ojs643
Could use a little help guys. Have decided to replace my barrel on my m&p vtac 2 (5.56). Looking at 18" wylde. My question is: should I go with Rainier Arms or AR Stoner? Both are in my price range. Or, is there something else out there I'm missing that's in the $300 price range? Thanks for your help. P.E. Kelley
I have had excellent results with Black Hole Barrels.
Dave Gundry
Rainier and White Oak Armament make great low cost Wylde barrels.

ojs643
WOA, BHB, and Nordic. All great tips! How could I forget to check Nordic! ? Gonna do a little research on these. Thanks!
blairmckenzie1
I have a black hole barrel that's turned down quite a bit. I'm super happy with how it swings and shoots 77's nice and tight.
NisilS14
Just my experience, but I couldn't get a Rainier 18" barrel to shoot well. It was a consistent 2moa barrel with every factory ammo brand I could find. 55fmj, 69smk, 77smk, Hornady 75gr, didn't shoot any of it very good. My 3gun upper currently has a BCM 18" barrel that's under consistently under 1MOA with most ammo brands, BCM 18" are ~ $300.
Steve RA
Carbon Arms sells Nordic and their gas block w/gas tube works very well with the barrel.
PrestonJMoore
I have an 18" Nordic barrel with a Wylde chamber and couldn't be happier with it. Great shooting barrel for a very reasonable price.
wgj3
Another vote for the Nordic barrel here.
caspian guy
Out of curiosity is there some issue with smith barrel? If not and you decided swap them out I'd probably be interested in taking the smith barrel off your hands.
MarkCO
I am not sure there is a barrel I have not tried at some point. The only AR-15 barrels I own are Nordic, Black Hole, or customs turned from blanks!
ojs643
Awesome ideas guys! I guess the next issue now is chrome lined? Or stainless steel?
Mbauer67
White oak barrels are very good at a fair price, the only brand I have had bad luck with accuracy was black hole weaponry

JimmyZip
Quench Polish Quench. Produces surface hardening with greater performance qualities than hardchrome.

ojs643
Criterion is where I'm leaning at the moment. Benny Hill at Triangle Sports has them. Good enough for him, good enough for me! E.R. Shaw is a close second though.

fishsticks
I have a 16" mid-gas Wilson combat. It is more accurate than I am.
ojs643
ANYTHING Wilson combat is sweet! My vtac 2 is nice the way it is also. I just wanted a little extra range with an 18" barrel. My main 3g rifle is a stag arms 3g and I love it. The vtac 2 will be a backup. A little much, I know, but God has blessed me with a good job and more importantly a supportive wife.
