  1. C'mon Jesse, man up. You spend more that that a year in box wine.

    Mine came with Medium.
  3. I've always had to download the magazines in my STI/SV guns. I'm too weak to lift the gun when it's fully loaded. That's why I shoot L10 with the STI and 3 Gun with a Glock.

Sorry, still trying to play catch up. I haven't had a chance to measure the pull weight but I would be really surprised if it's 4.5. Had a chance to shoot it a bit on Friday and more in depth on Sunday. Still not 100% sold on it but it has promise. Still working on the right spring combo, but for now it's heavier than I expected. I'm having a bit of a retraining issue going on as well. I usually shoot with my wrist locked up tight. But the angle of the Sig is just different enough I found myself having to relax the wrist and it showed up as significantly more muzzle flip. Need to spend a bit of time on the gun to get the wrist trained up.
  5. Yes, you can read here the agenda for the meeting. http://uspsa.org/document_library/2015/Jan%20Agenda%20Announce.pdf And before you look them up the bylaws listed for review have nothing to do with the Steel Challenge.

It's not the ACCUs fault. CZs qr the fabulous guns. I just have large hands and among other things I wanted to see whether a gun with a larger grip option would got me better and minimise my current issues with pulling that trigger straight back. Also, I really love to tinker and the modularity makes the P320 a great platform for that. As of now I have 4 grip frame modules that I am doing different modifications to for different purposes. I will say that I am not giving up any accuracy by moving to the SIG. For me it's as accurate as the ACCU. I still need to have trigger work done on it (it's at 6 Lb currently) but in USPSA competition I don't feel that I am worse off from the CZ because it's a crisp and short trigger. Just got mine from Bruce. Go to your safe, put your Sig in a box and ship it to Bruce. You won't regret having him do the trigger.
  7. John was the Director of the National Range Officers Institute for a long freaking time but retired in 2014. Troy McManus took over as DNROI. Phil Strader is and has been the USPSA President for the last couple years.
  8. Weird. I had a LMOS in my first rifles from JP, back in the early 2000's. 01 or 02? Never wore that one out, haven't worn any of my current ones out either. But I'm not big into practice either. My rifles probably only get 10-15K (and that's probably high) before I sell them off and buy something else new and shiny. As far as the expense, if the rifle saves me one 5 second FTN penalty from a match and that bumps me up a couple spots, it's worth it to me.
  9. Is that why you won't have a beer with me? Oh wait, you said top shooters. One thing I do like about Arizona is the consistency it's had over the years. When I started shooting USPSA I had a match or two I could shoot every weekend. They were quality matches. When I moved to the Willamette Valley in Oregon I could shoot as much as I wanted and never have to drive more than an 1 1/2 hours to get to the match. Most were half an hour away. Over the years the quality of the matches has gone up and down depending on who is running the program. The smaller the area and the less involved shooters the quality can go down more easily. If you have a group of 3 people putting on all the matches, sooner or later they will burn out or you're going to end up with people who just put on whatever they want because there are no options. If there are dozens, you can pick the best people to work them and build them.
  10. I'm signed up for the one in a couple weeks. And was considering shooting Factory. Really don't know now since I don't know what the rules intend.

