lrdchaos
I've looked at a number of pistols and have pretty much decided to build a custom limited through Akai or Cheely. Other than the cost, is there any reason no to build a custom to shoot for the next couple of years before I pass it down to my son?
aandabooks
I don't see why not. It will retain value unless you abuse it. And your son will be getting a really nice gun.
JWard79
I have a Cheely with another on the way. Getting a full custom will provide a 95% solution, the remaining 5% will be personal preference (which may change over time).

lwink
I think it's a great idea -- sure it will be expensive and some may question why it's necessary, but why do non professional drivers buy a Ferrari, or any high end sports car? If they want it and enjoy it I say go for it!
LegionShooter
If it's what you want and the cost isn't a big concern then there's no reason not to. I have a 1911 on order now that's a full custom. No real intention of using it to compete; just to carry, range time, and to enjoy.
PalmBeach1
Agree with all the above. If this is something you are wanting, why not.
MGMorden
Sure. Guns hold their value pretty good - particularly 2011's. I say go for it. It's kinda depressing compared to my other hobby - computer gaming, where you can build a $1500 system and in 8 years it's hard to find someone that would take it off your hands for $100. Biloxi23
These are my two rules for gun buying: One, you want it and two, you either have or can get the money.

Thaunk
If you've got the money, interest, and the patience I say go for it.
kcobean
A nice gun is a nice gun no matter where it's being shot. A Ferrari is a Ferrari whether it's in the parking lot or on the race course. I say go for it.
bfalcon00
Yeah go for it those are nice guns, though I've never owned one. Hmm maybe I need to convince pops that he needs one haha.
EngelMacher
How old is your son? If you think he's old enough, I'd even suggest building one with him. He will remember that experience and have the gun as a physical reminder forever.
lrdchaos
Well I mixed it up a little. I picked up a new in Box Sig X5 Black and White for a smoking deal. The 2011 will have to wait 9-10 months, But I think I will enjoy the X5 for the time being.
