  1. I had a similar problem a while back and found the issue was the guide rod where it seats inside the frame. With constant recoil it had peened the frame a little where it sits which I then had to lightly file back the raised peened area. Once you have done that it should slide off easy. In the end I got one of Hennings Conefit Guide Rods and haven't had any issue since. There is a write up about this on his website. Any tips for getting it off to be able to do the fitting? Luckily I was able to get mine off by packing some rubber at the back of the slide, under the rear sight and used a wood mallet and tapped it until it came off. Hopefully that or similar will be enough!!

  3. Yes I've been told this as well, and its mostly true. The MecGar CZ75 mags do feed well, but they are too short to fit in my full sized Baby Eagle. They will only go in if you remove the base pad.. Best option is to get the CZ mags for the SP01/Shadow. The mag body is longer with a plastic base pad that sits flush with the grip and the top of this can be trimmed so the mag seats properly. Also loads up to 18-19 rounds of 9mm. Great if you don't have issue with overall length with mag inserted.
  4. In the early days using the Grams followers, they were STI followers so you needed to turn them slightly to work properly but Henning now has followers specifically made for Tanfoglios so don't need to. You can check what you have on the bottom of the follower if it is a Tanfoglio follower it has a "T" stamped on it.
  5. It should take any of Hennings base pads for the large frame. You could also look at perhaps the H-400, H-520 or H-550 base pads which will give you even more rounds but possibly still be under the maximum length you need. Might pay to touch base with Henning and he could confirm the best option to still keep you legal.
  6. My Stock II has the overtravel screw and as this is an OFM option for this model, there should be no issue getting it approved for Production in IPSC, not sure about USPSA rules though!
  7. Judging from the position of the grip screw, it sits further in from the backstrap, I would guess this is the small frame version!
  8. Hey Mo Here is a link fresh from the IPSC Global Village forum with a pic!! http://ipsc.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=12406&hl
  9. I installed Hennings flat trigger system and the weight feels like it has gone up but I never measured it stock. This is why I am asking. If all you have done is change the trigger and nothing else then there is likely to be little difference in the pull weight. To get a lighter pull weight you need to also look at lighter hammer springs and the EGW sear and hammer!
  10. Shooterbenedetto is right, the firing pin safety needs to be taken out when using the Henning firing pin. This is likely to be the problem you are having with FTF's also. Once you have the pin out, take out the firing pin safety and leave it out, you don't need it for the gun to function and will find it runs perfectly from then on.
  11. If you can get your hands on a Ghost holster for the Tanfoglio, you can adjust it to fit the round trigger guard models!! I did this on my round trigger guard .45 and it works perfectly!
  12. The Henning XL firing pin is meant to be used without the safety plunger. Take the plunger out completely and the firing pin will work perfectly. In terms of the trigger, Henning has a trigger pin, like a nut and bolt, which is a tight fit and will take up some slack but you get best results with his trigger and trigger pin used together. You can find both on his shop!!
  13. I kept the factory recoil spring and just added the 10lb 1911 spring to it as it felt nicest that way for me.That is in a 40S&W though!! However with a 10mm you might need to play around with the spring setup. The standard spring will be the first to take up the recoil energy and then as the slide comes back and starts to compress the second spring that is where the dampening will start to take. For that reason you may need to try out other weight springs to see how they feel taking up that first part of the cycle.
  14. Hey there I have been using the "duplex" spring arrangement in my .40S&W for about 4 years now and swear by it. I shoot IPSC so the major is 170pf minimum and I run at around 175pf to be safe. I simply got a standard 1911 10lb spring and cut it down to approximately 1 1/2 inchs and "screwed" it onto the factory spring and they both then sit on the guide rod nicely. The benefit I have found is that it acts as a slide buffer but also reduced the recoil flip at the end of the recoil action I was getting before. I now get very little muzzle rise and a much softer recoil push. I would imagine this would be even better on a 10mm with the recoil energy that produces compared with a 40S&W!
  15. Hey Henning Sweet looking shirt!! Will have to get me one!! All the best in Serbia, "Kick Ass And Take Numbers"!!!

    grips

Just a heads up on using CZ grips on Tanfoglios, they don't always fit properly!! I did some experiments with CZ grips on my Tanfoglios and only one of four fit adequately. It would pay to confirm with these guys that they will fit your pistol before committing to a purchase. On the other hand Hennings grips will definately fit and are sweet!
  17. Just a heads up on the CZ grips, I had a look at these and while they do fit they will be a little short on the front and stick out on the back of the frame. This was on a small frame gun so it you would need to do alot of reworking to make them fit a large frame. Best option is to get the Henning grips and build them up!!
  18. I agree with you that every call you receive, especially business calls, should be returned within 24 hours but the reality sometimes is that it is not possible as it seems is the case with Henning at this time. In terms of your gun breakage two days before a match, you simply have to improvise and adapt!! I am not trying to be glib here but in a market like the USA which is hugely geared towards 1911/S_I style pistols, repairs and parts are minutes away but when you have something less accessible for parts etc like the Witness/Tanfoglio you do need to be either totally prepared or more adaptable. Where I am it can take literally months to get bits so we have learned to either have any bits we might need on hand, adapt or not shoot the match this week!! Either way the world does not stop spinning on its axis!! As I said before, I am sure Henning will touch base and sort all this out as soon as he possibly can. I also appreciate your position that the last comment was not a threat but a statement of reality but stick to my comment that it wasn't needed or needed to be said in such a way, just my opinion!! At the end of the day I am glad you didn't take offence, unfortunately many would and that your happy with your two toys, they are great guns and hope you keep them and continue to be part of the Witness/Tanfoglio community.
  19. I have dealt with Henning for a long time now and never had an issue. His service and help has always been top notch!! I think you need to remember that he is very busy, as Cha Lee mentioned, most of the time spending long hours working on cool new products that make our pistols better and more competitive to shoot. How about cutting him some slack, just because he is not responding to you instantly does not mean he is ignoring you, it is just that he is busy as I am sure we all are at times!! He will be in touch I am sure and sort out your issues. I will apologise now if this offends you, that is not my intention but as I indicated earlier a little patience will go a long way!! Also, your inane threat at the end was not needed. Have fun with your Edge!!
  20. Hey Cha-Lee Very nice job. Just one question, is there any particular reason you have kept the factory trigger and not gone to the new Henning straight trigger??
  21. +1 for the Speedsec gear. I have been using the holster and mag holders for around 3 years now and they are awesome. In terms of the mag holders I have used Safariland and CR Speed and prefer the Speedsec holders they are adjustable and also easier to adjust. On Hennings website he lists Speedmag pouches, but it says large frame under both of them? I have a small frame... does it not matter or?? As Henning's has said I don't think they make one for the small mags. You can tighten the large pouch so that a small frame mag sits tight but you will get movement forwards and backwards as the pouches are longer. One thing you could possibly do is change the rollers on the inside to a slightly larger diameter to take up the slack. I haven't tried this personally but can try and report abck if you want!

  23. Your right any of your mag pads, including the H-141S, are now legal in IPSC Production as long as you only load 15 rnds. The nice thing about the 550's in a Production gun will be that extra length for a sure seat of the mag but also fitting in the IPSC box for Standard so you can run the combo-gun as you mention. Looking forward to getting some when they are ready!!!
  24. The new rule takes affect from 01 January 2010 so cannot use Hennings pad's until then. As soon as that day arrives though you are good to go!!!! For those small frame owners out there that may not know, Henning will be making his H-520/550 for the small frames and they should be available before January. These will be nice for Production but also nice if you want to shoot Standard division in IPSC with your Production gun as they will fit in the box!!
