Jaycwebb
Hey all!I'm currently shooting a Glock 34 in Limited and will also be moving into a 17 Open gun sometime by the end of the year. I'm looking for race holster reccomendations for both Limited and Open. Ideally I'd like to be able to use the same holster for both sets.
SilverBolt
DAA Race Master is tough to beat.
dskinsler83
Depends on which mount you are going to use. I like the Ghost or CR ghost is first choice but if you are using a Carver mount you will bout be limited to a CR
DreGarciaTAT2
Having the same holster for both could be tricky... My buddy runs a ghost the attaches only at the trigger guard area, that would probably work... I use a Model 014 from safari land for my limited 35, and it is everything I have ever dreamed of. I imagine that a 17 open may fit it, depending on the compensator used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Jaycwebb
I will be using an SJC mount.
dskinsler83
The SJC mount will work fine in a Super Ghost without the platform that way it's universal and no barrel restrictions. I use the super ghost for my G24 and G17 Open and have the thumb rest too
Jaycwebb
The Racemaster looks really solid! I'll do some reviews.
Sarge
Race Master all the way. Great retention, especially when locked. Very nice placement of the lock lever allows easy one hand operation to lock. When locked at the draw just let your finger hang a little low and it sweeps the lock off without affecting the draw.
LoganbillJ
I run a DAA Racer which is the cheaper version of the Racemaster. I love the holster and the retention.
toothandnail
Here's some pics(not the best, but you'll get the idea) when I was fitting mine with a fresh off the mill thumb rest. We made a longer drop rod to get the gun a little lower, for my extra long arms. Edited July 10, 2014 by toothandnail
Shotz
Why did you settle on the SJC mount over the Carver? I'm starting to build an Open 34 and I have debating on the mounts. Are you sending it in to get the ejection port lowered?
ajjacks916
CR Speed will work for both Open and Limited even after modification (Which is required for carver mount). You will move the muzzle mount for the length of your comp or barrel depending on the div you are shooting.
Jaycwebb
Why did you settle on the SJC mount over the Carver? I'm starting to build an Open 34 and I have debating on the mounts. Are you sending it in to get the ejection port lowered? I've held both mounts, and to me the Carver mount felt a little too "forward heavy." chalkdust21
I use a racemaster for limited now with a G35 and intend on moving to open with a G17 using a SJC mount. I like the cleaner look of the SJC mount. No complaints with the racemaster.

bigtimelarry
I run a DAA Racer which is the cheaper version of the Racemaster. I love the holster and the retention. Me too. I got the DAA Racer Glock Specific and it is Perfect.
Jaycwebb
Just ordered a DAA Racemaster today! Very excited to get it in the mail and try it out!
EkuJustice
Ran mine with an sjc mainly because it allows more holster options over the modified cr speed that's required for the carver. I am not a fan of the cr speed as the retention is an issue and not near as solid as the Racemaster. The ability to draw through the lock of a cr speed is what turned me off to them
3djedi
Has anybody tried the Manny Brag futuristic magnetic race holster?
Jaycwebb
I looked at that one and thought about it, but I really liked the ability to swap out the guts on the Racemaster to use with another gun.
3djedi
I just ordered a safariland 014 but it was for a tanfo. I had a 50% off coupon got it for $100.
Jaycwebb
Update: was having a little trouble with the retention not unlocking with the gun. 15 minutes of Youtube and Dremel work and it's perfect.
