    TRUE STORY

I have to relay a cute TRUE story from when my son was in first grade (He is now 22). I don't know why this story came to mind today, but thought it was worthy of repeating. I used to sometimes leave work early and pick him up from school and take him to the range to shoot. He would light up when he saw my truck waiting for him after school.......... that meant we were going shooting! Well, at that time, there was a fad started by some heavy-metal rock group of wearing denim jackets that were shot full of bullet holes. My son thought that was really cool, and mentioned it a number of times. Soooooooooo when we got to the range that day, I told him to wait at the shooting table while I stapled up a few targets. He didn't know it, but I hid his little denim jacket under my jacket, and took it up to the target rack, and stapled it up there for him to shoot full of holes. He went nuts with his little "Chipmunk" 22 rifle, then for good measure, I hit it a few times with the 16 gauge. He SLEPT in the jacket that night. Next day he wears it to school. The teacher asked him what happened to his jacket. Now keep in mind that my son had a really cute and creative sense of humor even as a little kid. He responds to her, "My dad and his friend took me to the shooting range yesterday, and they both were drinking beer and told me to go run around where the targets were, and then they started shooting me with their guns." He thought that was really cute (I did too). HOWEVER, the teacher tells the principal, who calls my wife, and says that something HAS TO BE DONE........... that our son could have been KILLED!! She was SERIOUS. I went in the next morning and explained that my son was just teasing them, and that if in fact that happened, the bullets would have actually gone THROUGH the denim and done HIM. They were skeptical, but they let it slide. The principal did tell me though, that she did NOT APPROVE of a child being exposed to firearms........ever. I told her that I respect her opinion............ as HER OPINION. Jeffro (Jeff)

  3. THANKS A MILLION to all of you. I am humbled...... Jeff
  4. ........and a SUPER THANK YOU, Brian. Without your efforts we would have never gotten it "all together" into the neat group we have. You were and are the nucleus. We are all indebted to you............. Best as always, Jeffro (Jeff)
  5. Just for your (collective) information, the only reason that they didn't put the candles on my cake is that the E.P.A. got a restraining order against it.......... said with THAT MANY candles, it would contribute too much to global warming and destruction of the ozone layer......... Thank you all for the good wishes. I really do appreciate it. Best to all, Jeffro a/k/a The Old Fart
  6. THANK YOU for the kind greetings and wishes. I do appreciate it! Makes for a nice day when it starts with greetings from good friends, especially for us old farts!! Best to all, Jeffro
  7. Doggone it......... it is SOOOOOOOO intimidating when women say things like that!!! So size really DOES matter???????? Damn..... Best, Jeffro
  8. Mcoliver, You said what I intended to say. I stand corrected. Thank you for the clarification. Best to all, Jeffro (Jeff)
  9. I am not a gunsmith, and I am definitely NOT an expert. HOWEVER, I do want to give you a warning. When replacing your shok-buff (or newly adding one), be SURE to check that the slide goes ALL THE WAY BACK on recoil. This is easily checked by leaving your recoil spring out, pulling your slide all the way back, and marking an "index mark" with a pencil on the slide and the frame. Replace your spring and the shok-buff, and make sure that the slide will go as far back as it did without the shok-buff. I don't want to represent mysel as being any kind of an expert or super technician, but do follow this proceedure, or serious damage can befall your blaster. Best of luck, Jeffro (Jeff)
  10. Mr. Thomas, I like your review. Thank you for sharing it with us. Interesting slant on the original ending which I did not know and wouldn't have considered. That would have truly been an interesting twist. Thank you for giving another perspective to an excellent film. Best as always, Jeffro (Jeff)
  11. D.J., Give Marc Cosat a call (it is toll free) at ISMI springs. They are on the internet also at I.M.S.I. Springs His phone number is 800-773-1940 Tell him what you have, what loads you are shooting, and he will do his magic and tell you what you need. He is an extremely nice guy, quite knowledgeable, and treats folks very well. If you call him with questions about springs and order one spring, 100 springs, or don't order anything at all, he treats people the "old school" way........ friendly and respectfully. And by the way, his springs are the very best I have ever used. I am a huge fan of Marc and his products. Good luck, Jeffro (Jeff)
  12. Doggone SigLady, Too bad you didn't get any response to your initial posting here!!! Best as always, Jeffro

