  1. I stand corrected. Great memory has never been one of my strong points. Is there any particular brand of .22 ammo that never fails? I typically use the 550-round bricks of Federal. Failure rate on these is only ~1 round per brick at the most (my perception, anyway). Had much worse luck with at least one other brand.
  2. You're not kidding. Another video of these guys, as well as a link to a hilarious thread from somewhere else is in the "What I Like" section under "The Mall Ninja".
  3. I agree. I've purchased at least 2 .44 Mag's with the intent to deer hunt with them but never handgun hunted because it's hard to leave a perfectly good .308 at home. Having said that, on a hunting trip several years back, I was sitting in a chair on the ground & ended up shooting a 6-point at <7 yards (no bait - hunting a trail in thick woods) with a 7mm Rem Mag (slight overkill). A 625 would have been just fine for that. You just have to know your limitations. When it comes to ethics (not to mention safety), some people don't need to go in the woods, no matter what gun they're carrying, but no need to start those stories.
  4. Seems like the consensus I remember is that they can be lightened to between 7 and 8 lb and still fire every time. 10-shot 617's w/ DS-10's are a lot of fun to shoot (& cheap, too).
  5. Add another vote for both North Mountain and Ranch Products. Both are great to deal with. I also use the 4 post with a single-post for MR (formerly LAMR).
  6. One of our local shooters had him fix up an XD, and it is very nice. The shooter also commented on how easy Springer is to work with.
  7. I have a couple of friends that are capable of writing the mall ninja jokes just for their amusement, but you never know. Whether serious or not, it sure is hilarious. I'd hate to have any of the guys in the videos come to a match. It would be high on the priority list to point out that a roll with a loaded gun would not only send them home (all of the rolls in the videos appear to break the 180), it would also make for very unfriendly conversation. That is downright scary.
  8. Several birthdays today: dajarrel(55), LGator(27), The Brit.(48), bigj45(34), TTT(34), BMcC(58), hzkrgrle Happy Birthday Dennis (& everyone else)!
  9. Congratulations! When you can't recruit more revo shooters, you might as well raise 'em (in best Southern drawl ).
  10. Great article. The more of this type of publicity we get, the more our sport will be understood and also grow.
  11. Congratulations Gary. May agree with Royce just a little, though .
  12. Makes me even more glad that I pay a little extra for the Outdoor Channel. Got it primarily because of the Wednesday night shooting shows, but the hunting shows are good, too.
  13. Happy Birthday everyone. John Heiter - I got you by a little over 2 weeks (turned 34 on 8/26) . Hope to see you again next year at the MS Classic. Gregg Wheat
  14. Yep, and right now, Jerry has 490.0000 match points (assuming the scores are correct), which means that so far, no one has beaten him on any of the stages he has shot. We'll know a lot more in just a few days, though.
  15. I agree. Eric has to be one of the best to keep winning. TGO is even more impressive to me. Talk about a guy who has age and weight going against him (as compared to the young guns) and has to limp most of the time, yet he can usually still beat the younger guys. Part of it is shooting ability, but strategy is what uses that ability to his advantage.
  16. Congratulations to Bud and Pat, and I hope you enjoy the trip. Also, anyone who considers going to the MS Classic next year wouldn't regret going. They're a good group, and they put on a really nice match.
  17. Everyone where I grew up spells it - "Geaux Tigers!" Based on last week's game, that could happen. The schedule sure looks tough, though. They still have to play Georgia, Florida, Auburn, & Alabama, among others. That's 3 top-10 teams (for now), and one that is headed in that direction. As for the Wildcats (& Vandy last night), it just goes to show that there are no sure wins in the S E C. (Even though I can't remember the last time MSU even came close to beating LSU )
  18. Oh great Chalice Meister.....it appears that the Chicken Curse lives.......WTF?!?!?!?!? Sorry, Jack. Saw that the Condomores covered the 'Cocks again (even the Smelley one ). Trust me, I have plenty of experience at watching my team lose a game they are expecting to win (last time for MS State was last weekend, and it was televised ).
  19. I agree with all of the comments in the dissertation above , and the quoted statement is what I had in mind. It all changes for every division from one stage to the next.
  20. I disagree. Every division has its own set of strategic needs - they may be different, but each division requires careful planning and analysis to pick the most optimal route through a stage. If one appears "easier" on the surface, you haven't grasped the full depth of what's required for that division... You have a good point, and I agree to an extent. However, on the revolver side, I will add that a lot depends on the individual stage. If you have a stage with 3 each 8- or 10-shot arrays with some targets accessible from multiple positions, then the plan for a revolver can be much more complicated than it is for any other division. Just an opinion .

I'll second that motion. We have 2 at our home range (not sure of the manufacturer), and they've been a lot of fun over the past few years. Every now and then, someone will still empty a full mag at one, though. It's been a while, but I've been a victim more than once.
  22. I agree that a spare gun is best if possible, and it would be best for it to be set up like your main gun. As food for thought, I've just started shooting revolver some in the last year and wanted to try 2 different setups (5" versus 6" barrel). My competition gun is a 5" Carmonized 625, and the backup is a 6" 25. There will eventually be an identical backup, but the 6" accomplished 2 things at once (backup gun + different setup to try out). At least it provides an excuse to buy more guns .
