wanttolearn
Hi, I would like to upgrade the hammer/sear/disconnector/trigger etc. for a 2011 type frame build. I hope to do this myself and have done so on a few 1911's rather satisfactorily. I generally prefer a 2.5 lb, pull with just a slight amount of roll and a short reset. I would envision it mostly for range fun and the occasional competition. I was wondering if there were a preferred make or set that i might purchase. I've seen kits offered by EGW, C&S, Ed Brown, Nowlin, Extreme lite speed, Harrison and Apex Tactical carries a hammer sear. I would really appreciate your insight and experience so that i can make sound choices. thank you
spraynpray
EGW ultimate (koenig hammer) + 15-17lb mainspring (opinions here vary). The EGW is VERY good out of the box, but setting the surfaces using the Power Custom stoning fixtures will bring out that last 10%. Titanium strut, plunger, etc if you feel the need are also cool. 2MoreChains
You may also need to fit a new thumb safety if you replace the sear.
not4you2know
My brazos tuned trigger group was dropped in at 2.25lbs and I love it. I did have to fit the thumb safety. http://www.1911store.com/tunedtriggergroupbcg-proseries.aspx
Marv Z
Seconds on the Brazos kit. I've installed a number of them with excellent results. Top quality stuff.
Jakobi
I used a Cylinder and Slide kit on my 1911. I had to do some sear/hammer fitting but otherwise it was a great kit. The safety also required fitting to the new sear but I would expect that with any kit. Edited September 25, 2014 by Jakobi
Paul-the new guy
Extreme but again, the safety will probably require some work

trickpony
The Cylinder & Slide Ultra Light or Warp Speed kit has proven successful for me in several 2011's. Also like the Brazos kit. Minimal fitting of the safety required and typically always 2.25 - 2.5Lb trigger pull.
al503
Seconds on the Brazos kit. I've installed a number of them with excellent results. Top quality stuff. Thirds on the Brazos kit. I have several and my bud just put it in his new open pistol. Very crisp and probably right around 2.25-2.5 lbs.
stardust tommy
I like C&S ultra light hammer or an EGW lightened or a Koenig hammer STI sear with a true radius and cut the relief angle larger C&S reduced power mainspring STI titanium hammerstrut STI disco (polished etc.) this is a great combination and the STI parts make it a bit cheaper drop in parts mean: dropped in a bag and ready to sell... there is always something to adjust

He says they are close to drop in and for best results take it to a smith. Bod does work to the group which he states in the write up and Brazos doesn't just drop them in the bag, for sure. For me, the kit dropped in at 2.25lbs and I only had to fit the safety. Nothing in a 1911/2011 is 100% "drop in" but the Brazos kit was damn close. I've fit quit a few safeties, so that wasn't an issue for me. Edited September 26, 2014 by not4you2know
Flatland Shooter
You may also need to fit a new thumb safety if you replace the sear. Unless you pickup one of the new adjustable thumb safeties from Lone Star Innovations. It uses a set screw to set the proper clearance to the sear. Allows you to change out parts without fitting a new safety. +1 for the Koenig hammer + EGW hard competition sear. Flatland Shooter
I also cut the firing pin stop at an angle. Is this instead of a radius at the bottom of the stop? Purpose? Thanks. Bill
