  1. That's confirmed on Rodney's X-5. Dave and Bob were using 34's. I know Tony had one of the Competition Glock's, but I'm not 100% on caliber, 34/35. Matt and Angus were running SP-01's
  2. Uhh, no. It came down to the standards. One more A by Dave or one less by Bob and it would have been a different outcome.
  3. Yes, Bob smiled when Dave told him he won after the Standards. I don't think he believed it though. He said he wasn't going to believe it till he saw it on paper. But he was smiling just the same. It was an interesting match to watch between the two. Dave shot an awesome first day. I didn't think he could be beat. Days 2 and 3 were tougher with Bob chipping away and finally overtaking Dave. BTW Bob was shooting a 9mm Glock 34.
  4. I think you would find the terminal ballistics on a .357 FMJ would be less desirable than you think. The 125 Gr JHP is no comparison to an FMJ. The best 9mm hollowpoints are pretty damn good stoppers. But I don't need to tell you 9mm FMJ sucks big time.
  5. We have a different definition of A-holes where I come from. I'm pretty sure shooting them would would get me arrested or at least DQ'd. And speaking of that. If I sign up for the L10/Open match and DQ on my first stage without shooting any D's or Mike, does that mean I win? Because the way I'm shooting that might be my best bet of getting something out of that match.////Never mind, I read the rules (See Flex it's easy) I guess my master plan won't work
  6. Take it easy on Flex, just because he wasn't able to even come to the match shouldn't make him the object of our ridicule and scorn. Should it??? For my own part, I'm glad I stayed out of the game. Yesterday I managed to get by with 2 Deltas and a Mike which would have been great if not for the $17.00 I would have had to chip in for Day one. I think we shot less than 100 rounds on Day 1 and I had 11 Delta, 3 Mike and 3 NPM. Ouch. Glad I'm not a betting man.
  7. Geez, what a bunch of negative nellies. Maybe the guy has some original ideas. Like making the grip out of a different material (okay, not original but I've only seen one grip in Aluminum so far) or making something that STI/SV hasn't. Heck, I always hear people complain about the lack of availability of something, grips, purple grips, aluminum frames, single stack grips. If he can come up with something, more power to him. To get back to your original question. Progressive Machine and Tool has an aluminum grip assembly in the works. I've seen a working prototype on Steve's gun and it looked interesting.
  8. Why reshoots? RO walks by a target, you're used to them scoring it and it gets taped. RO comes back after scoring the rest of the stage. Happened mostly on the first day. They are having the shooters sign the summary, but it's not very useful for figuring anything out about the stage. The number of hits don't even alway match up since NPM's aren't recorded. All you see is 14 A, 2 C and 1 D, or whatever.
  9. I don't like it one bit. I don't see any advantage to the Palm Scoring. It takes longer, there is less accountability and I've seen way too many mistakes. Having to score the disappearing targets last is also a huge waste of time and has resulted in a copule reshoots on our squad.
  10. Well after seeing the thread about the Holiday Inn Express Owasso, I was a little nervous so I called last night and was told my reservation was still in effect and would be no problem. I told them I might be in a bit late and they said no problem as long is it was before midnight. If it was after midnight I would just have to call. I showed up tonight to find out that they were overbooked and gave our rooms away. Apparently they decided first come first served tonight and the last room went about the time we were registering for the match at the match hotel. After some heated words they came up with a King smoking and a king non smoking for me and my buddy to split. Now we're paying twice as much as before, with one of us in a room that smells like an ashtray. When I got to my room there was someone elses stuff. They came up and moved all the stuff out saying the reservation wasn't in the computer. So now I have a nice comfy room with constant thought that at some point someone is going ot come back to the their room and a heck of an argument is going to ensue. Oh joy.
  11. I've got a couple slides that have Novak sight cuts and I was wondering if it was possible to mill it for a Bo-Mar or Champion. I'm looking to use the slde for PPC so I need the adjustability and sight picture. I don't want to use the STI adjustable that looks like a Novak. Any ideas?
  12. The match is getting closer. It's only a few weeks away. Make sure to get your applications in as soon as possible. I'll be at Nationals this week for anyone that would like to drop them off in person. Otherwise I'll be back on Monday the 15th. Looking forward to a great steel match.
