Garmil
Just bought some longshot powder and want some light (135 gr maybe) 40 bullets for major in an open glock. Who has these and which are the best? Not finding much.

ZackJones
Bayou Bullets has 140's as well http://bayoubullets.net/40-caliber-s-w/I haven't see anything lighter than 140 in .40 S&W. If you find something lighter I'd like to know as I'd consider it for an ultralight steel challenge load.
ano
I linked this to a friend, he has a open glock .40 as well, and are looking for the same, typicly we would want something with hollowpoint for longer bearing surface and accuracy, but regular ones very light are also interesting as you can pack more 3n38 and n105 behind it. Who has these and which are the best? Not finding much. Hi there, First of all, you should review the Open 40 thread at: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77956&p=902806 As for light bullets, I have been using the Rainier 135 plated bullets for the last decade or so. I run them anywhere between 1250 to 1300 FPS without any issues. Among other suppliers, Midway carries them. Berrys bullets also has a 135. In my gun, the Rainier had slightly better groupings. I have not tried the Bayou bullets that the guys have mentioned but I did shoot some SNS casting coated 140s and they were way to smokey for my tastes. The Rainiers are very clean. I use either N-340 or Autocomp. Later, Chuck ETA: If you want JHP, you can use the Nosler (and I think Sierra) 135s. They shoot great but are (or at least were) 2x$ of the plated bullets. Links: http://www.rainierballistics.com/ And it looks like Berrys dropped their 135 Edited December 18, 2014 by ChuckS
Garmil
Thanks guys. Anyone have a guess for starting load for rainier 140 with longshot? looking to be Around 1250 fps to start with.
RiggerJJ
In my open 40 I run Montana Gold 155jpg with hs6. Tried the 135 rainers and didn't care for them, the MG have better accuracy and didn't notice any difference in the recoil/muzzle flip. jj

Had unburnt powder crumbs all over. Both N-350 and Silhouette exhibited this issue. Later, Chuck

JoeyMac
Sorry is i'm late to the discussion , but here's some 115gr frangibles in bulk. Decent price too considering it's not a cheap plated or anything (12cents). Think the only problem you might have is actually reaching major with a 115gr pill in a short OAL like a glock uses. Might be better in a 2011 or 10mm. https://www.americanreloading.com/en/40-sw-bullets/155-40-sw-115gr-frangible-bullets-500-ct.html
dogtired
I just tried out some 140 grain coated lead bullets from Missouri Bullet Company. I quickly shot the 100 count trial pack up and will order 1k when I get around to it. I have shot thousands of their lead bullets without difficulty.
