ed did self starting, left hand on the timer switch. some have said he started to pull the trigger before he activated the timer. and he NEVER had to put it to the test of an electronic timer, something Jerry does all the time. the shot into the table WAS an AD. the fact that a target was accidentally hit is irrelevant. the shooter should have been an adult, accepted the DQ, packed up and left the range. SharonAnne L2387

IF you are TRULY shooting groups and not "patterns" then adjust the stinking sights. that is what they are for. don't sweat "why" the group is where it is. when you are shooting "groups" you are doing things correctly, sight picture, trigger squeeze, etc. adjust the sights and be happy with your centered shots. my $0.02 worth on double stack vs single stack. i shoot double stack Paras in each of Open and Ltd. i wear a womens large glove which is a bit smaller than a mens small glove. i find i truly like the double stack fit in my hand. before getting the Open Para i shot a single stack Open class 45 (gee is my age showing?). the best fitting double stack IMHO is the Caspian. but i had already had the Para open gun built and i chose not to start over. back in the mists of time, before the earth cooled, using my iron sighted 45acp comp gun, i did an exercise of draw, shoot 2, reload, shoot 2 on two targets at 5 yards. i used 2 targets so that i could tell where i was messing up IF i was messing up. did i pull shots on the draw or after the reload. also, using 2 shots per target you had to have a proper grip to get 2 good hits. my best was 2.5 seconds down 0 points. with the speed of todays top shooters i am sure that sub 2 second runs are routine. i went to a weekly night shoot at a local club. (NOT Rio Salado). after paying my match fee and gearing up i read a stage description. start in box A, stand in place and turn in circles. at between 4 and 7 spins the start signal will be given. i immediately protested this as unsafe. when told "it is the same for everyone" i got a bit miffed. i put my gear away, demanded and received a refund, and asked the match director if he stayed up late thinking of stupid unsafe ways to start stages. as one of the top 5 shooters at this club my protests were noted by many and this unsafe procedure has never been reused. 2000 USPSA race gun nationals. my first. i find myself in the super squad. surrounded by all the women i have read about and who are my heroes. big stage with movers, droppers, turners. i draw, blast down an activator popper, turn left to shoot a paper target throught a window, return to the doorway the popper was in, hit the lateral mover once and have my hi-cap mag drop out on the ground. the stage went SERIOUSLY downhill from there.
