked up. The part is not able to slide through, so you will have to remove some material from the cam itself. Go slow and do not remove too much or the safety will no longer function.
  11. Awesome Stu, happy for you!
  12. It's so purdy:) Sights look good:) How do you like shooting with that beavertail?
  13. I never put an uncleaned gun back in the safe.
  14. Thanks Howard! Does 8.0 sound right or did you find that hotter is works better for you? I haven't had a chance to chrono that much yet.
  15. I spent some time at Derek's shop, the man works like a surgeon, super precise and attention to detail. Very nice gun, I am jealous
  16. Just to add to the pile... CZ Champion 3 port comp Range brass CCI SP Ramshot Sil MG 124 CMJ's 7.4 gr 1337 avg with 1370 high MG 115 CMJ's 8.0 gr 1440 avg with 1452 high I liked the 115's a lot better than the 124's. A friend let me try his loads, HS6, and they did feel softer. I shot around 300 rounds of the Sil last night and the gun was fairly clean, no complaints. HSMITH, what did you settle on?
  17. One more question... M1 Tactical division. I am looking for a FO front sight of some sort. Any tips for sights for the M1? It has the ghost sight on right now.
  18. So do you need to use two pieces now? and Is that the best way for now?
  19. How about this mount? Any experience with it?
  20. Thanks Alan, Any idea what their prices are like?
  21. A friend of mine doesn't have time to reload. What sources are out there for reloaded 38 super ammo for sale? (The guy is an M class shooter that just doesn't have the time to reload, would rather shoot) Thanks in advance.
  22. You guys are always helpful, so figured I would come here first. Brand new M1 in the box and I am looking to convert to Open gun. What mods should I be looking at? Comp choke? Oversized safety? Bolt racker? Speed load assist? What about porting? If you could post what you did to yours it would be great. Thanks in advance.
  23. Thanks, but I was actually looking for first hand accounts. I don't own the .40, but I have the .45 and it looks like the same frame. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product...oducts_id/53554 The pros of the Dan Wesson are quite a few: It has one of the tightest slide to frame fits I have seen. It runs 100% out of the box. They use all Ed Brown parts. Nice trigger job out of the box, not competition trigger It has the fit and finish of a custom gun. IMHO, better than Kimber. The cons that I found are: Loose barrel bushing. It is also a blued bushing on a SS slide. I replaced mine. The front strap is very low, needs to much higher. I ended up cutting my frame quite a bit. My ejector and plunger tube came loose after a couple thousand rounds. I ended up doing quite a bit to mine and now, I love it. Hope this helps.
