  1. I thought it was against the rules to shoot a NT. Most of the matches around Alabama don't place the NT targets close enough to a threat target IMO. When I look at a NT target after a match and only see 1 or 2 holes that tells me the NT did not come into play. Back when I could shoot my match plan was no NTs, no misses, no -3 and no PEs. I would usually be the SSP/ESP Division Winner if that plan came to fruition. After my motorcycle crash 4+ years ago IDPA allowed me to start all over as a Marksman. Currently I am a 3 gun Expert - big whoop. Oh well.
  2. It had a ten shot SD of 5. That surprised me as I was using mixed brass. I have not had a chance to check the drop. I may need to add a tangent rear sight for those long shots. I do know at 15 yds it was hitting center. About the longest shot we will have in our IDPA match is 20 yds. It works well with a 200 gr LSWC also. I really like those big holes. Years ago, back when I could shoot, I would walk with the scorer and make a note of any hit that got the higher value due to the large bullet diameter that would not have had I been shooting a 9mm. I picked up anywhere from 3-6 seconds on a typical 100-120 round match. That is a huge number if you are/were an upper level Master. The 41 is a much nicer gun than my old 21. What I have found interesting is the grip angle w/o inserts is identical to a 1911 with a flat main spring housing. OTOH my go to gun is still my trusty G35.
  3. 13 ISMI. I have been shooting lead bullets through stock Glock barrels for 12+ years. Where is that MarkCo character when you need him? He is the one that started all that nonsense years ago. We use a 160 gr bullet in 9mm, a 180 gr in .40 and 200/230 gr in .45. It is important to use "lead friendly" powder. We use Solo 1000, Clays, Promo and Clay Dot.
  4. I loaded up some Clays today with a 230 gr lead bullet. 2.5 gr of Cays sent that bullet screaming along at 575 fps. I thought my G41 was going to snap in half.
  5. Just buy a Kimber in 9mm. Get a .40 Kimber barrel and you can shoot both calibers with one gun. Kimber uses the same breech face for both. BTDT.
  6. Another Philippine gun. I had one. Not a bad buy as it comes with an adjustable rear sight. The RIA Tactical is a pretty decent buy. Here you go. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_1171/products_id/411552651/Girsan+MC1911-G2+.45ACP+5%22+BlackComes from our good NATO bud Turkey.
  7. I had a customer that wanted a 1911 trigger feel for his Glock 22. It took a little doing, but I gave him a short crisp 2 lb pull using one of my trigger bars and an 8 lb connector. He loved it.
  8. My 9mm Range Officer weighs in at 42.6 oz with a S&A mag well, FLGR and square bottom wooden grips. I have hogged out the opening of the mag well. Not sure how much weight that took out.
  9. My wife and I have shot tens of thousands of lead Valiant bullets through the years - 9mm, .40 and .45ACP. All through stock Glock barrels. Where is MarkCo when you need him to tell me my Glock will blow up.
  10. The best? Why of course the Joe D Wonder Trigger. Ask around Alabama and Georgia. I don't do drop ins. Must have your gun. A drop in will never be as good as one tuned for your gun. How light do you want to go 1lb? I generally set mine at 1 1/2 lbs.
  11. I have been shooting a G41 in SSP for several months now. ,The slide outside dimensions are the same as a 34/35. I use a 13 lb ISMI spring. You can use the same holster as a 34/35. May have to heat up the Kydex just a touch at the bottom with some holsters. I shoot a 130 pf load with 200 gr LSWC bullets. 3.0 gr of Clays/ClayDot. OAL 1.250". It will not point the same as the Gen 3 Glocks. I shoot mine without a grip insert. Points the same as a 1911 with flat MSH. It weighs between a 34 and 35. A 35 will always shoot softer than a 34.The 41 shoots as soft as my 35. I like the big cookie cutter holes. Of course mine has the world famous Joe D Wonder Trigger - 1 1/4 lb pull. I added Ameriglo FO front and plain black rear.
