  2. Hey there................... S-G. I hope your Birthday gets better, and I hope each of your birthdays are better than the preceeding one. May you only know happiness and good health. You are a real gem Be grateful for all that you are.......... I KNOW that I am grateful for all that you are. Best as always, Jeffro (Jeff)
  3. Shooter Grrl, Not that you OWE it to anyone to do it, but I would expect nothing less from you. You are really "top drawer". I truly respect anyone who "puts their money where their mouth is". You are one of those individuals who is willing to put as much back into the "pot" as you can. A "tip o' the derby" to you! Hope all is going well for you. Best as always, Jeffro (Jeff)
  4. May I make a suggestion that might seem a tad "off topic", but I feel it is relevant? Leave your mainspring weight as-is, but liberally apply some "Slideglide" to the mainspring and the interior of the mainspring housing. Reassemble and try it............. it is like MAGIC!!!!!! It will feel like you have a lighter spring and Smoooother. Really. Best to all, Jeffro
  5. Eric, Thanks for the tip. I will do that now. I do appreciate the costructive input, as I said, I am a computer ninny and know way too little about them. Best regards, Jeffro (Jeff)
  6. AH61P, I am not familiar with that plug, but be sure that it is lightweight and not a solid plug. I have a "knock-around" old AMT Longslide (7-inch barrel) that a friend/'smith performed a lot of lightening on the slide. It is not what I consider a quality piece, just a piece to go play with. But it seemed the cycling was soooooooooo slow, that I took it to him and asked if there was anything he could do to "quicken the pace" a bit. He told me to throw the gun away and use one of my good guns!!! But I left it with him and he lightened the hell out of the slide, and told me that he took as much weight off of the recoil spring plug as he took off of the enitre slide!! The recoil spring plug was a little over 2-inches long so the gun used standard 5-inch springs. HOWEVER, the plug was SOLID stainless steel, with just a hollow "lip" for the recoil spring to seat into. Well, he did a super lightening job on the plug. He warned me that some plugs for extended slide guns are solid, so they account for a lot of reciprocating mass. He said to always be sure in a long slide, that the recoil spring plug is hollow and light, NOT one of the "stupid" solid units. He said if it is solid, lighten it up to the maximum. Just passing it on. Hope it helps. Best to all, Jeffro (Jeff)
  7. I am a computer ninny, and I find Windows XP totally unstable, and a giant step backwards from Windows 98.................... Jeffro (Jeff)
  8. GM Iprod, Hey there, buddy, have a great birthday. I hope you get everything you want!!!! Many more healthy, happy birthdays to you. As always, Jeffro (Jeff)
  9. Several months ago I ordered two Swenson safty units. I took them (along with the two 1911s) to my gunsmith to install, and he looked at them and said to send them back.......... that they just aren't worth the hastle because of all the time that would be required to "get them right". I did what he told me and never looked back. Did I have a bad experience with them? NO. Do I trust my gunsmith's judgement? YES. He also gave me a "mini-lecture" about talking to him BEFORE ordering parts with which I am not well versed!! He is a good friend, and I listened to that advice also!! My Papa used to have a saying, "As we go.... we learn." Best of luck, Jeffro (Jeff)
  10. I KNOW it is not the midwest right now................. I don't see any hail or any tornado funnels............... Jeffro
  11. SiG Lady, That wouldn't be fair. We HAVE to look at them and sometimes touch them to ascertain if they are God-given or otherwise!!! Sometimes (strictly for the sake of determining for sure), we have to put our mouths to them............ we surely don't want anyone judged unfairly!!! Best to all, Jeffro (Jeff)
  12. If one is a Mark Twain fan, then Hannibal is a kind of neat place to visit........... Not exactly New York City, but then I don't like New York City!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  13. A word of advice........... whomever you choose, BEFORE you sign on, demand that they give you a key to the system box that contains the battery. One of their biggest rackets is when the battery goes bad, they have to send a "technician" to replace it............. They will give you a bunch of crap about it being a "special" battery needed, etc........ that is B.S. They will then charge you an outrageous sum for the battery (usually $40 or $50) PLUS the service call. If you don't have a key to the box, you are trapped by them for eternity. I have a key to the box in my home and office, and the battery costs $7.00 at Radio Shack. Takes about 2 minutes to change, but you MUST have the key to the box!! Don't forget to call the monitoring station BEFORE you open the box and change the battery to tell them to put you on "test mode". As far as which company you choose, it really matters little. the big security companies just go around the country buying out the little ones and keep the employees that are there. they pay a minimum, and only sometimes get what they pay for. It really is luck of the draw as to what kind of service you get after the sale, but don't expect anything great from any of them. Good luck, Jeffro (Jeff)
  14. Stinger, Congratulations................ one of the best bargains I have seen in a long time!!!!!!! Enjoy it. Best, Jeffro (Jeff)

  16. My personal choice is Mahovsky's........... I feel that they are the VERY BEST. They are reasonably priced, but they are the BEST for any money (in my opinion). Their web address is as follows: Mahovsky's Plating Good luck, Jeffro

  18. HighTech, sounds like you tagged all the bases. Will appreciate hearing any additional feedback from Marc. Thanks and safe shootin', Jeffro (Jeff)
  19. HighTech, I would suggest you call Marc Cosat at I.S.M.I. about that. He is a super guy, and quite knowledgeable. I am sure he would have some useful input for you about the situation. He really leaves nothing to chance, and is a great "problem solver" when it comes to springs. His toll free number is listed on his website, and I am sure it would be well worth your time. Good luck and keep us posted, Jeffro
  20. Ain't that purrrrrty!!!!!!! Real nice......... sounds like a real shooter too! Use it in good health, Jeffro (Jeff)

300 poundGrorilla, You know, 300 pound (if I may call you by your first name ), you might just have something there............. maybe I should send it to them............. Best as always to all, Jeffro (Jeff)
  22. CZ Shooter, I sent you an email with the response of one of the pistolsmiths. It might give you some direction. Good luck, Jeffro (Jeff)
  23. CZ Shooter, I am not sure, but I believe that the ramp area in a 9mm 1911 is different from that on the .45 I am not sure, but I would check it out. Not that it would make the project unworkable, but then you are looking at additional expense. Check with someone who knows for sure, or maybe I can find out easily. Just something to consider. Best, Jeffro (Jeff)
