  1. NIK, NOPE. I reread it on a number of sites, and THAT is the word. When I went to the copy of the bill that was released to the public, it said 15 of 20 rounds in "a reasonable timespan", but was told that the copy released was NOT the final form and that they thought "reasonable" was ambiguous (as well it is), so I was told that they made it 20 rounds in 90 seconds with the requirement being that "despite" the speed factor adding pressure to the applicant, he/she ALSO needed to be (not only FAST, but) ACCURATE in his/her shooting abilities, thus the "hardline" stance on accuracy (having to hit the full-size silhoutte ANYWHERE, 15 out of 20 shots at 7 yards)!!!!!! WARNING TO B.E. IF YOU PLAN TO MOVE HERE TO MISSOURI, YOU BETTER GET PLENTY OF PRACTICE IN SO YOU WON'T BE EMBARRASED IF/WHEN YOU TEST FOR YOUR CCW PERMIT HERE!!!!!! Best to all, Jeffro (Jeff)
  2. RHINO, It appears that is an "urban legend" and unfounded. I have scoured the various news reports of his trip home from all available sources (including the most vocal and adamently ANTI-GUN sources), and there is no mention of Anheuser-Busch whatsoever. If they aided him in ANY WAY, I am quite sure that the anti-gun sources would have brought that up. The "antis" are screaming bloody-murder in Missouri, so if they had ANY DIRT at all on him or the process, I am sure they would have shouted it from the rooftops. The local talkshows were flooded today with callers from both sides of the issue, and the antis brought up time and again how he shirked his responsibility as an Army Reservist to fly home for the vote, and demanded to know if he got paid by the U.S. Army for the day he was back for the vote, so I am quite certain they would have researched that issue. If I find anything to the contrary, I will post it. In the interim, I better get out and PRACTICE!!!! The new concealed carry bill says that the applicant must pass a stringent proficiency test besides the 8 hours of instruction. The test? Must hit a full-sized sillouette of a man (ANYWHERE on the target) from SEVEN YARDS, 15 out of 20 shots, and ONLY have 90 SECONDS TO ACCOMPLISH IT!!!!!! TRUE, however I could not confirm the 90 second rule!!!! Damn good thing B.E. and TGO don't live here in Missouri......... HOW would they EVER pass it???? Best regards, Jeffro
  3. FLEXMONEY, I sure hope Ohio gets in line sometime soon. However, it is anybody's guess as to when. Here in Missouri we have been fighting this battle for years and years. And the funny part of it........... the final decision as to weather Missouri did or didn't get the concealed carry law was a commanding officer in...........................Guantanamo Bay, CUBA for Chrissake!!! It was HIS decision weather to let the one Missouri Senator have the leave to come vote or not, so the ultimate decision for Missouri was really made in, of all places, Guantanamo Bay!!!!!!!! There HAS to be a joke imbedded in here somewhere!!!!! It could just make one PUKE when you seriously consider who controls US!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  4. Rhino, I did NOT HEAR that about Anheuser Busch, and if it were true, I am sure I would have heard it by now. I WILL FIND OUT AND REPORT. WHOOOOPPPPPEEEEE!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  5. YIPPY-CAYAAA!!!!!!!!! WHOOPPPEE!!!!!!!! HORRRRRAAAYYYYY!!!!!!! MISSOURI NOW HAS A (SHALL ISSUE) CONCEALED CARRY LAW. THEY JUST SUCCESSFULLY OVERRODE THE GOVERNOR'S VETO. It needed 2/3 of the state representatives and 2/3 of the Missouri SENATE. We were ONE VOTE SHORT IN THE MISSOURI SENATE, but the one STATE SENATOR WHO'S RESERVE UNIT WAS ACTIVATED TO GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA ARRANGED A LEAVE AND FLEW IN FOR THE VOTE!!!!!!!! WE FINALLY BEAT THEM!!! WE HAVE GOTTEN SO CLOSE SO MANY TIMES BUT IT GOT VETOED BY "DEAD" MEL CARNAHAN BEFORE, BUT THIS TIME WE GOT 'EM!!!! Bob Holden, his successor tried to veto it, but WE GOT THE OVERRIDE!!! WHOOOOPPPPPEEEEEE!!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  6. Julien, Hope this is the best birthday so far, and that each succeeding birthday is better. Live a long, healthy, happy life. Proud to associate with you here on the site. Have a GREAT BIRTHDAY, but STAY SAFE!!!!! Best, Jeffro (Jeff)
  7. TDean, If you read my post from last evening, I mentioned the "King's Gunworks" version with the slot. I have found it to be the best yet (however, NOT PERFECT) Jeffro (Jeff)
  8. TDean, I do not experience the frequency of problems that you speak of with the ambi-safties, but being a left-handed shooter, I have complained for years that the ambi-safety, while being a real breakthrough years ago for left-handed users of the 1911 format, are not really strong and durable enough. I have replaced several of them out of necessity over the years. I have determined that (for ME) while not perfect, the "King Gunworks" design without the "tang that fits under the right grip is the best that I have found. It seems to stay put much more reliably than the ones with the tang under the grip panel. Hope this helps, and keep us posted, as I am TRULY interested in finding a more permanent fix to this enigma. Best to ya', Jeffro (Jeff)
  9. So SiG Lady, Does that mean that now you wear only DIRTY CLOTHES all the time without a washer and dryer in the appropriate area??????? Jeff
  10. Voice mail at the police departments is an absurd reality. They should take further advantage of the technology and just put the department phones on call FORWARDING DIRECTLY to the local DONUT SHOPS!!!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  11. Jeffro

    Guns/doctors...