  12. My 9mm RO weighs 42.4 oz. steel FLGR, S&A magwell, square bottom wooden grips and Dawson FO front. It feeds flawlessly from Checkmate 10 rd 38 Super mags. I do load out to 1.200" with a 160 gr lead bullet. Replaced the SA sear with an EGW sear. I do that on all 1911s. Trigger pull is at 1 1/4 lbs. Had to make the pull the same weight as my Glock triggers.
  13. Here is a very soft shooting load. 160 gr lead or plated with 2.8 gr Solo 1000. It does make a 125 PF. Remember the heavier the bullet, the softer it will shoot. As others have said, leave the Shield at home. I am guessing the Tac Sol is a .22 conversion. That would be the best one to use. Every time I see a post from someone living in a gun unfriendly state I realize how fortunate we are in the South. I live 1 1/2 miles from one of the nicest outdoor ranges in the South.
  14. I tried to "Swiss cheese" at stock striker once - PIA. You have to use a carbide drill bit.
  15. No need to lube .40 and .45. Lubing a 9mm case greatly reduces the effort required to size the case. I make my own Dillon lube. I take a gallon freezer bag and spray a couple of shots against the sides of the bag. Dump the brass in and shake it.
  16. I use the steel Lightning Strike exclusively. Don't know if it has an extended tip. OTOH never had a light strike. You cannot use a 4 lb spring with the stock striker. Guess I have never tested the pull weight with the stock striker and 4 lb spring. The Nitride finish is very durable and slick. http://shop.lspi.com/Steel-Striker-for-GLOCK-Pistols-LS-7920.htm
  17. My wife's 34 has a 14oz pull. All safeties functional. 4# striker spring with a lightweight steel striker.
  18. I bought two on sale at Midway for $29.95 last year.
  19. Yes, I have a drawer full of trigger bars. On occasion I can pull one out and pair it with a trigger shoe and get a 1 1/4# pull. I am usually not that lucky. I just bend the tab forward to remove pre-travel yet keep all the safeties working.
  20. I found Clay Dot to be identical to Clays in my chrono tests. Minor PF only testing done. BTW if you are having light charges of Clays/CD dropping inconsistent weights strap one of these to the side of your Dillon hopper. http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=aquarium%20pump&typeahead=aquarium%20pump I made a hook out of a clothes hanger and stuck the end into the vent hole in the hopper lid. Took an elastic strap off some sunglasses to snug it up against the aluminum bottom. I threw 20 charges of 2.4 gr of Clays. They were identical.
  21. You can also add weight by using a 1911 steel main spring housing.
  22. Remember in IDPA you must have the adapter attached to the guide rod on a Gen 4 Glock. Just using an insert in the front of the slide puts you in ESP. I run a Lone Wolf rod in my G41. All the rest of our Glocks are Gen 3. I usually run a 13# ISMI. The original 11# ISMI spring design was not good. ISMI sent me a prototype to test. Maybe they have changed the design by now. A Gen 4 34 will not run a 160 gr bullet at a 130 PF reliably.
  23. Folks there is no such thing as a true sub 2 lb drop in trigger. I have been doing Glock triggers for 15 years. I have had many shooters ask me to send them a drop in trigger. I MUST have the gun. You are dealing with stamped parts and very loose tolerances. My trigger job may or may not work in different Glocks. I have seen too many trigger jobs, done by people that don't know what they are doing, double. Trigger bars can be adjusted to fit the individual's hand size. Striker release point can also be adjusted.
  24. Best mag pouches - Ready Tactical or Mean Rick. http://www.skdtac.com/Ready-Tactical-Holster-p/rdt.203.htm Chris is a personal friend of mine.
  25. I would tend to agree with your statement. I lived in ATL for 20 yrs. Belonged to GADPA,River Bend and South River. I most likely shot with you. The MAJOR downside to ATL is the traffic. Bad beyond belief. That's why we moved to Birmingham. Brock's Gap rivals South River. Birmingham has one of the best VA hospitals in the nation. BTDT many times. Winder is OK location wise. Buckhead sucked. Glad to get away from that rat race. We actually live in Hoover.
