  1. Definitely no reshoot. Anyone can concort this excuse. The shooter is responsible for his gear, before, during and after a match.
  2. yup...I shoot a 40 caliber Glock 35 in competition and use a Glock 25 as my carry weapon.
  3. Unless its a fun shoot I will apply the fundamentals of shooting. As was previously said, getting your sights aligned and calling the shot is the surest way of ensuring your hits will score on the target.
  4. I have had my moments when this has actually happened. I really thought I was too slow and would have placed last in the competition. It actually took me by surprise that I was sighting and shooting so easily. Its just amazing that everything was so clear and so much could be done so quickly. I wanna shoot like this everyday.

    Thumbrest for my G35

I may have to use my own engineering skills and create my own thumbrest. I was trying to avoid the C-More sights and rails for the time being.

    Thumbrest for my G35

In our neck of the woods some of our shooters have thumbrests attached to their tanfoglios and Sigs. They use their firearms for both target shooting and IPSC matches. Since no fuss is being made about them using the thumbrest on their guns, why can't I spruce up my glock to get the benefit as well? Thats my rationale.

    Thumbrest for my G35

Now, that's what I am talking about. Is there a site I can get to purchase one of those?

    Thumbrest for my G35

Thanks for the link,Sbpt1911. Is there a rest for your weak hand as well? To me, only the strong hand thumb is getting organised.
  10. Hey guys and gals. I just came from the range practice where my good friend bought and put a thumbrest on his newly acquired tanfoglio competition pistol in 40 caliber. He came close to giving me a whooping but I was able to edge him out.I own and use the Glock 35 in 40 caliber. Is there any site known where I can get a thumbrest to put on my competition G35? Have you ever seen one for glock competition pistols? Thanks in advance for your responses.
  11. Thanks for your advice, Mike. I do not want to try something and it gets worse. With your advice i can take a try at something that will make it better off. On the magazine issue, one magazine seems to have a weak spring and is causing the rounds to sit in an incorrect position in the magazine. I think its time to get a fresh set and in the meantime, work on refurbishing the old one. A gunsmith actually modified a beretta magazine for this pistol.
  12. It looks like its the wonder finish. The chroming being done here is not to my liking so I am just wondering if steel wool can be used to regain the shine on the frame of the pistol.
  13. The frame is dull due to age. I just want to shine it up a bit and change the handgrips so it looks brand new again.
  14. Hey guys, Does anyone have any tips on restoring the frame and slide on a used tanfoglio pistol. I am getting a deal on one and need some homemade ideas to get the frame shining again.I intend changing the handgrips and magazines with new ones. Any recommendations short of sending the pistol back to the factory would be appreciated.
  15. This is the portion I wanted to quote, so my apologies. This method minimizes movement and so saves time. When speed affects everything else you have to be able to multifunction in the shortest possible time.
  16. This is what has worked well for me. Thanks to this forum I have seen the greats use this method, so I learn from the professionals.
  17. Thanks much, Bill. I will link him up in a bit.
  18. I got the deal from a friend and our conversation was mainly over the phone. I have physically handled but not fired the pistol as yet.I handled the pistol at night. The information I am giving is based on what the dealer who has the pistol told me over the phone.I will make enquiries as per the All Round status or the Competition model. I know he paid a hefty sum for it.
  19. Hey folks, I just got a deal on a Sig X5 Competition model in 40 caliber for IPSC shooting. If it is left stock, what division in IPSC would it be placed in? I use a G35 presently and was wondering what would the DA/SA effect have on me moving from the G35.Are there any other issues I should be concerned with? I await your answers.
  20. Seems you got the creepers there, buddy. I suspect this is something that we all have to experience at some point in our shooting career. I suspect you were not as relaxed and had the television and World Shoot in mind rather than the fun of the shooting experience you are accustomed to. All the best in your next shoot.
  21. Maybe there is a rush to get the fastest time and the fundamentals get thrown out of the window. What I try doing is cementing the fundamentals in my drills and work on increasing the speed over time. This has worked very well for me. I have improved from the accurate slow shooter to one of the faster shooters on my team.
  22. Seems this trigger kit will be next on my list of gun shopping items.
  23. While that statement is true for the RED and WHITE label boxed pistols ('civilian models'), it doesn't apply to many of the BLUE label G34/G35 pistols (those available through the LEO/GSSF program). I mention this only in case someone goes to buy one through the LEO/GSSF program; they should look at the label to ID what they are getting - if it says 4.5#, they are getting the 'competition' '-' connector; if it says 5.5#, they are getting the regular connector. I didn't even know they were sent in different boxes. All of our firearms come in the black box. I can say this because the shipment mine came in also had units for our LEO's, and they were all in identical boxes with the same specs. They are all in the BLACK box - it is the label placed on the handle that differentiates the contents inside. I would almost bet that all of the LEO guns had BLUE labels on them. Now I am understanding what was said. Its the 'label'on the boxes that differentiate them.......lol. Multitasking can be a bitch when you are managing and sharing ideas at work and enjoying the forum posts.
  24. For me, I have to use the 60/40 grip most times with my G35. This gun has a 'kick' when shooting major. Its not a gun to be messed with. However, I guess to each his/her own depending on the weapon used.
