  1. I had the same problem. I actually paid a local gunsmith $81.00 to remove one screw. I went to a hardware store and bought the easy out tool to remove broken screws. Believe it or not I used a hand drill to make a pilot hole to use the easy out. I now no longer need to pay $81.00. It is not that difficult. However it was difficult to drill a$4000.00 open gun by a non gunsmith person.
  2. In reference to Phoenix Trinity. If they have a minimum that is unfortunate. If a dealer has an FFL,State Lic where required and tax resale number. The dealer should be able to order a frame. The frames are well made My own gunsmith who has made many Open Guns for me also reccomends them. I have seen this type of restrictions before. It is unfair to the dealer and the shooter.
  3. I put my brass near my furnace. I first tumble the brass, shake it remove the pins. I do not remove the primers. I reload on a Dillon 1050. I leave them near the furnace whuch heats a 50 gallon water tank. Usually for 24 hours. Come out nice, warm and dry.
  4. I have heard all the problems of STI Open Guns. This is not a new article. All my Open Guns are built by a known Gunsmith. There are many out there. For what a STI DVC Open costs a known Gunsmith could have built your Open Gun. Take a look at the new CK Open Guns. They are built by a good Gunsmith and they work. Again many articles on CK Pistols. I am sorry you are having this problem it is not new to me. Before STI Company was sold they did not have this problem
  5. I have the same problem with the KKM barrel. This is now the second KKM barrel that key holed . One of my Open guns now has a new barrel. The other one I changed the bullet, checked the crimp and it worked fine. However I now have a new Schumann barrel if I need it.
  6. CK Arms .You will never regret purchasing this pistol. Reputable Gunsmiths and reliable competition pistols. Also superior parts used in the manufacture the pistols. Check web site many have already used their pistols in competition.
  7. You can also send it to Dillon. They will refurbish it for you and estimate the cost. It will be worth the money. I bought a new 1050 many years ago. Sent it back and was better when it was returned. It is something to consider. .
  8. Buying the CK Open Pistol will never be a mistake. All parts will work for many rounds. Not break when you least expect it. Plus they back up their pistols.
  9. Two Dillon 1050's are the best for me. Any Dillon reloader is great. Just choose the one you need. You will never make a mistake.
  10. Just tried the white vinegar on my C-More lens. I was amazed how it cleaned the lens.
  11. My load 9 mm Major,no holes ,Montana Gold 124 Gr Jacketed, Hollow point ,7.2 gr Auto Comp 170 power factor. But have not been able to buy Auto Comp all year.
  12. I agree with Caspian Guy. I Case Pro all my used 9mm Brass. All work great . I tried to use 9mm brass without the Case Pro. I then had some jams Even when I checked the brass it still had some jams. But the Case Pro makes them go away.
  13. I have four Cheely Mounts on my OPen Guns.
  14. I am going to tell how my one Open Guns worked with different bullets. Certain bullets looked like a shotgun ammo. I could not understand why . All my Open guns are made by great gunsmiths. When i changed the bullets I was astonished how they were different. I found that this is not rare. Sometime bullets are better than others. You may want to try that.
  15. On June 7th I shot a match at the Watervliet Practical Shooters Club. The matches are run by Chuck Vanalstyne and MaryAnn Melisi. I have been shooting monthly matches there for years and some Aware Matches also. But attention and credit must be given to this club. The match was run in a professional manner with competent Range Officers and assisting members. The stages were well planned out with speed and accuracy. They also supplied at each stage a cooler of ice cold water. A very nice consideration. Congratulations to Chuck and MaryAnn for a well run match.
  16. I have been using Autocomp and VV37 and VV38.. I still like Autocomp for both 38 Super and 9 MM Major. At the the last big match my 38 Super, 170.power factor.
  17. Winchester,Federal,CCi or any rifle small primers.
  18. I hate to say this if your gunsmith dosent know. You have a bigger problem. I had a local gunsmith make an Open Gun many years ago. It solved my problem. I would only let known gunsmiths work on my pistols. I have found Open Guns are a different animal. You get what you pay for. If his name is not known good luck. Some are very great gunsmiths. They soon become known. But If one does not know what the problem is I am sorry for you. Another question is what is the ammo you are using?
  19. CasePro 100. is the best for all reloads. I stopped using the U Die. I think I have five of them. Anyone want them?
  20. Any FFL License can send any firearms through the US Mail. They have never lost one for me.
  21. Outstanding work. Should be a racer.
  22. I have all my open guns with Hard Chrome. However I only hard chrome the slide and the frame. I never hard chrome any of the trigger parts and ejectors.
  23. You can send it back to STI International. I have found that some mags which will always jam . NO matter how much they are tuned. Some of my friends have actually thrown out mags that dont work. I have HS Smiths mags which are worth gold . I also have Superior Tuned mags from Shooters Connection which are wonderful without jams.
