BeerBaron
ok, disclaimer: these pics are not super artistic. these pics are not taken with a nice DSLR (taken with an iphone) the gun has been ridden hard and put away wet! my open tool. Tanfoglio Gold Custom Eric V12. I also tried out the quinn mount. Couldn't fit it permanently as for some reason the threads cut into that mount for the 2 cmore screws are different to the screws currently in use to fix my cmore to the upright mount... weird. it does get the dot very low to the slide. and the thumbest is not bad (bit far forward for my liking even with large hands) but my main grip is that it's too far foward. it could stand to be set back plenty. especially considering all the tanfog open guns have 8 ports in the barrel (regardless of V8 or V12 model they all have those initial 8 ports). Neomet
Nice thought with the 90 degree mount but the lens is going to get absolutely nailed with blast from the ports.
BeerBaron
yup. hence my WTB post in the classifieds for a cheely EAA setback 90 mount. the lens actually gets hammered already and that's with a mount slightly further back AND with a blast shield (which protects the bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of the lens just fine, top gets nailed). the quinn mount i had heard was set back a bit, but it's no where near enough. a mate shot one on his V8 and reckons it was ok as it's so low all the blast is going over the top. I'm not so sure..... the cheely mount puts the glass at just before the first (shorter) coffin cuts. so just between the end of the ejection port and the start of the first coffin cuts. this should be ideal I think. if the quinn mount was longer I could just re-drill and tap new holes in it and cut off part of the front and mount the cmore further back on it. unfortunately the rear mount hole is already right near the end of the mount surface. Kahai808
I gotta share. Got my barrel back from getting TiN coated. Let me know what u think!
BeerBaron
mate, the gold coating is not usually up my alley, but highlighting it with the gold grips does look very neat. are you allowed to do barrel coatings in production in USPSA? also, love your grip screws. Where are they from? Your guns always look super neat, and your photos are nicely arranged too. well done. btw, you've got the dirty checking curse like me! BeerBaron
just had a massive idea after looking at a previous post here showing a thumbrest. I can use the quinn mount, but just mount it to the rear 3 screws (so shift it backwards 1 screw width). that might move it back far enough. gennaro
BeerBaron , That's exactly how a work gun looks, I like it , great pics. I had to modify my double alpha c-more mount also, I prefer it to be set back further too. It did make the balance of the gun feel better. But whichever mount you end up using , unfortunately the lens will still pick-up a little bit of garbage from those barrel ports. I always carry a fiber lens cleaning cloth in my bag for when it gets bad enough. As for your Quinn mount , you said the screws did not work with the original holes that were drilled, are they to big or to small or just not lining up ? If you have to you can remove a little bit of material from the C-more itself to get it to line up with different screws or hole placement. If there is enough room on the mount definitely drill and tap maybe even using a slightly smaller screw from your local hardware store, and then you can open it up later if you accidently strip the threads. Great looking work gun, I should have gotten the grey c-more, it blends with the HC finish better. The best of luck. Jamiethesquid
Where would you acquire an aftermarket barrel for a Tanfo? I would like to rebarrel a Gold Custom without ports and experiment with different compensator designs.

The screws are from Henning. I kinda modified it and made it flat.
