thehudge
I am looking for 9mm major loading data. I'm not new to reloading or USPA but have never loaded 9 major, so I am looking for anything (info) I can get. Preferred powder(s), bullet weight, OAL. Also, loaded data and velocities. I know its a lot but anything would be a help. Thank you.
shooterDrew
Have you searched this topic? There are lengthy ongoing threads about various powders and loads available. Search "9mm major" or "9 major" and you'll get plenty of info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
kneelingatlas
Welcome to the forums John, this forum probably contains the the largest concentration of 9 major load data on the internet, all just a search away I suggest you start here: If you still want to ask for help, we're going to need some specifics if the BEnos hive mind is going to offer any intelligent guidance: about the gun -make? type of comp? barrel length? holes in the barrel? how big? how many? -do you already have components? which type of powder? bullets? thehudge
After I posted I used the search. What a ton of information. Thanks for the link. Lets maybe push pause on this thread for a bit as I got a lot of reading to do. Thanks again.

Hi-Power Jack
Best Advice: Start low, go slow, with a chrono. You'll probably like a 124 gr JHP bullet over c 6.7 gr WAC at 1.15"+.
mwray
The 115's are pretty rough on the gunSent from my iPad using Tapatalk

jcc7x7
5500 115grs with hs6 on my new this year Bedell and not a wear mark on anything yet. Gonna shoot some 125's cause I have a case of them over the winter. I do like the feel of the 125s For me no difference on the timer.
Hi-Power Jack
I started out shooting 115's with HS6, ten years ago. Must have fired at least 5,000 thru my TruBor Major 9mm ... Never noticed any problems with it ... I switched over to 124's and WAC because it doesn't fill the case so much - kept spilling during the reloading process. thehudge
Is there a general rule for OAL? I'm loading for a CZ Checkmate and was wondering if it's (OAL) to the individual gun or is its more make and model specific? I guess I'm looking for a starting point as i just received the 9mm tool head and will start reloading (major9) next week.
kneelingatlas
It depends on the bullet type, plated RN can load as long as 1.170" in a factory CZ barrel, but JHP might be as short as 1.115", you'll have to plunk test it to find out. Let me know if you want to ream the barrel to load longer.
thehudge
My intent is to use 125gr Blue Bullets. They are in-route along with WAC powder.

I don't have any experience with coated bullets, maybe someone can help. You didn't buy a great quantity of that combo did you?
Garmil
125 blue bullets are a bad profile if you want to load long. I've tried a bunch of different bullets those had to be loaded the shortest.
shooterDrew
Not blue bullets but I just got into 9 major loading SNS casting 125s. Needed about 6.6-6.7 gr of WAC to get me into major at 1.160" oal. So far I'm happy with them. They do lead the comp and smoke like a freight train (while somewhat hilarious in video I don't really notice while shooting), but I figure that's the price I pay to be able to shoot more bullets for the same cost as MG or some other good jacketed bullet. jcc7x7
I loaded blue at 1.175 in my old 9 major gun with o worries. Like always plunk test for oal, they ran great at 1.175, as said above saw smoke in the video's but not noticed while shooting them
thehudge
Yes I did buy a quantity of WAC (8#) and about 2000 bullets but even if they don't work well together, I can load them up in my other 9mm's.
