  1. I'm just used to having one method of scoring a match. Don't really care what it is. Just different changing every stage. But yeah, I'm not used to having points anymore in 3Gun. Wanna make it hard, make the targets tiny. Again, don't care, just curious. I've got a trade going on a 2011 .45 pretty much just for this match. If I don't need it is like to know.
  2. All kidding aside, I'm really not sure what pistol to shoot? The only .40 cal 2011 I have anymore is a 6". I'm thinking about just shooting a .45 and reloading a bit extra, or my 9mm. How is this thing really scored?
  3. 3.2. Scoring the RESURGENCE target is as follows: ZONE MAJOR MINOR A (8” circle + head) 10 10 B (12”x6” CM) 8 7 C (REST OF TARGET) 6 4 X.XX Tutu: Any shooter wearing a tutu must also wear at least 2 layers of DARK colored OPAQUE full length tights. If the required number of DARK OPAQUE tights are worn under the tutu, no bushwhacking is required. I hope (This means: I don't care if) this answers your questions..... ericm Not really. What do the points mean? I can't remember how this dang thing was scored. Comstock, neutralization based on points, some strange method determined by the fastest to sacrifice a chicken using their front sight?
  4. How sure are you on the dates? My first match was the end of September 2001, in Vegas. I thought it was still an SOF match, but who knows. I know I shot the WC3Gun after that. Can't remember if I shot 2 or 3. I do remember finishing 10th at the last one. And wishing I finished 11th because of the way they did the prizes.
  5. This would make a lot of sense as an extension of the maximum weight rule but you'd have to have three different minimums for the three standard lengths of 1911 slides available. It would also require the gun to be taken apart at Chrono. Something that hasn't been required before. And probably shouldn't be.
  6. Just for those thinking about dropping out of this match. You will regret it. I missed the first Ft Benning match. There wasn't a lot of information about it and couldn't justify flying across the country. One of very, very few matches I regret missing out on. If you have a slot and give it up because you don't have some info you will regret it as well. Bring your gear. They will get it figured out. The Army isn't going to leave two hundred heavily armed three gunners standing outside the gate. It will work out. As far as why people haven't squadded. Who cares? I usually don't squad because I like shooting with new people. (OK, usually no one wants to shoot with me twice). The only reason I squadded for this was to mellow Jim out. Short version is chill out. It'll work out and the match will be awesome. Daniel told me if anyone doesn't have fun they can take home a free Striker. (I might have made up that last bit).
  7. I'm just surprised by the tone here. I haven't spent a lot of time on Enos lately but returned expecting the same level of respect I came to find here previously. Profanity, disrespect, and an almost complete lack of anything resembling a constructive comment (not including Pat's). Bummer.
  8. The big names used to use light bullets because the Steel Challenge used a wired stop plate. The faster the bullet got there, the lower the overall time. That's why you never saw 147 grain SC loads, even if they wanted to try pushing them at 100 PF. Since USPSA did away with the wired plates a couple years ago and went to last shot fired it's really not a big deal. The old guys still using the mousefarts have been using them and don't see the need to change. If someone wants to shoot 125 they really aren't at a disadvantage.
  9. Don't know what to tell you on the Smith. Several people managed really good scores with it. Seemed to be sighted in OK. My guess is trigger control. We had one guy get debris on the lens that caused a split dot. He had two different dots that shot to different spots.
  10. As much as I hate to do it, I have to disagree with Comrade Kelley. If you don't finish the race, you didn't win. I've seen lots of guys in the lead, dominating the match, until the last stage and blow it. The scoring system doesn't really matter if you DQ on the last stage, or just tank it. I watched an unnamed Junior Shooter from St. George, UT run around on his last stage trying to find shotgun shells off the ground to avoid 5 seconds in penalties. He spent about 15 and lost the match by about half that. The person with the lowest time/best score at the end of the match is the winner. Not the guy who's leading going into the final stage. Of course that's the only thing that saves me. I rarely win stages, but i'm usually consistently not sucky. By the end of the match, I just hope I suck less than everyone else. As far as the difference between total time and stage points, I prefer stage points, but don't really care that much. What I usually see is total time has the most effect on Newbs. Guys that can take a single stage and spend more time on it than the winners total match time. It just sucks to come in as a new guy and get beat down that hard. At least with stage points you can say, "Hey, you got 30 points on that stage, good job!" For the guys at the top it rarely has significant effects on the overall outcome of a match. I've seen it have some changes but it's more the exception than the rule.
  11. The stages are speedy. So Lots of folks going way too fast missing dump barrels, cough Lena. There was a stage or two with those "don't shoot targets A&B past this fault line at 160-180 degrees. Several shooters broke a shot over the lines almost breaking the 180. Good thing about the fault lines is there is a discernible line telling you not to shoot past them. You just gotta listen to the stage brief and keep a good awareness of yourself in space. Those complex and speedy bay stages can get you twisted up and backwards in a step or two. I had the live stream paused from yesterday and just went back to watch it. What happened with John Mcclain on the second bout with Daniel Horner? Looks like he DQ'd while checking sight picture on the pistol. Edit: NM. He just explained it. Yeah bad deal. Could have been a $45,000 mistake. Lesson learned: Never let anyone interfere with your make ready or unload show clear process. Was that a DQ during the shootoff? Or during the 3GN National Match? Never seen them do a shoot off bout DQ but let the person continue in the shootoff. And they've had DQ's during the shoot offs before.
  12. I thought it was pretty heavily biased towards things 3 gun shooters are good at. Five of the stages would have been right at home in a three gun match. Either as a whole stage or a part of one. Of course I sucked at almost all of those stages. Did the best at the non three gun ones.
  13. Can't commit to a staff spot just yet but if you need someone to help with setup or whatever I'll probably be there.
  14. I let AJ at the range know. We didn't have any gear turned in and I didn't see it during tear down.
  15. Larry, looking like I might be able to make this. I'm in Tennessee till Oct 19. Might as well spend a couple days afterward at the Rock. Couple questions. Do you have the list of stages yet? And is there anything I can do to help out for a day or two when I get there before the match?
  16. Daniel has been at the WSC this week. Talked to him a couple days ago and he said at that time there were still 18 slots open. So it sounds like everyone who registered, at least the first night, is definitely in. I'm going. I missed the first Ft Benning match and I've been kicking myself since. I'm not missing the reboot. They are also working on securing a match hotel. Should be soon.
  17. In case anyone needs chamber flags, Gunnar An from JP Rifles is bringing a couple hundred. If you need them he'll be at the shooters meeting. He's also shooting the WSC so he'll be around if you wanted to pick them up earlier.
  18. Talked to Cole. Independence range will be available for sight in. All competitors need to follow the usual public range rules. Chamber flags, cases all that stuff Also the range is requiring chamber flags for all long guns. I know it's short notice. If you have them, bring them. If you already left or don't have them we should have some available here.
  19. I'll check today but with all that's going on here I wouldn't count on it. Possible though.
  20. Got a lot of set up done today. All the stages are roughed in now. We'll get the rest of the setup crew on site tomorrow and get this thing nailed down. Rained on us pretty good today but the weather report looks better as the week goes on.
