Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. OAL for Glock 34, I use an OAL of 1.143 for my Glock 34 and my STI 9mm. While I have a lot of extreme bullets, I am finishing with them and moving to MontanaGold and/or Precision Delta bullets. We have found these two brands result in better grouping than the extreme brand. That is 3-4 different shooters using their loads in their guns to determine the grouping difference between the brand of bullets.
  2. If you are going to reload - you really want to case gauge your rounds!!!!!! 35
  3. Website and DVC Open and Limited ounces or weight. The STI Website does not have the two DVC's listed. What is the weight of each new DVC? 71
  4. Anyone know the weight of the new STI DVC?
  5. I trust all of you discussing the weight of the springs use the Dillon Spring Tester? I was amazed, once I purchased one and tested my springs in my guns, all of those 20-30 year masters with all that great advice on what weight spring to use, did NOT even own a spring tester. They could just tug on the spring and estimate a weight. I just have so much to learn, and so little time!
  6. Given your STI magazines are less than 6 months old, I would call STI - get an RMA and have them replaced. That should not happen. You can also get your new magazines coated by robarguns.com with NP3 or other coatings. Then they are guaranteed for life. I just visited their facility a few weeks ago and learned about the magazine treatment in addition to the complete gun. I have one NP3 coated gun and I am having a second handgun also treated with their NP3 product.
  7. Interesting you mention the factory crimp die. Could you share how you setup and measure the amount of crimp you use with your crimp die? Thanks.
  8. hercster: Don't even consider Tucson for shooting! It is so strenuous, we have two matches each weekend withing 60 miles of Tucson. Almost each day of the week, we also have some type of practice match. Being retired is more fun than all those days at work. Any you know by reloading, you are saving money each time you pull the trigger! Your spouse will be glad to hear that. Just think, each day you return from shooting, you spouse will say " How much did you save today-dear?"
  9. Did you pick up the Open Gun yet? I only buy new - Open is picky enough - I would not want to buy someone's elses problems. I decided upon STI, since my 2nd gun was and STI and ran so well. They clearly stand behind any issue you have. Dawson - gunsmiths have been very helpful as well. Good Luck and the front end investment pays off in the end.
  10. STI GM vs Trubor, I have been shooting the GM for about 1.5 years. First of all, I would buy the 38 Super. I shoot 9 Major in mine as well as many of my fellow shooters. The GM is a few oz (44.6 vs 42.0) heavier than the Trubor. I like the extra weight. I am using the Dawson tool-less guide rod at this time - it is just plain easier to clean after every outing ( like you have to do with an open gun). I personally like the blue look instead of black like all the other guys. I have found 38 super brass on the web and reload it with 130 gr bullets and enjoy the rise and recoil. I also use 147 gr Xtreme and shoot 9 major with the GM. What has been most suprising it the issues I have had with the C-More. One had a bad on/off switch, then the screws on the mount to the slide keep comming lose, now - the elevation lock screw continues to loosen and I hate to use glue on the plastic. Which ever gun you chose, I am sure you will enjoy the STI product. Buy new - don't buy someone else's problem child.
  11. The shooter TY45927 did all these on the same day. That is a lot of bullets to shoot and reload. All shot on 11/21/2010 and posted with the dates noted. 6 classifiers in open ‎ , posted 2/9/2011 1 limited, posted 1/24/2011 1 limited10, posted 1/24/2011 6 production, posted 1/24/2011 6 revolver.posted 1/24/2011 6 Single Stack, posted 1/24/2011
  12. I recently was looking on USPSA and found a member has shot 26 classifiers on the same day. I thought there was a limit.
