  1. will try the suggestions but looking at the disconnector in the gun again today, it is not the corners that are in the way but rather the flat spot on the disconnector. thanks
  2. I think adding or cutting a tab to move the trigger rearward would be helpful, too. thanks
  3. thank you, I understand and will do that. but just to mention the brass markings were right above that area your mentioning in figure 1. The flat area, I will look at it again and remove from the curved area. thanks
  4. the disconnector facing the trigger bow is somewhat above the surface of the frame where the magazine seats. when reloading a magazine with a case and with the hammer back, sometimes the rim of the case in the magazine will hit the exposed edge of the disconnector, releasing the hammer. I can see the edge with the slide off and see the brass marks on the disconnector, when it is removed. I did sand it down a bit but still have the edge hit the case. Is it because the trigger needs to move rearward a bit? my trigger has no tabs to bend for adjustment. what would help???? thanks
  5. what I have seen in the past, some will weld and recut the slot in the frame so that the spring will sit higher. along with that, peen out, the left side of the left leg, so that the sear spring will not move left to right, if there is too much space between the channel or opening in the pistol frame. or place a spot weld on the left side and file it down, so the spring does not move left or right in the channel. I myself would file the slot higher install the spring and stick a piece of feeler gauge to fill in the bottom. after the mainspring housing is on, the spring should not move, if it is a tight fit. sometimes, you just have to mickey mouse it. WTF... it works!!
  6. this is what I use Works flawless! I use extreme 180gr bullets, loaded to 1.180/.421 crimp, with 5.0 WST or 4.6 TG, either powder makes major. For magazines I welded the magazine catch lip, filed it flat. And I use STI magazines from an STI pistol, not the ones made for a Para gun! I can use them is this Para or any STI gun. Makes no sense using Para mags, if your having problems. I do have one Para magazine that I filed the magazine notch higher to fit this weld magazine catch, using a 10 coil spring with a Dawson base pad, I can load 21 rds, plus one. Hope this helps! BTW, this gun was built from Rich of Canyon CreeK Custom.
  7. a friend here in S. California, has a STI Edge, brand new. shot it a few times, barrel link broke! frame was not cut correctly. its been fixed by a very good local smith in Norco. But a 1800 dollar plus gun with a barrel not fitted correctly? I dont care what the video shows but damn!
  8. pretty good! I agree on the above posts. some good ideas above. sometimes knowing what is lacking, you develop an idea on how or what to work on at practice. reloads can be done at home, the transitions...seting up two or three targets at the range. keep in mind that the gun follows what your eyes are looking at, as you shoot from target to target. your off to a good start! good luck
  9. this what Sig should have done, was to introduce a Max Michel edition 40! my only concern would be with the extraction of 40 brass. 45acp I can see working well, with the larger rim dia. but with the 40 and the external extractor, am not sure. but other than that I would get one over the Para Pro comp. 40... IMO EGW sells a tool steel extractor for the Sig 1911 with the pin.
  10. exactly what posts #11 and 12 wrote. there MAY be a difference with dot movement between SC and 9mm (and so what if there is), thats not whats going to hold you back from becoming a better shooter! What will hold you back is a lack of enough shooting supplies, (that you can afford) for you to utilize to get you to be a better shooter! look for SC brass? out of stock! check the price? close to 200.00 per 1000! 9mm, you can reload it a few times, then toss it. no big deal. big matches, local matches...leave it on the ground! to me...its a no-brainer!
  11. what he said...what you dont want is your thought process guessing... "is this what I need to see", as opposed to "knowing what I need to see". I file enough of the rear notch, so that the feedback I get from the gap between the front blade and the insidie of the rear notch blade is not blurry.
  12. how are the Sig 40s performing? There are several for sale on GBroker. I dont see them selling or anyone biding on them. The Para Pro Comp 40 SS gun is sold all the time on GBroker. And there is only one or two for sale at a time. I have seen a few used ParaPComp guns on GBroker.
  13. Sarge, what caliber is your gun?
  14. how does the cheely comp hold up? It is made of Ti. Does it crack? thanks
  15. am convert a SC gun to 9mm major and want to get an idea of what would be the best comp to use??? I ve looked at the STI trubor, Cheely ti comp and was thinking of Brazos comp? am new to this Open gun and was looking for opinions or ideas? thanks
  16. Straightup what other choice you would do?? STI trojan?
  17. tough choice! which way would most of you go? Para does have more ot the desireable features, including the mail in rebate. Sig 1911 40 does have the extrenal exttractor and no guide rod. Its listed on GB now. thanks
  18. OIPENB are you loading long on the 40 for the magazines you are using? Or are you using 10mm magazines??
  19. I wonder why would Para has a vendor, such as EGW make the extractor? Could not Para make their own over size extractor? Or better yet, change all the Para's to the over sized extractor? I guess it doesnt really matter. At least their is a solution to a problem that didn't exist in the first place!
  20. thanks for the reviews on the PPComp. My friend and I are considering getting one. Am still looking around for something else, though. I think it is still a Para no matter how much lipstick you put on the pig! Your really just buying a frame and slide. Still the same Para barrel/bushing/MIM slide stop/safety and rear sight as all the other Paras. So what that it comes with Koening hammer. Any 1911 you get whether a STI Trojan or something else, most likely your going to replace all the trigger parts, if you really want a slick, 2lb trigger. Para barrel...no comparsion to a oversize match barrel/bushing. It can be a great gun as I own and shoot a P16 in Limited! But by all means it is not in stock form! Forget about the resale value... And since I live in Calif. cost of gun+taxes coming into Calif.+SSExcemption+DROS...well you get the idea. The only plus is the mail in rebate for 100.00 dollars.
  21. A blurry A zone (or target) is ok if you know where the A zone (or center) is. If you can't see the target well enough to find the center it's not a blurry A zone it's a ghost A zone. Just for reference, I've been shooting USPSA for almost twenty years. Thanks for the input! I wear glasses and I can not see the holes on the target at 25 yrds. What matters when am breaking the shot is that I focus on the FS. But the target is not that blurry where I can not make it out. BUT (this is just IMO), I would prefer...if I had your dilemma, a clear vision at distance and contend with a blurry FS! Reason, is that you really do not need a clear FS to shoot an accurate shot! But you do need to focus on the front sight, whether it is clear or not, you just need to focus on it and align the FS to where you want to place the shot on the target. As long as you can see the outline of the rear and front sights and you focus on the FS, when breaking the shot, you will hit the target, where you want to. But you have to see the target clear enough to place that shot. And I believe as all as you focus on the FS, even blurry, you will be able to shoot well enough without going to extremes with your glasses. IMO
  22. get a 40. be done with it. if you get a 45, sooner or later you will ne thinking "shouldve got a 40"!!
  23. the companies do have the option to renew the experation date. just because you seen the experation date does not need they will not pay the fees to continue to be on the list. but who knows?????
