cperazza
So 2 in 1... 2011 5" Limited - Understand personal preference for both of these, but want to hear the pros/cons 1) Rear Fiber Optic vs Black background - Easier sight / target acquisition & contrast? - Too busy/bright to the eyes? Distracting? 2) StainlessSteel vs Aluminum Magwell - Dry firing magazine punishment - stainless steel holds up better? - Overall weight difference helps some with recoil flatness? Dipping? Thanks for your comments and feedback on advance!

Thanks for your comments and feedback on advance! Rear black sight with front fiber optic for fast sight acquisition.Aluminum magwell wouldn't add enough weight to make a difference such as a steel magwell like Akai or Limcat would. ltdmstr
On the sight, most people find the inserts distracting and prefer plain black. For the magwell, the weight isn't going to make much of a difference in terms of recoil control. It will change how the gun feels and some people like heavy guns. Over the years, I've moved from heavy guns with soft recoil to light guns and snappy recoil. So it really comes down to what you like. Of course, any type of steel is going to be more durable than aluminum. If I were choosing an aluminum magwell, I'd get a Dawson with the insert (although if you're buying SV, that's not an option). muncie21
My SV has the rear sight with fiber, exactly like your picture. Too distracting for me so I blacked out the fiber with a marker. I also have STI with standard adjustable all black rear and much prefer this type of sight.

cperazza
@arkadi@muncie21@IHAVEGAS@ltdmstr@Rnlinebacker@Silverscooby27 Thanks for the feedback...it is always good getting different perspectives. All my 2011 sights are the predominantly Front FO and Rear Plain Black...Was wondering to see if trying something different was worth it. My SV has an Aluminum Magwell, thought adding the Stainless Steel Magwell will help some with recoil. Plus it would last longer given the dry firing punishment practicing reloads. I do like the heavier pistols like my Atlases with Stainless Steel Magwells. Edited May 17, 2020 by cperazza

stemikel
I have tried rear FO sights and found them to be too distracting.
bcane98
Lining up 3 dots felt like more work than putting the front dot in the valley... I changed all my rear site to blacked out, and haven’t looked back (no pun intended) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Happyfeet
An aluminum mag well can help you make weight in 9mm if you are using a full length guide rod