  13. The US not USSA will bid for the match. If the US is selected the match can occur anywhere in the US. My guess is Tulsa will be highlighted as a likely location for the World Shoot if the US get the go ahead.
  14. Results are up at uspsa.org. Sorry for the delay. Many thanks to our Area Director Bruce Gary for taking care of this for us.
  15. The RO calls "X# No Penalty Mike" and the score keeper would note that on the score sheet. That is how you know all the targets are scored completely. The data entry folks however, don't need to do anything when they encounter an empty box or one with "NP" noted and there is nothing recorded. But I may be missing something. David C Assuming a 24 round course with NPM's. If the scoring program on the website shows, 20 A, 1 B, 2 C and 1 D, there were no NPM, all hits were accounted for. If it shows 20 A and nothing else, then there were 4 NPM. If it shows 20 A and 4 M, well you get the point. It'll just require counting the hits on the stages with NPM available.
  16. What was the reason for not including non-shooting procedurals? If someone gets a 10 point procedural for faulting a line, is that different than a 10 point procedural for not engaging a target? BTW, how much did the winner end up with last year? Are you only doing this for Open, or L10 and is there a difference in the pots.
  17. If you were going to put an aftermarket slide and bbl on your Glock anyway, say a match .40 bbl and a slide that is already cut for a Bo-Mar sight, and then take out the trigger and put a Fulcrum trigger in from Glockworx, and a 3.5 connector, and well basically replace every part but the frame anyway, why not just buy the frame not have throw the rest of the parts away. It's just like buying a 1911 frame from Caspian, or STI, or any of the other dozen plus places that sell 1911 frames. As far as the patent, Glocks ran out a while ago. That's why CCF can make frames. Same reason Caspian and everyone else can make 1911 frames.
  18. Who makes that! I've seen that video a hundred times but can never find out It's a Tippman Arms 1919. Lakeside Machine currently owns Tippman. I don't think they are still being manufactured
  19. I haven't run across a 6 inch gun that I've liked but I haven't shot them extensively. I've shot a handful of different ones with different ammo. I still prefer my old 5" std dustcover, lightened slide, bushing bbl .40. But I've always liked a short light gun. I'm one of those weirdos Scott was talking about that prefer the 17 to the 34. For me the majority of shots for IPSC don't warrant the extra time it takes me to line up that extra inch of sight radius. And yes, I can call my shots Howard.
  20. I've run mine lots of times fast enough that the timer did not pick up the splits. The timer I use won't pick up anything faster than .10 so I'm somewhere in the .09 range at least. None of my guns have ever done that without a problem. Last time I heard the cycle time on a 1911 was in the .05-.07 second range. Probably towards the latter side if you're shooting a heavy Edge. Even bouncing the trigger I don't think you're going to out run the gun. I think it's likely a gun malfunction.
  21. DAAAAAMMMMMMMNNNNNN!!!!!!!! A revolver shooting beating an open shooter like a drum, thats just got to hurt Norm.
  22. I'll become a member of Steel Challenge because I feel it's important for me to help the organization. Other folks may not feel that way and that is their right. I think USPSA may be missing the boat though. There needs to be some benefit to being a member of the SCSA. Right now I can shoot steel locally with the two groups within an hour that shoot steel matches. They can even set up the exact Steel Challenge stages every month if they want to. I can shoot any regional, national or world championship steel matches without being a member. The results page on the SCSA website shows a grand total of three matches from this year. Like I said, I'm going to be a member of SCSA, at least for a few years because I really think we need to support the organization. However, at some point USPSA and SCSA are going to have to give me something for my membership money. Don't know what that would be, magazine, classification system or??? But taking money with no benefit in return is not a good plan.
  23. 187 is California Penal Code (huh huh, he said penal) for murder. I probably wouldn't have had the miss and no shoot on that stage if I had looked at the sights instead of longingly at the Krispy Kreme that Shawn stuck in front of me.
  24. They work fine in my RRA, Sabre, DPMS, Colt, Bushmaster and JP lowers. Check the date stamp on the side of the mag. There should be a little clock looking thing with 12 number in a circle and the year stamped in the middle. Figure out when they were made. If they were pre July 07 they need to be warrantied by Magpul. If after that, call Magpul anyway, they will probably fix it. They are awesome at servicing these.
