  1. And oddly enough, I can't think of anyone that uses a Krieger in 3 Gun. I'm sure someone does, just no one I can think of at the top. Having a fast moving but accurate rifle barrel that holds POI/POA for a higher number of rounds is good enough for me. I've heard good things about the light JP barrels, but shooting 30 rounds off quickly then settling in for a 500 yard shot just seems beyonds the capability of a thin barrel.
  2. If it offers better performance than what I'm using, I'm buying it. Yeah, 950 is a lot, but I spend an awful lot going to matches as well. If I can buy a better finish in a match I'm going to. And if it does last longer than what I'm using it might end up a bit cheaper in the long run anyway.
  3. Actually I might end up needing a new barrel sooner than I thought anyway. My primary match rifle is about three years old. Took it to the range before the SF match and it was spraying bullets into 9 inches at 300 yards. Need to do a little diagnostics to be sure but I'm pretty sure that barrel is about done. Been fighting it all year. Finally said screw it and took my back up this weekend. Glad I did, it was nice to actually hit the targets without needing 100 rounds.
  4. Just shot the SureFire WMG match this weekend with Brian Nelson and Daniel Horner. Both are running the Proof Research barrels. I know from talking to Brian before the match that he really likes his... a lot. I also talked to Daniel about his and he's a fan as well. Overheard him several times talking about his barrel. Watching him shoot the long range stage, targets out to 500, and missing one shot was pretty impressive. I brought two different uppers to the match, one for the short fast stages and one for the long range, accuracy needed stages. Daniel only had and needed one. Not sure if I'll ever be able to afford one, but they look like high quality barrels and they work very well for 3 Gun.
  5. If he's shooting a 105000 PF load in USPSA he easily makes it. Our PF is only 125 for minor and 165 for major. 105,000 is way highfer than that.
  6. Short? That's the pair of 14" 870s in the trunk. Never thought of a 22" barreled shotgun as short.
  7. Not on that stage way it was set up. But, you were there and shot it, right? Did he shoot the stage? Looking into the "8 ball", here comes the reply.... Signs point to no. :-)No I didn't shoot the stage, our was more of a generic statement, 90° is the same either way.But it wasnt a 90 or 180 degree turn. If you drew CW to the target on the right side it was about 225 degrees, then a turn back the the left target of about 90 degrees. Most right handers went to the left corner so the left target could be shot moving to that corner which is why most shot the right target first. Turning CCW gave you about a 135 degree turn for the first shot followed by the same 90 for the second target.
  8. Equipment rules every two years. Everything else is fair game though.
  9. I actually thought the opposite. That USPSA wanted to be able to modify rules more often. Can't think of a year that has gone by since the change where we didn't have multiple rules changed each year. Seemed like every BoD meeting something was changed.
  10. Tanfoglio Stock II and a Limcat 2011 respectively.
  11. Because he shot Open and was removed from the team? Not sure why he was bumped but you can't be on a Production team shooting Open.
  12. So some targets are fair enough for National championships, and for everyday shooters, but not fair enough for 3GN pro shooters? I think I am going to go with Kurt's first answer. Painting steel between shooters is the norm for all man on man, and should be more commonly practiced. Think of it this way. How many matches have you shot where there are two sets of stages set up? Shooter A shoots one set of stages and shooter B shoots the other set. That's what you're looking at with a man on man Shootoff. If everyone shoots the same stage who cares if the second star spins faster than the first one. You have to shoot both.
  13. Not sure, but I don't believe they give out class awards in IPSC. Category yes, but can't recall ever seeing class winners. IPSC classification is different than USPSA.
  14. In theory individual US slots were awarded according to the same Team slot formula (it's right there in the document), except you could mix-n-match match divisions for your best point total. AFAIK, some were allocated this way (there were not a lot of leftover slots after the teams and the USPSA Presidents' 10 got through with them from the first batch of slots however) Although according to the policy, the second batch of slots should have been given away the same way, actually it seems they were given away randomly from the pool of people that asked for one. Supposedly it was a combination of both. About half were distributed according to what the BOD voted on. The other half were random. And there were some additional slots that the President can give out at his discretion. This only refers to the slots available after teams were formed.
  15. What Ed said. The G30 is also stupid accurate which is a bonus in GSSF.
  16. I turned CCW. And no I wasn't counting on my "status" to avoid a DQ. It was just the most efficient way to turn for me.
  17. It's likely an inaccurate assumption that the RO on the timer is the only one watching the gun in this case. What I usually see with starts like this is a second or even a third RO off to the side watching the gun. They are in the best position to spot the 180 break. I do remember several ROs positioned this way at the WS although I can't remember on this specific stage.
  18. I had to adjust mine at a match last year year. First stage of the Pro-Am I found the batch of ammo I shipped was a touch light and was short stroking. That little knob allowed me to add a bit of gas between stages and the rifle was flawless the rest of the match. I could have probably done the same thing with an allen wrench, but I've also stripped the heads out on those buggers once they get crudded up inside. And I usually don't travel with a complete tool set to out of state matches. Saved my butt.
  19. Not sure Grauffel would do as well in Standard as he does in Open and Production. Eric uses a very different grip technique than any other shooter I've seen. It does very well with guns that have less recoil, Open and Production. Not sure it works as well with the heavier recoil in Standard. Additionally if he did shoot Standard he would likely use a Tanfoglio due to sponsor commitments. I have yet to see a Tanfoglio do really well in Standard. Not saying it can't be done, and Eric would be the guy who could likely do it, but it's another factor against him dominating Standard/Limited.
  20. The process for this years match was voted on in Dec 2011. Your best 3 of 4 performances from the 2012/2013 USPSA Nats and 2012/2013 IPSC Nats. Top three shooters are automatically on the team. The fourth slot is picked by the Team Manager/DNROI. no guarantees that's how it'll be for 2017 in France though. My guess is the BOD will vote on it at their next BOD meeting.
  21. I've never done it with shot, but on the rare 2 slugs on paper stage, with close targets, yeah, I've outrun the gun. Easily. Transitioning between steel or clays is just enough to slow me down to not worry about it.
  22. Why not? Squads listings are available. https://clubs.practiscore.com/uspsahgnationals/squadding
  23. Did you shoot it later in the night? I think what was happening was temperature dropped enough and there was enough humidity in the air from the thunderstorms that it was the water vapor in the air blocking most of the light. Like using fog lights instead of high beams. Looking back I think dropping a light on the spool and using that to illuminate might have been the best fix. But of course I didn't think of that till now. I used a 1000 lumen light and didn't punch through. It's definitely not a lack of light.
  24. Yeah it wasn't a big deal last year since we only had a few guns. This year...damn.