We just wait for your birthday to tell you!!!!!!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)

I have nothing to say.......... I can ONLY get into trouble playing here on this thread!!!!!!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  15. Travis, Yes, ISMI does manufacture and stock the chrome silicone springs as one of their lines. They are the best there ever were, in my opinion. Jeffro (Jeff)
  16. IPSCDRL and OLD SHOOTER, HAPPY BIRTHDAY(S)!!!!!!! You are getting CLOSER to being as old as I AM!!!! Have a great day and do something fun!!!!! Jeffro (Jeff)
  17. Shooter Girl, I did not disappear. I come here just about every day. I unfortunately am not nearly as knowledgeable as most here, so I find that most of the times those responding have a much better working base of info and experience than I, and are therefore better able to give good information than I. I do hope all is going well for you. Feel free to email or PM if you ever need a "Jeffro-Fix"!!!!! Besides............. What better to pop up for than B.E.'s BIRTHDAY??? Best as always, Jeffro (Jeff)
  18. I am not a gunsmith, and I am definitely NOT a sponsored shooter!! I am however, probably the greatest fan of ISMI springs on the planet. MY OPINION only is that they are the very best springs out there........period. The ower of ISMI, Marc Cosat is a swell guy too. He is quite knowledgeable and quite willing to share that knowledge. If you need any guidance regarding springs, he is happy to help.........Just give him a call. Good luck, Jeffro (Jeff)
  19. I WILL be the first on the forum this year to wish Brian a super-happy BIRTHDAY (it is Friday). No second place for me THIS YEAR!!! Brian, thank you again (and STILL) for providing such a great forum. Have a wonderful birthday and many happy, healthy more. We all owe you. Jeffro (Jeff)
  20. Erik, GREAT STUFF!!! Congratulations. Like a "good ole' boy" friend of mine always says, "Don't it feel good when you have to work hard for it and it happens??". Good going, Jeffro (Jeff)
  21. I hope your birthday was the best ever, and every one after this is better than the last. Be healthy........ strive to be happy....... Jeffro (Jeff)
  22. HighTechRedneck, I can only speak from my personal experience on this. I have found that the ISMI springs keep their "static length" and strength much longer than the Wolff or ANY OTHER springs I have ever used.............. and I have used just about everything on the market, at one time or another. Because of the ability of the ISMI to maintain it's original strength for such greater number of cycles, a lower strength rating works for me better than the similar ratings from other brands, because the other brands loose strength so much sooner than the ISMI. In other words, an ISMI 15 pound recoil spring STAYS 15 pound (or darn close to it), while a 15 pound Wolff (or anything else I have used) starts out at 15 pounds, but very shortly "settles in" at 13 or 14 pounds after being compressed for a while in the firearm, or from being used for a short while. As I said, I can only speak of MY EXPERIENCE, and I am NOT a gunsmith. I have run EXCLUSIVELY ISMI springs in all my 1911s for quite some time, and think they are the best. Marc Cosat (owner of ISMI) is a great guy, quite knowledgeable, and quite willing to share that knowledge. Give him a call and discuss your question(s) with him. I guarantee you that no matter how much you might know, you will learn SOMETHING from your conversation with Marc. Best of luck, Jeffro (Jeff)

"To shoot quickly you need to be able to see quickly-you need to heighten your visual awareness." Brian Enos I believe the same advice B.E. gives for quick shooting also applies to dealing with a potential wife................. but NOT ONLY visual awareness........... CONGRATULATIONS and best of luck to the two of you. Jeffro (Jeff)
