  1. The Clark range was used this year for the Sig demo day during SHOT. I talked to one of the guys and he said they were hoping to have steel out there permanently. But I don't know if that's happened or not yet. I believe that range has staff during the day so you could probably give them a call and get the full details.
  2. I've mentioned issues to several shooters over the years. Never had one that took offense. Most just didn't know. Last year it was a guy at the Ironman that didn't realize he couldn't swap scopes each stage. He wasn't in the running to win.
  3. I don't see any correlation to the rule regarding burning round in 3 Gun sport and PCC at a USPSA match. The reason for burning rounds usually has to do with transitioning between firearms, i.e. grounding the rifle and going to shotgun, or swapping ammo types, i.e. loading a slug and burning the birdshot in the chamber. Neither of these have any reason to be encountered in PCC. As far as the reasons for the rules being there is people would burn that round in all sorts of scary directions. Often times too fast to really see whether it was in the bay or not. Not always, but I saw some really unsafe rounds being fired to clear that chamber. Since usually all the targets are engaged already if the shooter is running off somewhere there were several times that RO's would yell stop and think the shooter was DQ'd when a round all the sudden went off not pointed at a target. That rule was made to try and combat that. But again, I don't see where there would be a correlation between that and PCC.

  5. There is a division called Unlimited. You can shoot just about anything with a GLOCK frame there that is legal in just about any other sport I can think of. I've had a lot of guys bumped there because of stipples frames, or aftermarket barrels etc. They all still had fun shooting.
  6. Pete does a great job. If you can't make this one the Surefire World MG is another Pete match in October. More stages and just a great time.
  7. Stages 3 and 5 are on pistol bays on the left side of the range as you pull in. They are big pistol bays though. I'd expect you're looking about 50-maybe 70 yards on those. He'll probably put them on the top of the berm at the back. Again, just guess work though. They definitely won't be much more.
  8. 8 should be the only really long one. That's the bay they can go to 400ish?, but I think they will be a bit shorter based on the positions they have you shooting from. 9 and 11 should be right around 200. I think the most you can get out of either of those is 225ish, maybe a bit less.
  9. Phew. That makes much more sense. And certainly more sense than Mr. Kelley's answer. I don't know about him sometimes.
  10. Crap, for some reason I though USPSA had a half day match format. Was really hoping to not have to sit in the desert all day.
  11. Actually recommended that to the Rangemaster a couple hours ago.
  12. Marlin Camp Carbine and Ruger PC9. Neither one are sexy but both have had good success locally in our local carbine matches. I can't seem to find any for less than $600 each now which is more than I figured.
  13. To be honest, Sig is really starting to tick me off. We've been trying to get a quote, or even a call back, from Sig for months. It's like they don't want to sell us $80,000.00 in guns. I'm really, really underwhelmed with their customer service. I figure we'll probably end up passing on them at this point just because of the lack of response. I really don't want to get into a weapons system we can't even get a call back from the manufacturer on.
  14. I haven't shot them both enough to really make a comparison. I have a decent amount of time in with 9mm AR's but have never been impressed with them. Being blowback only the recoil impulse was more than the .223. The previous versions that used Colt/modified Uzi mags also never impressed me. That said, the one time I have shot the JP version I was impressed. It was a couple years ago so I'm guessing it was the 12 version. The recoil impulse was significantly different than previous 9mm AR's I've shot. I liked it a lot. Given a choice I'd probably still go with the MPX, but only because of the new/shiny/cool factor. Operationally I think they are both pretty similar.
  15. There is an adapter available for the back of the MPX that takes an AR buffer tube. Should be able to put whatever stock on you want for matches. Then leave the cool looking one on for screwing around.
  16. I did some testing with the MPX a couple months ago. All my AR memory worked with the MPX. Reloads, safety, charging all was very familiar and instinctive. It's one of the reasons my agency is looking at the MPX. All the skills will translate to the ARs we also have.

  18. The 2016 Starlight 3 Gun Championship will be held at the Copperhead Creek Shooting Club just outside Marble Falls, Texas November 8-12, 2016. The 8-9 will be the reserved for the Staff Match and overflow. The main match will be the 10-12. This year we will have 8 stages, plus a shoot off on Saturday night. I flew down to Texas at the end of January to take a look at the range and meet the locals. I'm really looking forward to this year. We'll be able to do a lot of things here that we haven't before. Expect this to be the biggest night time 3 gun match ever. Great stages, great food, live band, lights, lasers and gun shots, what could be better? Registration will open on April 3, 2016 at 5:00 PM Pacific on Practiscore. I'll post a link a little closer to that date. You'll be able to register at that time and a payment link will be sent soon after. You'll need to pay within 30 days of registering or your entry will be deleted. If there is a problem, or you think you'll have a sponsored slot, just let me know and I'll work with you. My email is chuck@andersontactical.com I don't want to drop anyone, but if I don't hear from you, either a payment or an email saying why, I'm assuming you don't want to go. Information will be posted at www.starlight3gun.com You can find more information about the venue at http://www.copperheadclub.com/ Hotels in the area are pretty expensive I'm finding. I would suggest booking as soon as possible. If you don't get in you can always cancel later. We'll have a small block of rooms available, but I won't know how many until we get staffing sorted out. Timney Triggers is back as our presenting sponsor, as well as our two additional premier sponsors, the NSSF and Sig Sauer from last year. Chuck Anderson is MD and Travis Gibson is the Rangemaster.

  20. There is a significant difference between running an existing match for an existing sport and trying to start something on its own from scratch. Could you point out where I said it's going to be so popular? Let alone so popular to support a new standalone match. Actually never mind. I don't care enough about it to argue with random people on the internet.
  21. No you can't run a PCC with zero changes. the proposed appendix proves that as well as having to modify positions that PCC shooters shoot from in some stages. Saying zero changes is just wrong If PCC was so popular at SHOT then it shouldn't be to hard to create stand alone matches. I mean if there is so much industry support why not. Why not? I know several matches can and have run PCC with zero changes to the match. Yes PCC has different start positions but it has zero effect, well maybe 10 extra seconds reading the WSB. Creating standalone matches is completely different. I'm assuming you've never done it yourself.
