Largest army in the world

The world's largest army? America's hunters!

The state of Wisconsin has over 600,000 hunters.

This would be the eighth largest army in the world - more men under arms than Iran; more than France and Germany combined - deployed to the woods and fields of a single American state.

Count the 750,000 who are in Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia, and it is literally the case that the hunters of those four states alone (2.25 million) would comprise the largest army in the world.

But that pales in comparison to Texas. Texas alone issued a record 3.2 million hunting licenses which would be larger than the 4 previous mentioned states making the hunters of Texas the largest army in the world.

The findings when considering national hunting license sales totals from all 50 states showed little change from 2005 through 2007. During that period, license sales have held at approximately 14.5 million annually, according to that U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

The number of actual hunters is even larger than that. That figure does not include lifetime license holders or permanent senior citizen license holders.

The total population of hunters in the United States is estimated to be around 20 million +.

For reference, China's army is thought to be about 4 million.

This is the same reason Switzerland has never been invaded.....The entire populace is in the Army or Reserve.

And they keep their weapon and a limited amount of ammo at the house so they are armed when enroute to base when told to report.

Even Hitler bypassed Switzerland during WWII.

I did not even like guns 2 years ago

I now have a

a Ruger 10-22 target rifle

a Savage 223 sniper rifle

2 Ruger target 22s

a S&W 12oz .357 snubnose with laser

a Taurus Judge 3" chamber

a 12 gauge shot gun

and a 9mm Tanfoglio Witness Match with laser

I don't have a hunting license so they would not even count me.

And every member of the above army, provided the state with name, address, and type of hunting/weapon they own,, makes it nice and handy for the state to go round em up individually before they can organize,

Name and address maybe, but in Florida, there is no requirement to list what weapons you will be using for hunting, other than a bow for bow season and muzzleloader for BP season.

not required in the Republic of Texas. And yes, our neighbors would pitch their lot in with us, namely the ones to the east. We tell 'em the enemy tastes like alligator.

And the last I knew, they are issued weapons that they keep at home. That only works with citizen soldiers by the way.

WOW!

Everyone isn't a shooter. But, if a person is a shooter. The good ol' U S of A is the most amazing place on earth.

Just think of the incredible number of human beings that have never even held a firearm. Or the number have lived in fear, because someone in power over them, held a firearm.

This is why many born in America would choose the risk of immediate death, over the slow and certain torture of disarmament.

The story goes that a foreign nobleman was visiting Wyoming in the last century. The nobleman's entourage came upon a cowboy fixing fence along the road. "Say there, can you take us to your Master", asked the nobleman? The cowboy replied, "that sum'bitch ain't been born yet".
