Hi-Power Jack
Paul, there are two ways to draw : 1. the scoop (lift gun with 3 fingers and then acquire a shooting grip) and 2. push down and acquire the grip and then lift up. Which do you usually do ?

PaulW
Early on I use to scoop. Worked great in practice but at matches I learned that the scoop and adrenaline were a disaster waiting to happen. After almost dropping the gun a few times I abandonded this methood. So I set my wrist and my thought is to just rotate my arm at my right elbow down to gun and grasp gun.

wgj3
I'm sure he is just "prepping the trigger" in some form of B.A.-operator-bad-assery that we mortals who have never been green berets would never be able to comprehend...

Hi-Power Jack
At least the gun is pointing more at the cameraman than the shooter ...

Pasley
I think that if people got video of their super fast draw and looked at it frame by frame; many would see that they are getting on the trigger a lot sooner in the draw stroke than they thought. Remarkably fast draws ... Even with the wax bullets, and no powder, most of them had some type of "deflector" in case the gun went off a little too soon ... and those holsters were pointing forward of the leg anyway. Took a two day course with a GM few years ago, and he felt that a consistent 1.25 second draw is fast enough - very little advantage over an entire field course to reducing that and become "inconsistent".