What EXACTLY do you perceive he is thinking when he is looking down the bore????????? Jeffro (Jeff)
  12. I am NOT SURE of this, but just as an aside: I am PRETTY sure that 4340 nickel chrome moly steel (of which the Valtro is constructed) is a bit more dense than the steels used in most all other (steel) 1911s, and therefore the Valtro 1911 is a tad heavier than the usual "government model" of most other manufacturers. It is not a great weight difference, but it seems like it is 1.5 to 2.0 ounces heavier than other "Government model" 1911s. I AM sure that there is someone (if not EVERYONE out there) in "Enos-land" that is much more astute than I who can tell us for sure. That is however, my perception. Best, Jeffro (Jeff)

  14. Jim, I ordered mine about 10 months ago (I believe), and it was $1,340. I don't want to start a "war" here, but they come standard with a full-length recoil spring guide, and I ordered mine with the short (standard) recoil spring guide and standard plug. I kept getting the run-around from the "Valtro Dealers", and called John Jardine directly. He is a SUPER GENTLEMAN and a man of his word. He is GREAT to deal with. He will talk to you 'till all your questions are answered. NO BUM'S RUSH with him. BUT PLEASE, NO-ONE feel the need to "defend" the full-length recoil spring guides............ whatever makes each one of us happy!!!!!! (I sure don't want to get this full-length vs. standard guide rod thing going again!!!) I just ADORE my VALTRO HOWEVER...... NO ONE IS ALLOWED TO ORDER ONE UNTIL SiG LADY GETS HER ORDER IN!!!!!!!! Best, Jeffro (Jeff)
  15. Tightloop, I am STILL LOOKING for a set of the "Mexicali Specials"......... so keep your eyes pealed. HOWEVER....... they are NOT for the Valtro(s). Even I have some sense of propriety!!!!!!!! You will absolutely FREAK OUT over the Valtro........ they are the absolute best buy on the 1911 scene (in MY opinion). Jeff
  16. WAY TO GO SiG Lady!!!!!!!! God, I just LOVE a woman with the "CAHONES" (???!!) to make a decision!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doggone Sig, you are MY KIND of LADY!!!!!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  17. Hey FLEX, HAVE A GREAT BIRTHDAY, AND ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF IT! Best to ya', Buddy, Jeffro (Jeff)
  18. STEVE, That is INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH SLICK! Really neat. Use it in good health!!!!!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  19. SiG, YOUR HEAD IS JUST PERFECT!!!!!!!! Jeff
  20. Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately (or fortunately if you had ever seen any of my 3 knives that I forged!!) I do NOT make knives. I am on the Board of Directors of the American Bladesmith Society (for 20 years), have been collecting handmade knives for 40 years, and helped initiate the first bladesmithing school in the country (in Old Washington, Arkansas). The Cutlery Hall of Fame chose to recognize me, although I feel there are so many more who are more deserving........... but it is TOO LATE NOW........ they are NOT getting the honor back!!!!!!!! Thank you again for the kind words. And a very special "Thank You" to SiG Lady, who always seems to know when to give me a "push" when I am feeling down or things are not going well. She is a great friend (but WHATEVER you do, DO NOT tell HER that I said that. She'll get a fat head!!!!) Best, Jeffro (Jeff)
  21. WOW!!!!!!!!! THAT SiGLADY LOOKS HOT in LEATHER!!!!!!!!!!! Jeffro
  22. Hey SiG, that "Blasters between the sheets" sounds like either a title to a XXXX rated movie OR the title of a post by the "Taster #3" in the chili cookoff!!!! Jeff
  23. Erik, I agree with the previous posts that indicate that there MUST be a snafu in your setup to be causing this. HOWEVER, absent an obvious solution, may I make a suggestion? Before installing another sight, take it or send it to a good blacksmith. Ask him to anneal it, reharden it, and then draw out the temper so it is similar to spring steel. This will make it "tougher", and better able to absorb the shock. If you don't have or know a good blacksmith, I know several hundred men who FORGE knives for a living, and really know practical metalurgy. They regularly selectively harden blades to have a hard edge, springy spine, and flexible tang. They put all these qualities in a SINGLE PIECE OF STEEL, but in different areas. They really are an amazing bunch! Any of the good bladesmiths could probably help you out. If you need some names, let me know. I know this sounds like a roundabout way, but it sounds like it might be worth a try for you. You might also post the problem on Pistolsmith.com as there are a lot of very knowing pistolsmiths who frequent that site regularly and are quite willing to share their collective and individual knowledge, which is considerable. Some of the finest living pistolsmiths are there to share knowledge for the asking. Give them a try. Good luck, and let me know if I can help. Best, Jeffro

    Shred 3

SHRED, I really like that! Cool stuff.............. Use it in good health............ Jeffro (Jeff)
  25. Just to clarify, where I give the web address for the two services, where it says in my post, "my webpage", it is NOT in fact my webpage. I am just a computer retard and got it screwed up, but if you click onto them, it will take you to the specified webpages. I obviously have no ties to either one of the companies whatsoever, but am just passing on information from a REALLY good source. Best, Jeffro (Jeff)
