  1. I use 147 gr lead bullets over 2.7-2.8 gr of Clay Dot 138PF. 16" cheap barrel from Midway. 1:10 twist. Stacks bullets at 20 yds.
  2. Wrong. It will work with any primers.

Dang, I had better stop running those lead bullets through my Glocks. Only been doing it for 15+ years.

    Cleats?

My new shoes arrived today. https://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view;_ylt=AwrT6V3pKu9U3nwARK4nnIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTB0aWRtNmFyBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2dxMQR2dGlkA1lIUzAwMV8x?p=ice+climbing+cleats&back=https%3A%2F%2Fsearch.yahoo.com%2Fyhs%2Fsearch%3Fp%3Dice%2Bclimbing%2Bcleats%26ei%3DUTF-8%26hsimp%3Dyhs-001%26hspart%3Dmozilla&w=580&h=393&imgurl=www.rockclimbing.com%2Fimages%2Fgear%2Fproducts%2F3%2F5743-large_1587L.jpg&size=24KB&name=5743-large_1587L.jpg&rcurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rockclimbing.com%2Fgear%2FAlpine_Ice_Climbing%2FCrampons%2FMega_Ice_1587.html&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rockclimbing.com%2Fgear%2FAlpine_Ice_Climbing%2FCrampons%2FMega_Ice_1587.html&type=&no=2&tt=120&oid=cfc7807bcadddac3e2bedf769d2f0cee&tit=Premier+Sponsor%3A&sigr=12gp1hpps&sigi=12039biqc&sign=10k461uq3&sigt=103vg5ole&sigb=12vumrqfo&fr=yhs-mozilla-001&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001

    DQ?

Load and make ready? All this time I thought the proper range command was "Heat up that Roscoe". I learn something new all the time.
  6. Jim, I shot my G23 in Montgomery for 3 of the 6 stages. I shot it better than my G35. I even got a bold number on one of the stages. I think I am going to have Josh cut the slide on the Kimber for an adjustable rear sight. I don't care for the look of the fixed rear it came with. That old slick grip G23 does shoot pretty nice though. All this gun stuff is interfering with my Mustang supercharger project.
  7. Just finished "tuning" my new CCP gamer gun. Kimber Pro Carry HD. Full size steel frame. 4.0" cone barrel. A 200 gr. LSWC bullet screaming along at 635 fps is just visceral. The recoil is brutal. Hope I don't shatter my wrist bones.

    Cleats?

A rusty nail would require more force. OTOH some of our "heavier" shooters could penetrate their shoes with a rail road spike.

    Cleats?

Our club just received the Official Cleat Softness Tester from IDPA HQ. It comes with a built in temperature gage to catch those that try to soften the cleats with a heat gun.
  10. G23 with steel guide rod, 13# spring, lightweight striker, light striker spring, FO front sight, 125.1PF loads and the world famous 1 lb. Joe D Wonder Trigger. There will be more gaming in CCP than ESP. OTOH I may just buy a 4" 1911.
  11. Lone Wolf makes one also.
  12. Shooting Unique is the same as shooting black powder. Try a more modern powder.
  13. I know what the NHRA did to the Pro Motorcycles. The Suzukis were out running the Harleys. NHRA just kept adding weight to the Suzukis until the Harleys started winning.. Easy fix - add ankle weights to Vogel. I am thinking 30 lbs on each leg would be a good starting point.
  14. Update on my G41 for CDP. It actually works pretty well with a 15# ISMI spring. I posted my loads in another section of the Forum. Our next IDPA match is in two weeks. We shall see.
  15. Easiest way to avoid SP .45 cases is to DQ any shooter caught using them in a match. That's standard practice at our range.
  16. I've never had a glock slide go forward on it's own when seating a mag. Can you explain how you do this? I've been able to do this with M&P's but never a glock..... I use 13# ISMI springs and a slightly modified lever. I put a slight bevel on the part of the lever that sits in the slide notch.
  17. Two of my shooting buds shot the Nationals. One was the High Senior and the other was High Distinguished Senior. I just looked at the scores again and the site shows Bob only 10 points down. Guess he needs to speed up a bit.
  18. Guys, trust me when I say no one ever "waits on the slide". Years ago I was running a friend on the clock when his Glock went full auto. You can't pull the trigger fast enough. I load a 160 gr lead bullet for 9mm. It does not shoot as softly as a 180 gr .40 at a 130PF.
  19. It's all about grip angle and bore axis. Glocks have 2011/1911 beat in both areas. A big Glock plus is you don't have to touch the slide release. Seat the mag and the slide goes forward.

    Glock 41 In CDP

I had played around with my G41 and light loads for SSP and liked it. So I decided to try it in CDP. I installed a 15# ISMI spring and loaded up some 230 LRN bullets. 3.5 gr. of Clays yielded a 169 PF. 4.0 of Clays and a 200 LSWC was a little too close to the 165 PF. May have to bump that up to 4.1 gr. No need for a magwell or Barney mag. I will have to change my typical IDPA stage designs. No more 18 rounders.
  21. I too load all .45ACP to 1.250". Seems to work well for 230 RN and 200 SWC.
  22. Tested today with the 15# ISMI spring and 3.5 gr of Clays with a 230 LRN. 3.5 went 736 fps. Or a 169 PF. Shot even softer with that setup.
  23. Hmmm, now what gun did Robert Vogel use to win the IDPA Nationals? Answer G35 He was only 20 points down for the match. I asked him why a .40 vs 9mm. Response. The .40 shoots softer.
  24. I have always used Clays/Clay Dot in .45ACP with lead bullets. No real issue with soot in a match.
