  1. As someone looking in from the outside, I don't shoot L-10 or SS, is the art and skill of the SS reload being done away with with the development of the Techwell? It seems like you can make a SS magazine chute nearly as large of a target as a double stack magazine well. As for the position of magazines and holster differences between L-10 and SS. Seems like Dave Sevigny did pretty well at L-10 Nationals using Production equipment. Aside from probably switching to a Glock 35, his belt setup was identical to how it was setup for Production.
  2. I would never own a Mosquito, even if you gave me one. The trigger tends to be nasty and heavy. It's also made out of zinc, which is a pot metal. mattk
  3. Roger Sherman designed and was selling mousetrap extensions for Sig P226 X-Five magazines before he deployed to Iraq. I don't remember what the capacity increase for .40S&W was, but for 9mm you could take a 17 round magazine and turn it into a 23-24 round magazine.
  4. You can mail ammo to your family in Houston. You can fly with ammo pretty easily too. It just needs to be in boxes that were designed for transporting ammo. So what I do is save up factory boxes (CCI Blazer, Federal America Eagle) and load them up with my reloads. Then when I empty them at the match I just toss the box and don't have to worry about bring them home. You can also use those plastic boxes that you put your reloads into, but then you have to bring them back home. It's my understanding that different airlines have different policies when it comes to how much ammo you can travel with. Look into what the policy for the airline you are traveling on.
  5. Thanks, are these guys factory shooters? Googling them doesn't bring up any results. I was hoping to find someone on this board who had first hand high mileage experience with the Sig X-5. Factory supported shooters are never going talk about breakage or maintenance frequency. Roger was a factory supported shooter until he deployed to Iraq a year ago. I'm not sure which X-Five he shoots in Limited. Rodney is not a factory supported shooter. He told me he has broken several parts and that Sig Sauer has been less than helpful with selling him replacement parts. He shoots an Allround in Production.
  6. Two people come to mind, Rodney May and Roger Sherman.
  7. The last NWC was held in 2007. It was mixed in with the Area 1 match in Puyallup. mattk
  8. Neat app. Thanks for sharing. My only concern would be the possibility of damaging the microphone. mattk
  9. For sure. Fun should be the number one goal. It's hard to get better if you're not having fun. mattk
  10. Changing divisions again I see... You could always get a brass base pad for your big magazine. I agree with some other posters though, very rarely will you be dropping a completely empty magazine. The added weight of bullets will cause the magazine to drop faster. It's good to do static reloads to get the mechanics down correctly, but how often do you do static reloads at a match? The classifier stage maybe, none of the field courses (hopefully!). Try doing dry reloads at home while taking a few steps from one position to another. mattk
  11. No worries! Nice shooting and thanks for the break down. mattk
  12. Any video? If not how about string by string break down of times and points down by stage? Thanks! mattk
  13. Looking at the list of Production legal pistols and their respective weights, I see at least one that is incorrect. The Sig Sauer P220RST does not weigh 30.4 ounce, it's probably in the 41-42 ounce range. mattk
  14. For one of the matches I put on earlier this spring, I had a tech inspection stage. I did tech inspection for two reasons, the first being to help people out for Area 1 and the second being that the match was part of the Northwest Section Championship Series and the guidelines recommended it. The tech inspection included chronograph for everyone, an IDPA box for Production and Single Stack, a scale for Single Stack (the published weights from Production were not available then), and a magazine gauge for Open, Limited and L10. There was one Open shooter whose brand new big stick magazine didn't fit the gauge. He was disappointed about shooting the match for no score, but appreciated the heads up about his gear before getting to Area 1 and which ever other major matches he attended. mattk
  15. After Jeff shot the stage and some of his squad members asked him what he had done. He explained that because the table was bowed upward that it was perfect for Production guns. You could aim the magazine more directly down the centerline of the frame. I wasn't that bold. mattk
  16. I watched Jeff DeGracia do it on Stage 3 of LPR Nationals a few weeks ago. Caught a few of the guys on the Super Squad by surprise. mattk
  17. No. He was shooting a Sig X-Five All Around. mattk
  18. Ben, First off, congratations! It was a real pleasure watching you shoot during the match. Thanks for taking the time to answer a few of my questions. mattk
  19. For Triple Six, what is the starting hand position for each string? Thanks! mattk
  20. You're not excited about being part of the Production Super Squad? mattk
  21. The squad matrix is kind of pointless without knowing which squad you are on. None-the-less, it's a step in the right direction. Thanks for posting! mattk
