Steve RA
I've always used 17lb in all my 1911s, at least since I started messing with the innards.

cwhoward1
I trust all of you discussing the weight of the springs use the Dillon Spring Tester? I was amazed, once I purchased one and tested my springs in my guns, all of those 20-30 year masters with all that great advice on what weight spring to use, did NOT even own a spring tester. They could just tug on the spring and estimate a weight. I just have so much to learn, and so little time!
Steve RA
No, I think Wolff has a small grip on what they are producing. At least, the 17lb main springs from them have always worked as expected.
Chris iliff
Most smiths use a 17. When primers got hard to get I managed to get some wolf primers. Long story short a 17 will not always light off wolf primers. Soooooo, I put in a 19. This upped my trigger right at an 1/8 of a pound increase, but every round went bang. WhiteDingo
I have a 19 in my open gun, but only because of the SVI QB hammer. It will go 95% of the time with a 17, but I prefer some breathing room.

BoyGlock
19 less a few coils. Its a bit more than a 17. Lights up russian pistol primers all the time and trigger pull at 2#.
