  1. I would point you strait to a match! I can't tell you how much you're missing by not going. Learning, making friends, and finding good deals on stuff is all part of it...... WHILE SHOOTING!
  2. stockpile in batches.... come match time I chrono random sample of batch, if it passes I pack up and go.
  3. No wheelgun for me, but I did send in my app yesterday good buddy!
  4. Mail lady just took my app out the door, and on the way to Kentucky it goes....
  5. Dude r u back? I'm back brother! Lock up the farm animals and moon shine! Looking forward to it man. But Jesse, How else would I conduct myself without all the normal entertainment?
  6. I dry fired my Sig 229 like 20,000 times. Worked till the day I sold it.
  7. mineral spirits and an old towel.
  8. 18 inches. full length adjustable gas lightened BCG
  9. I only use my paper targets for dryfire (I'm a cheapo). The rest of the time it's rimfire on steel for me! 25 yards, little poppers seem to be good enough for accuracy training. About a week or 2 before a match, ill bust off some 50 yard bill drills with rifle, and long range training. Aside from whatever the particular drill is, I find as long as I practice at all, the better my match performance will be. Your drill looks fine, just more leg work than I put in. Oh, I also practice one shot transition drills (twice the transitions for the $) ha ha! Keep on shooting, mix it up with some different stuff from time to time. Find your weakest spot at the last match, and work on it. That is what my focus is on in general, while practicing.

    Being Sick

    Headache, fever, sore throat....blaaaaaaah.
  11. Hello from the North end of the boot. Welcome!
  12. Just walk around aiming at various "things" and holding the sights on target. Oh, and you have to make "pow, pow, pow" sounds under your breath, it's mandetory if you want to fully develop the skill.
  13. Ok, here is the full evolution of my technique sofar. I was just playing around, and was beating the timer EVERY TIME! But, when the camera comes on, it all goes to hell fast... I just can't make myself post a video without including some of the screw-ups. It makes for a better flavored film.
  14. I'll second what Jesse T said, ask a ton of questions! Nothing like real world info, to supplement the internet gamers of the world...
  15. If your not shooting, moving, or reloading......you've already lost! Do these three things, and nothing else, and you will do fine. BTW, these are not my words, Jerry Miculek told me this once.
  16. Thanks Goose! CFI says all I have to do now is get really really scared one time...
  17. I shot 3 gun for years with an m4 bushmaster. (put in a good trigger, and a muzzle brake) that's it. then 7 months ago, I realized I was outshooting the gun, so I got a full on JP. Borrow as many as you can, and try to determine what "feels" right for now. Don't know your skill level, but really anything will work good enough for a while. Let us know! Another suggestion....If you have low experience/practice time, then get a stock-ish/plain rifle, AND a .22 upper! you'll be amazed how much better you'll be shooting if you burn half a bulk pack a week!
  18. Read Sean Gaines thread on this forum called "Food for Thought"! It is a treasure of great stuff! Welcome, you have found the right place on the internet!
  19. No doubt! We hit 3 different grass fields before the river, and it was the most fun I've had in an airplane since I got my certificate 2 years ago. I'm feeling like a freshly sharpened pencil!
  20. After 4 hours in a 1943 cub, my instructor says, "you want your endorsement, you got it, you've earned it" Feels good, still got to stay practiced up though. Also, we went over and hit some sandbars on the Red River, for some real off field experience!
  21. Coming home from the gym right at dusk, I saw some cars turn out of a driveway coming my way. Their headlights were hi-beam, so I didn't notice the 2 little dogs chasing the cars until I was on them. Slammed on brakes, but smooth killed both dogs right in front of the whole family still standing in the yard waving at said cars. I got out and offered my apologies, but the children crying was pretty tough to hear. They knew there was nothing else I could have done, so guess it could've been worse.
