  1. What makes the X300 "better" than the TLR-1 and X200? X300 vs. X200. No comparison, the X300 is brighter, lasts longer and depending on the age and generation of the X200 (A/B or flat vs. coil springs for battery contacts) Any SureFire vs. Streamlight or Insight. Based on my limited sampling of about 500 officers a year, the SureFire is waaaaay more durable. Other than the issues with the flat spings that have been fixed, I rarely see a SureFire go down. When I do it's always due to the crappy batteries that the Department buys. If there is a TLR or M3 on the range I expect it to fail, and I'm usually right. The TLR's are much better than the M3's but still not up to the durability of the SureFire.
  2. So what if we change the Coreplast soft cover to snow fence. They are still covered completely but easily visible. Or if you want to argue that snow fence has enough holes that it's not covering 50%, then we use Saran Wrap, nice and clear, as soft cover. Is the stage legal now? I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that the calibration circle is not available since it's behind soft cover. I've seen several stages setup with soft cover completely obscuring the targets. You can see through enough to tell where the target is, but it's still obscured.
  3. I emailed Kim to try and get the current registration numbers. Might be a little bit before I hear back. HQ is tied up with the Steel Challenge.
  4. I seem to remember a petition with 12 names on it saying they would shoot the Multi Gun Nationals in HM Limited if USPSA changed the rules. We did, so surely there are at least 12 registered right?
  5. I freaking loved this movie. Guess I'm in the minority. But then again, I'm a second rate potty humor kind of guy.
  6. I ended up winning some STI contingency money so I picked up an STI Master series frame, tri-topped slide and some other small parts. My smith has a connection with Caspian so I'm using their shroud. I was also a bit concerned about going with the Gilmore for long term availability. For barrels, I've got two from Schuemann coming, an AET and 1:32 twist Classic. We're using the gun for a bit of a test case. We'll fit both barrels and try accuracy to see which is better. I already have the prone mag well from Protocall and I'm just waiting to sell a couple things so I can swing the mover base and optic. Then the whole pile will go to the gunsmith. I'm hoping to have it done before the end of the year.
  7. Looks like Tac Optics at this point. Ended up flying to the match and only have room for so much gear.
  8. Details and schedule are on the USPSA-Nationals site. Long story short, Shoot Fri and Sat then Sunday morning. Registration is Thursday night. I'm there, I just sent in my App, the day after the late fee kicked in. oops.
  9. .45 Only, 10 round limit, no requirement to flush fit the magazine. Doesn't matter what gun you use, 1911, 2011, 625, Glock 21, Sig 220 or whatever.
  10. I just hit play, worked fine for me. No credit card needed. Pretty cool too.
  11. So if I was looking at Aimpoint, which would be the best Aimpoint? Comp, M2, M3 or M4? Not really into the Micro. I've had Comp XD's and had switch problems. I've got an M2 now on a rifle with way too big of a dot, but it's been reliable and I know I can get another with a 2 MOA. I've also got an M4 on my work rifle with a 2MOA dot that is rugged as hell but a bit on the heavy side. Is weight really that much of an issue? I'm leaning towards another M4 because of the battery life and durability. Any negatives to it?
  12. Hi Bill, good question. To answer this I took a look at the dimensions (x & y (no z)) of a couple of commonly used semi-auto shotguns. For example, the FNH-SLP is 7.9" or appx. 201mm tall. The Benelli w/o the pistol grip was similiar. The pistol grips adds approximetely 1-2 more inches. However, since pistol grips are allowed in division I would propose that the shorter side of the rectangular box be sufficient to allow pistol grips. And height (z coordinate) should not be an issue as most 3 gun shotguns typically are running a bolt handle. The rationale behind the proposal may have two positive outcomes, including: an allignment with the IPSC Modification Rule; and standardization between USPSA multi-gun matches and non-USPSA 3 Gun matches, ie, RM3G...etc. I'm not familiar with any IMGA/Outlaw matches that have length restrictions on the shotgun anymore. I know SOF and a couple others used to have a 22" restriction on the SG but I haven't seen that for years. IPSC is currently looking to do away with Modified so I don't think it would be wise to make our rules the same as a soon defunct division. What benefit would be derived from this? As it stands now, if I have a Remington 11-87 with a 26" barrel, I can put an appropriate extension on and shoot Limited or Tactical. I sacrifice a bit of manueverability but it makes it a lot easier to get someone involved with the SG they have. They can upgrade later or just cut the barrel off. I guess I just don't see an advantage to further restricting this division.
  13. For some reason the boxes got shifted a bit. Read it as Magazine Round Count Limit, the Magazine got bumped up a line for some reason. Everything is the same as before. 8/10 in the mag, chamber is up to you, same as in all other USPSA Divisons that have capacity limits.
  14. That's the only one. When I asked John about it, he said it wasn't a change, but a clarification from NROI. The rule should always have been applied in that manner.
  15. I know you were kidding, but for people trying to make sense of the new rules we were really drifting a bit into a long section on which loc-tite will be allowed (none because the scope won't be allowed). I know I'd fell awful crappy if some new guy showed up at your (or any) match with a loc-tited Millet DMS-1. And whether it's a level 1 or not, Division rules are Division rules, there are no Level 1 exemptions for that.
  16. Not unless something changed without telling the AD's. Since the book hasn't really changed, just incorporated the modifications over the last couple years, USPSA was not planning to print 18,000 copies to send to all the membership. The plan was to print enough to give to new members/new RO's and a few extras to make it through to the next planned rule book change, which should be coming up in a year or two. We had to print some now because USPSA is out and doesn't have any to use for RO classes and new members. There just isn't anything new in this book to justify the expense of sending out new copies to everyone.
  17. Yep, no aftermarket springs. Grip tape, in the areas shown by their diagram, a mag release from a G21, and Sevigny sights are the only mods I do to a 17 to be legal for IPSC.
  18. Not if you are running this as a USPSA match. All kidding aside, tackwelded, loctited, superglued or not. The rule is non magnification scopes, not magnified scopes turned down. A 1-4 set to 1 is not allowed. This is not a rule the match director can fudge on.
  19. Stick Shifts still in stock? Just about ready to order one up and wanted to double check.
  20. With only 5 events for the year they have to spread the shows out a bit. I'm guessing the format will be match coverage one week, shootoff the next. That will give them 10 weeks. They'll probably have a bit more than two weeks dedicated to the final championship and shootoff to make up the rest of the season.
  21. Ed Marshman A and Scott Warren GM, both FBI, which I guess is close to being a cop.
  22. I bought Blade Tech mag pouches for the Saiga. I carried two on a thigh mount and one in the small of my back. Seemed to work OK, but nothing awesome. Robbie makes kydex clips for the mags that were cheap and seemed to work just as well, I just didn't have enough pockets to clip enough mags on for the Ironman.
  23. I wish they'd worded that differently, then, because it reads to me like they're dropping Time+ entirely, and I already bitched out my area director over that (even though he voted against all of this!). The update is coming and will make everything crystal clear. The way the rules were presented for the vote it was very clear what was being voted on.
  24. Time Plus is allowed for all levels of multi-gun competition now. All of the Multi Gun rules are still on a provisional basis that has been extended to December 31, 2010. Basically MultiGun is still a trial basis.
  25. Keith Tyler, Vancouver PD cop and Open GM. I've seen that Anderson guy shoot and he sucks.
