  1. My new 9mm Match with the new style mags almost never fail to fire for whatever reason. If I take a look at the feed ramp at the end of a session under a loop, I can see that the vast majority of the bullets contact the ramp near the center of the ramp or higher. I assume this is good. I always run FMJ ammo. If fail to fire ever becomes a pattern, should I take a high resolution pic exactly as the gun sits when I realize there is an issue? I assume the position of the bullet or casing is a huge clue what went wrong. Still trying to learn as quick as I can... AW
  2. If I have a 6" target at say 15 yards, about how fast can you guys put 10 shots in the 6" circle with a non ported gun? I am around 1 shot per second with my new site. I have no idea what is getting fairly fast. AW
  3. I have since gone to a Burris fastfire2 This mod transformed my shooting. I learned a simple lesson. You have to be able to see the target and sights to shoot well. This is 17 shots at 40 feet.
  4. I finally found a scope mount that will work with my new Witness Match 9mm. I found it at http://www.themakogroup.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=USM It is really tight but it did go on. The mount has to be removed to remove the slide if the stock rear sights are still on. In time I plan to get a quality reddot of some sort. I use this gun for target practice at the range. Here is how I was doing with the iron sights but my eyes simply can not focus on both the sights and the target with the same pair of glasses. This was freehand at 15 yards. AW
  5. I was trying to not drill holes in the gun. My easy choices were somewhat limited. I still may build something off the lower Weaver rail. At this point, I don't have a holster. The gun is only used for high speed plinking. It is not for organized competition. The interesting thing with the StrikeFire is the 2X option. I can also use it on my CX4 Beretta Storm. At one point in my life I was cross eyed so I really can't use both eyes to my advantage. My brain has been wired differently. Andy
  6. I located an out of production CZ75 grip/Weaver mount on ebay. I took a chance that I could make it work on my Witness Match. This is what I came up with. For now, I plan to test with a very bright green beam laser that I got off Ebay. The issue is that my eyes are not good for seeing the sites and the target with one set of glasses. Now I need to figure out what I want to mount on it. The leading choices are a C-More Railway or a StrikeFire Any opinions or suggestions... Andy
  7. For all Windows before vista and windows 7 get the free program screenprint32 from http://screenprint32.en.softonic.com/ For windows 7, search your c: for snip*.exe or see http://www.windows7home.net/use-snipping-tool-to-capture-screen-shots-in-windows-7/ This program is a bit of a pain as you have to save the snip and then reopen it in a different program to print the file.
  8. The gun is about 10 weeks old with a 2011 date code. About 300 rounds total. Andy
  9. I was at the range the other day with a long time shooter. He popped a loaded mag into my new EAA/Tanfoglio Witness Match and was shocked that the slide automatically released the lock and fed the first round. The gun was ready to rock and roll. He thought that there was something was wrong with my gun as he had never seen one do that. After he questioned it I did a little playing with my gun as it was totally unloaded and noticed that all it took was a solid thump on the butt of the gun to release the slide. Is this by design on the race guns or is this out of the ordinary? Here is a demo video Andy
  10. EAA claims they have the new style (just received last week) 9mm Mags. I purchased 4 based on this weeks national news. AW
  11. What is the weight of a typical race Tanfoglio race gun with say 10 rounds of ammo? Scope and all. My 9mm Witness Match with laser attached is coming up at 57.6 oz The laser weighs 7.4 oz so the gun with 10 rounds in the mag is 50.2 oz Just for fun... My S&W .357 AirLite PD with 5 rds. comes up at 14.8 oz Andy
  12. see http://www.ncs-stl.com/racecar/Pinewood.JPG The pickle fork car was done for the fathers class. They never even noticed the stack of rare earth magnets in the base of the groove that glued the car to the starting pin. AW
  13. You may run into warranty issues if you get one that never went thru EAA.
  14. The wife has a scandium J-frame 357. At just 12 oz, I put my money in it is better to have a 12 oz 38 with you than having a 24 oz gun on the counter as it was too heavy to have in the purse. Shooting 38s and staying away from the 357s keeps the intimidation factor down to something reasonable. We buy boxes of ammo for the 38 and cases for the Witness Match. AW
  15. I did not even like guns 2 years ago I now have a a Ruger 10-22 target rifle a Savage 223 sniper rifle 2 Ruger target 22s a S&W 12oz .357 snubnose with laser a Taurus Judge 3" chamber a 12 gauge shot gun and a 9mm Tanfoglio Witness Match with laser I don't have a hunting license so they would not even count me.
  16. We have a sign on the wall at work... "Do you have a weapon, get it out, we want to see it"
  17. I found this on ebay out of England. It is advertised to be for a tz75. I hope it is close enough that with a little creative work in the Bridgeport, I can get it to work on my Witness Match. I am thinking/hoping I will have to cut in a new dovetail location. It was advertised as being for Aimtech EA9 , TZ75 , TA90 Scope Mount System. Wish me luck
  18. I hope a EAA Match 9mm is OK for practicing at the farm. Is there any real technique differences between a 9 and a 40. I assume that this sport is like golf, the good guys will smoke you with anything in there hands but you are still better off starting with the fairly good stuff. If you really want to be competitive, they you have to buy equipment based on class structure. I have raced autocross cars for 30 years so I understand buying equipment for the class. Andy
  19. Here is how the nitesiters came out. Sorry about the cheesy pics.

  22. I have a laser that I use for practice but to get it to fit better one of the rail grooves needs to be made slightly wider. I happen to own a Bridgeport but I have no idea if this will cause a corrosion issue. The material is magnetic but many stainless steels are magnetic so... Andy
