  1. mix a little dob of lanolin in some odorless mineral spirits, that is all you need. Works great, and cheap.
  2. Don't care about winning/losing. Best thing I ever did for my mental game.
  3. That's pretty dang awesome, as far as awesomeness goes!
  4. Faster twist rates are for heavier bullets. 69gr or 77gr are the most popular choices for heavy .223 bullets. 1 in 8" is what I launch 69's out of, and they do fine.
  5. Yes, you can test this in live fire like this! I might would contrast the circles some to get it more realistic "sight picture wise" It looks like a good exercise, everything really does help though, dry fire, live fire, any exercise you do, I would think will make some difference. I personally can't attest to dry fire alone improving some live fire skills, as I have never tried that. Plate racks should be shot just like any other target though. Nothing special required. Aim, squeeze, repeat until finished. I see folks get worked up at things like texas stars, or swinging racks, but it is all the same thing. Good luck, let us know as you improve.
  6. I own a plate rack, and must say there is no substitute! Dry fire is great practice, and don't discount that, but use live fire when possible.
  7. I finally decided to give this one a try. Most were like 13.XX, but I just woke up and was not warm. After 6 loads, times went down to 12.XX, and the last one was the fastest at 11.92. I reckon I'm no whiz at loading, but I don't drop the shells anymore.
  8. Heavy bullets impact higher. If it were me then id just learn the dope on the two different loads.
  9. You're hilarious! Well, Kurt Miller is shooting "glass optics magnified division" now, or whatever its called, so you may be onto something. Lol. I thought TIs was for novice/beginner types that were not committed enough to buy proper 3-gun equipment, like optics. Not having magnification just gave them an excuse to miss long range targets. That's why It is my divison of choice. It is. Damn...I Knew it. Ok, fine Jesse, I bought a swaro last week, and was gonna save it as a surprise, but looks like I'm gonna jump over and give TO a try so I can play at the pro-am.

  11. There are zero scores for tac-irons. That seem weird? Anyone shooting TI in semi-pro?
  12. Someone stole a vortex razor off the tac iron table at Ozarks 2 years ago. Someone also stole something at DPMS but I cant remember what it was. I believe it was a Leupold that was taken at DPMS. I stand corrected, but still, seems to me a no touch policy would fix "that" issue, as long as you could see what's there, there is usually a whole gaggle of Range Officials standing around, I would think just have a few observe the "looking" while we wait for scores. Or, put up some caution tape "cross the tape, and get a DQ" kinda thing Man, it takes a real fugbucket to steal from the prize table. I hope the scope hits whoever in the eye.
  13. I HATE secret prize tables! No touch is fine, but can't see is not. I missed a great prize that I actually NEEDED @ Texas MG cause I just didn't know, and had folk waiting behind me, and I was rushed, so as not to be a turd for anyone else I just grabbed and moved. Anything that gets rushed, gets screwed up. If only shooters could hawk it, it would be easier. Besides that, in 4 years of competing, I've never even heard of someone stealing from the table.
  14. Cool, I'm up here Springhill way. We might catch up at a match soon.
  15. Welcome man, so which part of N. La? I'm NE of Shreveport.
  16. I'm sorta scratching my head also??? Pulled in 2nd place limited at LaRue, and uhhhh....no tac-irons listings at all....hmmmmmm.
  17. I take a dab (english pea size) of lanolin, put it in my palm, squirt a dash of odorless mineral spirits rub it together in both hands (dissolves completely) and rub thru a bucket of brass until I think I've touched most of them, and viola! works for rifle brass also...... I am a chemist,
  18. I use an M2 for 3gun, is that what you're asking? I love mine, it was tricked out by Salient.
  19. Ngumm, I'm looking to get "into multigun" also, so I have NO practical experience at all - in same spot You are Two things I haven't seen in the responses are: 1. how far are you planning on shooting the gun? My local multigun matches, that I've seen so far, are pretty close. That means you don't need any particular rifle or scope for them - cheap is fine from what I've seen locally. 2. depends on how far you plan to go in the sport - if you plan to get heavily into it - go to regional and nat'l matches, you need a good AR and a good scope. But, just staying local, and having fun- anything will work, from what I've seen. But, I got a super price on an AR - going to try three different scopes I have lying around, and give it a try This^ My first year of 3gun, was a stock bushmaster AR-(M4 carbine) iron sights, sig p229, and a pump 870....what I had. I went from there.
