Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Could you talk about your observations between the 1301 comp and stoeger once you get a chance? I'm debating the same thing.
  2. Does anyone have any experience with the Panteao series of DVDs? Especially the ones on basic handgun/rifle/shotgun and the others that are more competition-centric.
  3. Does anyone here have any experience with running a PWS rifle in 3-gun? I like the features that it has, but I've read about things like the heat issue after rapid fire. There's also a few threads on how 18"-20" barrels seem to be the most popular, but it wasn't sure if that was an issue accuracy-wise or if it was in regards to recoil.
  4. Hello all, Does anyone here use a SIG 516 for competition (I.e. 3-gun)? I've read that it's heavier than a DI, but the uppers seem like a good deal, price-wise. Any words of caution or related experiences?
  5. I was looking at the California-approved list of handguns recently, and I noticed that a lot of them are slated to go away fairly soon. I've never owned a 1911, but I've always wanted one. Ideally, I'd like to try USPSA with it (along with some of the other shooting sports). It would be used for home defense as well. Generally speaking, I'd like fixed sights and ambi controls, but those are easily swappable later on if they don't have it. The springfield range officer seems to be getting decent reviews, and the s&w 1911s (non-e series) look nice as well. An external extractor isn't a deal breaker for me. My budget is around $1,200 (before fees). Would you guys recommend any others as well? S&W and Springfield seem to have great warranties, which is very important to me for the long haul.
  6. I read S&W recently (2012-2013) made changes to the stock trigger and barrel for the M&P. Does anyone have any experience with them? Do you still want an aftermarket trigger or barrel?
  7. From my understand it looks like you can't just buy the parts for the feeder assembly sans the collator, although there are some jerry-rigged examples that look promising.
  8. I came across this link (http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_6_42/349969__28_00_Bullet_feeder_for_Any_Progressive.html), and I thought it was pretty intriguing. Would this be possible for a case feeder as well? With the mechanism to place it on the shell plate, etc. Is it possible to buy the parts separately?
  9. From the threads, it seems like Winchester or CCI primers are the way to go.
  10. Is there a pretty good chance of bodily harm if a primer goes off? The prospect of a primer going off in my face (or hand) scares the heck out of me. The only real thing that keeps me from a 650.
  11. I've been reading threads on the Dillon 650 for the past few days, and I can't seem to get a good sense of how much of a problem detonating primers is with the machine. I've read that you shouldn't force things when something is stuck, but how easy is it to discern? Are there other precautions one can take to prevent such things from happening? Any aftermarket mods to protect your hands, etc? I've been reading up on the Dillon 650 and the Hornady LnL for weeks now, and it seems like the 650 is favored much more, but it seems that the LnL has less of a problem with primer detonations in particular. Although it (LnL) lacks the powder check if using a bullet feeder(?)
  12. I've never participated in a match, and I was curious about when you're informed of the way the stages will be run. Is it when you arrive, and go through a walk-through, etc(?) Or is there a diagram on a website someplace, for instance?
  13. Hello all, I've been looking over some of the previous topics on the M&P (9mm) accuracy. It sounds like the tolerances are pretty lose, and accuracy leaves a bit to be desired. Does the stock .40 barrel suffer from the same accuracy issues? Also, it seems like the Hornady XTP (124) and Zero (125?) bullets and titegroup is a good match. Is that the general consensus?
