Postal Bob
I have a 6" Brazos limited gun. It came with a 12 lb recoil spring, which is what Brazos recommends. Just wondering if I should go lower, and what others are running in their 6" guns. My loads are about 179 pf.
2MoreChains
12 lb is what I use in my 6" .40. Slide has been lightened a little but nothing extreme. I chrono'd 176 at Nats.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Lower your power factor and run a 12.5lb ISMI recoil spring with a 17lb ISMI mainspring with 165 grain bullets. That is a sweet combo in a 6" limited pistol. Thanks, Eric
Postal Bob
Oops, my error in the pf. I meant 169 pf. So with that correct pf, should I drop to an 11 lb or lower recoil spring? Edited January 23, 2015 by Postal Bob
Steve RA
Get two or three lower weight ones and see which gets you the closest double taps, that would be the one to use.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: A 12.5lb recoil spring will work great in your 6" gun for major or minor loads. Thanks, Eric

blaster113
Had a 12lb Wolff in my old 6" with ultra light slide. I wouldn't go any lighter than 12lbs, especially if running 179pf ammo.
RangerTrace
I like a 10# in mine When I had a 6" I ran a 10# Sprinco with two shock buffs. It was a sweet shooting pistol.

That was a typo. I'm running 169 pf ammo.
redwoods
Had some jams in my 6" running minor loads and a 12.5 ismi spring. That was with a fully jammed mag of 20 rounds. After the first round. Will download my mags or run a lighter spring next time. Randy
Sandbagger123
I am running a 10# in mine and it shoot flat. Put a alumabuff in it also. Had a 12 and the first shot would go center and the second would go low.
titandriver
I run a 10lb as well in my six inch pistols.
redwoods
I made up some new minor loads (old minor load was 140pf) with a 130 pf. The 10 lb spring in my 6" Camerons Custom would jam and stovepipe. I think I need a lighter recoil spring. I also need to find out what mainspring weight is in it.

redwoods
I found out I have a 17 lb mainspring in the gun and with my 10 lb recoil spring, it is short stroking minor loads. I am going to try a 9 lb then maybe an 8 lb spring. I just don't want to go too low and batter the gun.
Scott Steele
9 lb will be fine with about a 135 PF. What brand spring you using? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Boris Zaretsky
I have stovepipe in my gun always on the last round. Started happening just a month ago. What could it be. Any one has ideas?

redwoods
I use Wolff recoil springs in my 1911 guns, with the exception of 12.5 lb springs. those are ISMI. I use the 12.5 ISMI for my 6" 40 major limited gun.
