bthoefer
Has anyone tried both, how do they compare? I have the VZs on my SP-01s and am thinking of trying the thick double alphas to get a little more space for my left hand. I've handled the thin double alphas, but haven't been able to try a set of the thick grips.

bthoefer
Take a look at www.shootingsportsinnovations.com I've handled those on a tanfo, and the open design did nothing for me.
MRevolutionIX
I don't have shooting experience with the VZ grips but have handled them on other's guns. I run the DAA thick grips on my shadows and the one thing that I prefer over the other options (factory rubber and plastic, CZC thin, etc.) is the width/thinckness continues thru the rear of the grip. There are other grips that measure wider than the DAA but taper as it gets close to the heal of the grip. In my opinion, the DAA thick fills my hands and gives me enough area for my support hand. elguapo
According to the DAA website the wide grips are like 1.26" across. The VZ Diamondbacks on my 75 measure 1.205 across. Can't beat the diamondbacks for traction. They will leave a mark
adamge
elgua, the aluminum grips totally decked out in grip tape I think have more grip than the VZs. I do really like the VZs, though.
elguapo
Have you held a gun with Diamondbacks on? The checkering on those is GNARLY. That, plus the camber that's on the VZ grips that really fills the hand, makes the gun stick on like glue. himurax13
I have grip taped out aluminum grips and the Diamondbacks, but for some reason I like the grip tape better.

Grip tape feels more locked in to me, but the diamondbacks are grippy. There is a definite difference in how they feel.
adamge
elgua, yes, I have, a Shadow. I was having trouble buying the Diamondbacks so I went griptape instead, and I'm happy with it. It's more aggressive than Diamondbacks.
eric nielsen
I've tried both VZ and DAA thick as well as Tyc-model thick aluminum (with tape) from CZ and several wood grips. In my opinion these beat all of them; put small strips of grip tape at the top and bottom, let your hands get used to them, and your good to go: http://www.shootingsportsinnovations.com/CZ-SCALES-BLACK-CZBLK001.htm PS: if anyone wants a Shark Fin (same company) for 2011, let me know. Great part but my hands are too big to make a good fit.
Leadpilot
I use both but I prefer the DAA's only when they're covered in grip tape. The Hogue aluminum grips covered in tape feel great too.
Lior
The only beef I have with the DAA grips is that they're flatter than the concavity of a flexed palm . The contour of the factory rubber grip is the style I prefer for Shadows. But they're ideal for grip taping.
bthoefer
Well I broke down and ordered a set of the thick DAA grips. We'll see how they work out.

I too prefer the palm swells of the OEM rubber to the flat aluminum grips and have gorilla hands.
