  1. I have experienced both the SVI and STI metal gripe. At this time I have no metal grips on my Open guns. With all the information on metal grips I would prefer the Stainless grip from SVI. IT is considerably more expensive than the STI but of better quality. I am sure down the road the gremlins will disappear with the STI frame. But until then there will be a few problems.
  2. I have HS Smiths mags no jams,SPS mags some nose dives. Sti Mags one them nose diving. My only regret is Howard is not making mags. His were the best.
  3. Matt, Not that you need any more ideas. But when you get the new grip. Just shoot it for awhile and then anodize it later. I am told by STI they will send a new grip for any problems with the grips.
  4. Do you really think it will make that much difference? Maybe it will perform a little better but please tell me how. I read the web sights article and was not convinced. Is it a new concept? No it just a different wrapping. To spend $900.00 for something that still is similar but different is not logical.
  5. 3N37 3N38 for 38 Super All make major and are very clean. Some powder when using major are extremely dirty.
  6. I have owned two Caspian Open guns. One built by EGW and the other built locally and refined by EGW. In the beginning the factory mags were ok. But they had to be tuned to work properly. After tuning these mags I shot my Caspian for many years. I am sorry more attention is not given to the magazines. If they did you would see more of them at matches. I still like their frames and parts.
  7. Lifting weights since I was 14 years of age. I am now 58,lift heavy weights and run two miles. No my stomach does not go over my belt. I worked the street for 25 years and tried to stay in shape and not get injured. I work out three days a week for about three hours. I would rather work out than say I cant do that. It is like a religion. In this sport you must be able to bend ,run and get up from the ground. Staying in shape is a must. Sorry smoking is the worst thing a person can do to his health. I have bored most of you guys. Maybe its because I am getting old. For you men on the street I know it is difficult to stay in shape with the hours we get. But you will find if you do work out you will feel much better.
  8. I have sent them a couple factory pistols and they came back with out a problem. Chris is a great guy to speak with,he will fix this grip nightmare.
  9. Looks great. Let us know how it shoots. I love the racker. I will buy the mount and racker. Good luck with your new Cheely Pistol.
  10. I had a problem with one of the screws and contacted the company by the web. I received the all screws in a couple days. Try e-mail to ghostinternational.com. I don't know if it is still up.
  11. Yes Gary is a great Gunsmith. My last Open gun was built by Gary. Sorry 38 Super. But his gun has never jammed since I received it.
  12. I have a Buckmark. I love the Limcat and it still is on my mind.
  13. Chris Peters of Metaloy just did my EGW pistol. I put it together and shot it with 100 rounds with no jams. Chris has been doing hard chrome for many years. He knows what he is doing. This is the fourth pistol he chromed for me.
  14. Just for information. I ordered 20 thousands Winchester primers from a known company 14 months ago. Have found primers from other companies for about the same price $24.00/thousand.
  15. As previously stated there are many variables why your ammo is not going into the barrel. For myself when I was using Dillon resizing dies my bullets would not go into the brass checker. When I switched to EGW u dies that completely stopped. I have loaded 9mm major and still used the u die for it. Again someone said try using new brass and you should try that. You stated factory ammo worked fine. Sometimes the chamber on barrels are also too tight. Both of my loaders 650 and 1050 have U dies. On the 650 the brass has a little problem sometimes going into the die. I have played with this until it is almost gone. Try not to make your bullets longer than a standard 9mm and see what happens. Even if you don't use the new die try new brass. I am sure it will make a difference. I am still shooting 38 Super which is not as difficult as 9mm major. Good Luck.
  16. My is in my garage and I hate it. During the Winter I will not load ammo. I am looking to move the 650 and 1050 inside. They are lonely out there.
  17. I use a EGW U die and crimp my loads. When they go into the barrel nothing stops it not even the edge of the brass. I have seen many jam this way and have crimped my brass for many years. It will drop into the chamber checker and the barrel.
  18. I started out with 38 Super. I then tried 9mm Major and went back to 38 Super.Three Open Guns EGW,Gans and Bedell. All work like a racer.
  19. If possible buy the Super 1050. Like the members said older 1050s will not load all rifle cases. But the older 1050 should load 223. Just call Dillon if you are not sure.
  20. Just got one of my Open guns back from Metaloy .Used red locktite ,shot it and nothing came loose.
  21. You have to agree Limcat is from another planet Love everything he does.
  22. If I was just starting out with Open. I would go with 9mm. It seems to get better as more different powders are used. I have been shooting 38 Super since the beginning and now its hard to find brass.
  23. If your hammer is following you have a problem. Your pistol is not safe. Have the safety, sear and hammer replaced. If anything the sear. Your pistol may double or automatic.
  24. I have had checks sent to me in large amounts to purchase firearms. All were fake and from different banks. I have notified different web sights about fraud purchases. I have been notified by Law Enforcement about my identification being copied. I was in Law Enforcement for 25 years and the web is the new crime. It is almost impossible to stop your identification from being used and copied. Notify all your banks that your accounts should be flagged. All banks now have files on fraud and theft due to scams, checks, by criminals.