What Alma said. Recoil spring tuning has a lot to do with the load you are using and the individual shooter. What works for one person may be a pound or two off for the next shooter. Figure out your load and buy a Cal pack. Using 1911 springs will make things super easy to get the springs tuned just right.
  12. Dang, Top Gun has a ton of Sig stuff.
  13. I've heard that complaint about St George before and I have no idea where people are going. I've never had a problem finding something to drink in St George. And I'm a beer snob. There are a few good ones and plenty of hard alcohol to be found.
  14. Agree now it's Rio Salado in Mesa, AZ. But St. George, UT is making a run. There are some pretty good shooters there and a few more moving to be part of the program. The range facility is excellent and in the short time they've been around their props are every bit as nice as, if not better than Rio. I remember the first year for A1 they had a stage with a shoot house. I showed up and they built a house. Framed and actual roof trusses. I think the biggest advantage they have is everyone seems to get along at the range. You don't have cowboys bitching about USPSA, USPSA bitching about trap and trap bitching about everyone. And the town area is incredible. I've never wanted to move to Mesa. I do want to move to St. George.
  15. It's not that far at all. They used to have a stage up on the hill as you drove in that was a hike to get to. Now everything is pretty much on the main range. No more than 3-4 miles, but I'm bad at estimating distance. Almost forgot. There was another reason I only used pistol instead of a PCC. If for some reason your gear breaks down and you have to come out of Trooper, like needing that replacement shotgun. If you've used a gun that isn't legal in Open (i.e. PCC) you're out of luck and are shooting for no score. Keep it all Open legal and you will just get bumped to Open. You lose some of the benefits of shooting in Trooper, like free reign to pretty much shoot whatever you want, but still have all the challenge of planning and packing the gear around.
  16. Orlando and Tampa are pretty close to the same distance. Especially if you arrive around rush hour. Tampa not bad, Orlando sucks. I flew into Tampa for the WS and it ended up being a bit cheaper than Orlando once I rented the car.
  17. The gas volume on a 9mm is significantly less. It's also a blowback so it's not coming through the gas port and into the BCG. I've never had an issue with gas from a 9mm. First thing I would try is a PRI Gasbuster charging handle. If that doesn't work, you can do the lefty version. Not sure about the left side ejection helping at all. I've shot mine left and right and it sucks both ways. I like the idea of an adjustable gas block though. The suppressor significantly increases back pressure and dwell time. You don't need as much gas pumping through the system as you do unsuppressed. If you run it with a can all the time, dial the gas down and it will reduce some of the cloud of eye watering gas.
  18. If I had to guess, they are trying to keep it roughly 30 rounds without making the RO try to count to 30 rounds while the competitor is shooting. And also to not bump someone who accidentally crams 31 into their PMAG into Open. Makes sense to me, but again, poorly worded.
  19. I agree the competitive world would be a lot easier for match directors and rule makers if everyone would just do what they are supposed to. But that's a bit like herding cats. Even IDPA can't keep people from trying to gain an advantage over what they should be doing. Shawn, if the goal in putting out the rules was to seek input they did it all wrong. Because the way it was presented to me was, here are the new rules. Followed by a crap load of bitching and a, fine, fine we'll change this if it will shut you up type response. If you want input, fine put it out there with the caveat that the rules aren't effective for 30 days and then tell people to look them over. Or even better, (and I can't say for sure this wasn't done) send it out to a bunch of seasoned competitors, MD's, and people who have been doing this for awhile, and let them hash it out before you put it out for comment.
  20. I'm not even sure if you could consider that a loophole Mark. It specifically says in the rule there is no maximum ammo capacity. It also doesn't include a design stipulation that says only double column mags, or no drums, or quad stack mags. As near as I can tell it lists a length restriction to no longer than a standard 30 round mag and that is it. If it's an accidental loophole its a remarkably large one. And one they could have fixed by putting the rules out to members for comment before saying they were in effect. Simply putting the rules out to members for 30 days and asking for input will fix the vast majority of nutty rules like this one. I hate to keep harping on it, but it's a comment that has been made time and again about 3GN. It was a comment made about USPSA Multigun. We finally figured it out and listened and ended up with a rule book that even Kurt Miller doesn't hate. Why try to reinvent the wheel? Take input from people with experience and get it right the first time.
  21. Hit up Springer Precision. Not sure if he has them this second, but he'll probably be the first. He has the geometry for the mount down and is making +0 pads. Adding capacity is easy.
  22. I've never toted a PCC around at Ironman so from my perspective everything is based off carrying a pistol. I have seen way more PCC's break than Glocks, but that's just me. And two pistols is still way lighter than a PCC. There are also a lot of stages that a pistol is just easier to use and deal with than a PCC. So even if I was bringing a PCC, I'd still plan on bringing the pistols, and a retention holster. As far as the shotgun, they are all weak. There aren't any combat designed shotguns out there. The AR and Glock are both designed with battle in mind and are reliable. Shotguns are all designed from the perspective of bird hunters. Even ones like the Saiga and Akdal are basically toys instead of tools. That said, I've seen just as many match ending failures with tube guns as I have with mag fed guns. Actually more. Part of that is I've seen a freaking lot more tube guns, but they are all still prone to puking or breaking. If I had my choice, and could only pick one gun to bring a back up for the shotgun would be it in a heartbeat. But I can't afford a second and it's heavy. The pistol is a no brainer to bring a backup. No space and it's light.
  23. For the 34 the easiest is to just carry a spare. Even if it's just a 17. If you do carry spare parts I keep a complete trigger group for each gun in the kit. Trigger housing, bar, connector, ejector, complete spring kit, guide rod and a striker. If you have a spare barrel it wouldn't hurt. Do not show up for the Ironman with the stock plastic sights. You won't go home with them. Two other things. Bring a retention holster for the pistol. The Safariland 6378 is the best for the Glock 34. Hands down. And bring some hot pistol ammo for the spinners.
  24. The Surefire 60 as is would be too long. Now if someone cut an inch off the bottom and bent the bottom to fit the baseplate...well. Please tell me we won't be trying to guess rules based on intent. Because if I had to guess intent I would say they are looking for a max length and maximum ammo in mag doesn't count. Cuz that's what the rule actually says.
