benos
I'm in a totally quandry over my practice session yesterday. I'm trying to decide whether I should shoot my 9mm Single Stack or my 45 for Western States SS. I don't know SS rules. Do they score major/minor? t0066jh
I'm in a totally quandry over my practice session yesterday. I'm trying to decide whether I should shoot my 9mm Single Stack or my 45 for Western States SS. I don't know SS rules. Do they score major/minor? SS Major scores B and C hit=4 points, D= 2 points. 8 rounds in your mag, one in the tube Minor scores B and C hits =3 points D= 1. 10 rounds in the mag, one in the tube. Me, I'm faily accurate. 85% A hits shooting Minor, only 2 mikes for the Area II match... I'm just too slow. I did stick to my game plan to shoot as many A's as possible and let everybody else do what they can do. I'm looking forward to seeing how big a difference there is for me. I'm planing on shooting local matches SS major and then do a Re-entry L10 minor (using my SS minor gun) and see how big a difference there is in overall finish. Robbie just shot minor at Area 2 and still kicked butt by a wide margin. but that's Robbie, very accurate and fast. Maybe he was "toying" with the field. 38supPat
I've shot a bit of SS, from what I've been told any SS specific match it is usually best to shoot major as the CoF are based around an 8 round gun but at Area matches the minor gun gives an advantage in capacity on courses not designed around a 8 shot gun
t0066jh
I've shot a bit of SS, from what I've been told any SS specific match it is usually best to shoot major as the CoF are based around an 8 round gun but at Area matches the minor gun gives an advantage in capacity on courses not designed around a 8 shot gun Thanks Pat That was my reason for shooting minor at Area II. It's good to hear from a more experienced shooter confirming my decision. Now I need to re-read some of the posts on "shooting sooner" and movement over a course of fire. Try to pull the trigger faster doesn't seem to work for me.
38supPat
Trying to pull the trigger faster never works for anyone. When I get home I'll post something up on that in a new thread to keep this one on topic
BoyGlock
some time ago, my Part 1 ave. was 6.25sec w/ my Para .40 standard gun After having the Part 2 from BE, and after a lot of procrastinating, i finally shot it and had 5.22 ave w/ my Edge .40, same load/ammo as before. But what pleases me was, I felt if I could give it time and effort, I could improve more, because in some of my runs I was having low 4's w/ 1 or 2 C's and still seeing the A's (and C's)and my sights on it as I was triggering the shots. 38supPat
Ok, ran this for score today, first couple of runs were 3.08 down 4 and 3.05 down 5. My draws were slow as I didn't really warm up and these were cold runs. After a couple more runs I got down to a 2.76 down 5 and a 2.95 down 4 and then I finally pulled in a good run of 2.84 down 1. I have some on video and I'll post shortly.

DoubleL
Tried my homemade target stands for the first time on this drill. I really enjoyed it! It's the first time I've ever attempted a drill of any kind, I'm brand new to pistolcraft and love it so far. I managed a best of 8.97 with 2 bs so 9.97 Averaged about 10-11 with all a's, seems like adding only about a seconds worth of time total can get me all or nearly all a's fairly consistent. Worst of 14 with a miss(!) and only 3 a's. I tanked that one. Flubbed the grip and rushed the long transition. My brother and I ran this for quite awhile, seems like the harder you try to transition the worse and worse you get. Especially on the long one! PM'ing for part two... Hope it's a no reload second half as I still have no pouches!
