Gdub
I think I'm going to buy my 1st AR. I have it narrowed down to the rifles in the topic. Which one would you choose and why?
EaZeNuTZ33
Armalite. I have one in my safe from a prize table and I'm impressed with it. The adjustable comp and gas block should let you really tune it for you. It's not a ton behind my competition rifle that is much more expensive. amccallister
For an out of the box rifle on a budget the Armalite is the heat. I bought one of the .308 versions and have been very impressed with it so far. The Armalite handguard is excellent, it comes with a great buttstock, decent trigger, adjustable gas and a nice tunable comp. Even the charging handle is top notch (Armalite branded Raptor) Literally the only thing I changed before shooting a match was the trigger guard. I don't think the Stag is even close. T Bacus
My son James has owned both. He sold his Stag to buy the Armalite and has not regretted the decision.
Hoosiershooter
Armalite, this coming from a Stag owner. Everything that's been said above is why. The Stag barrel is very nice I will say though.
Moltke
I have both the 13 inch and 18 Armalite rifles and they are pretty fantastic
PHX
Armalite 18. Both are great. You get the extra velocity with the 18.
MrRick
Good to know. Just ordered an Armalite 18. Wasn't impressed with the Stang 3G.
Jesse Tischauser
The Armalite is more gun and it's cheaper then the Stag. Maybe now Stag will fix that unbearable break they have been using. Edited December 14, 2015 by Jesse Tischauser
Neomet
At the risk of getting flagged for piling in...... Armalite. My 18" has been flawless.
Hi-Power Jack
How would you describe the difference between the 13" and the 18" Armalite? How much time would you lose hosing ten targets with the shorter barrel? (It can't be as soft shooting as the 18").

You would probably come out ahead with the smaller (lighter) gun for close range hosing because you can drive it faster when transitioning between targets with the same amount of muscle, even if there was a barely discernible difference in felt recoil.
