I look forward to seeing it Mitch. Hopefully this will get you to quit switching divisions for awhile! mattk

Right on. Sigs are a fine choice in my book. Ben, Someday I hope to be able to run my P226 nearly as well as you run your Beretta! mattk

I guess your analysis is reason for even more celebration when I beat the masses of Glock, M&P and XD shooters. Since I'm shooting a sub-standard platform. mattk

Please reread post #37 of this thread again. mattk

I don't agree. My Sig P226 is not holding me back. At this point, I don't see why GM is out of the question with more dry and live fire practice. mattk

I think there are a couple of reasons why Sigs aren't more popular in USPSA. The first being initial cost. You can almost buy two Glocks, two M&Ps or two XDs for the price of one brand new Sig. You are absolutely right in that if you already own a Sig and are interested in competing you'll start with it. Otherwise, if you're new to pistol shooting and new to competition you'll probably pick a less expensive platform. Secondly would be the availability of parts for modifying trigger pull weight and reset. My impression of Glock is that there are several drop-in trigger kits that the do-it-yourself gun owner can install. Along with that, it seems like there are many gunsmiths around the country who can do basically whatever you can dream up. For Sigs there is only one guy, Bruce Gray. I'm not aware of any drop-in trigger kits for Sigs that would give the do-it-yourself guys some options. Bart, Until you've felt what Bruce Gray can do for a Sig, I wouldn't be so quick to judge how good a Sig trigger can be. mattk

Worth the 11minutes to watch
HuskySig replied to Patrick Sweeney's topic in Books, Movies, TV & Music
I find Jeremy Clarkson's views of America disgusting. He comes off like a spoiled brat who doesn't appreciate what America has done to increase the popularity of his show. You think they could blow up cars with machine guns in England? No flipping way, they have to come to America to do that. Then a couple of shows later, he calls us gun totin' rednecks. mattk -
Say what?! I've never seen the classifier administered where a shooter could shoot directly over the top of the barrel. I thought the whole purpose of low cover was that you had to kneel and pie around it to see and engage targets? mattk

The IDPA classifier is all about consistency from club to club all around the world. The addition of swingers, drop turners and clamshells would add all sort of variability into the mix. In my club's storage shed, we have three or four swingers. Each one has it's own unique swing speed, from slow to fast. As to the original intent of this thread. I have posted several time that being a master of the IDPA classifier is not necessarily the same as being an IDPA Master. mattk

Area 1 Championship
HuskySig replied to Chuck Anderson's topic in Match Announcements - Pistol Only - USPSA, IPSC & Misc.
Sorry, not going to happen. We're still having to move people around to accomodate squadding requests. I don't want to put it out while we're still making weekly changes. If you have specific questions you can email me. Chuck No problem. Just a curiosity. I don't need to add more to your plate than you already have! mattk -

Floyd, Looks good! Thanks for all your hard work! How about some names to go along with those squad numbers? mattk -
Rest in peace Mr. Metz. The few times we crossed paths, he was a true gentleman and extremely patient with my new USPSA shooter type questions. mattk

Don't forget TomD. mattk

I'd be willing to bet the data from Nationals is also skewed to the high side as well. mattk

What are bad habits that you see shooters doing?
HuskySig replied to Chills1994's topic in Miscellaneous BEginners
I have a bad habit of scoring targets as I shoot. I developed this habit after several years of only doing bullseye target shooting. I'm finally starting to break the habit. mattk -
It already happened earlier this year. S&W Laser and Light Invitational mattk

I'd be willing to bet that SIG Sauer will get their Elite series legal for USPSA Production soon. In all honesty, at the local level no one is going to give you any trouble. I'd be a little bit more cautious about shooting a Level II, and above, match with a non-approved pistol. As for the weight, it's a personal thing that you're going to need to decide for yourself. mattk

I voted for the alloy version only because I like a lighter pistol. I have a P226ST and an alloy P226. My transition times with the alloy P226 are faster than the P226ST transitions. With proper lubrication, an alloy P226 frame should hold up just as well as the stainless steel frame. My one recommendation would be to get a two tone P226. In my experience the Nitron coated slides can do damage to the frame rails, especially with inadequate lubrication. One last comment. At this point, the Elite series have not been approved for use in USPSA. My understanding is SIG Sauer is working on the approval process. Production Gun List mattk

I shoot a two tone P226 in Production. I changed the front sight to a Dawson Precision fiber optic and I removed the vertical white bar on the factory rear sight. The pistol has been worked over by Bruce Gray. mattk

Nice one! Looks like it's going to be 102% mattk

I'd like a shot at it this year. I missed it last year by being out of town when the local club staged it. mattk

I bought the set of Shell Sorters back in December. I think they work great. I get most of my brass from an indoor range nearby. The 9mm black pan leaves an assortment of .380 Auto, 9mm, .38 Super/Comp that does need to be gone through by hand. Unless you're absolutely certain about what you picked up. Not too many .38 Super/Comp range rentals. My biggest problem is with the .380 Auto, it's a pain but easy to spot when I pull a hand full of brass to lube before loading. All in all, I'm pretty happy with Shell Sorter. It has definitely saved me quite a bit of time and energy so far. mattk
