  1. While I wasn't at the match.....the buzz for this particular stage has gone around.....and I've got to say I tend to agree with you.
  2. I would ship them an SJC Titan and have it permanently installed. I've shot many a POF with a Titan and it really calms a piston gun down. The guy that designed the Titan....Erik Lund, shot a POF for a few seasons. Now he is shooting for Sig and shoots the 556 rifle.....with a Titan. The 556 was pretty herky jerky without a brake. The 556 with only the Titan added is one of the softest 223 rifles I have ever shot. The Titan is truly an amazing comp. Oh.....and comps aren't going anywhere in the Tactical division.
  3. I've had my M&P Pro for a little over a month now and have been playing with it a fair amount before I start shooting it in Production. I've got just over a thousand rounds through it. I've been shooting a G34 for the past 2 years. I retired it at 133k rounds and bought the M&P to try something different after really liking the M&P since it came out. Without ever firing the gun....I did a trigger job on it,replaced the guiderod with a stainless captured rod and 13#ISMI spring and put a set of Dawson adjustable sights on it. I fired the first 300 rounds through it with the 13# spring. Just couldn't get the timing right with it. First shot was always poa/poi and the second always tended to be about 6" higher at about 1-2 o'clock unless I slowed my cadence way down to about .20 splits. Any time I shot faster than .15 splits it opened up. So I was thinking I was firing the second shot in recoil. I increased the spring to a 15# ISMI. Much better tracking but still not quite what I liked. My pairs were about 3" apart with .14-.15 splits. Next I increased my charge on my 131 pf 124gr loads by 3 tenths. I was getting somewhere now. The gun was cycling much better and it was keeping up with me. Just for kicks I stuck a factory Glock 17# spring in it. Glad I did becasue it was money for me. Timing was perfect and pairs were an inch apart at 10 yards. Checked my new load and it was 136pf. I never could run the G34 with anything heavier than a 13# ISMI spring. I found the M&P to be the total opposite.
  4. Happy Birthday John I know the last few weeks have been rough. I wish you the best. Happy Birthday to everyone else as well.
  5. I run the Winchester SX3 which is basically the same. I run it real wet with SLiP 2000 EWL and I ultrasonic clean the piston every 300 rounds. I've found that this action likes plenty of lube.
  6. I had just received my Brownells case a few days prior to the MS 3 gun match. It holds my AR,pistol and 26" barrelled Winchester SX3 just fine. But.....we got ALOT of rain and so did my guns. I'm gonna try the spray on stuff and hope next time everything inside does not get as wet. My other complaint about the Brownells case is that it does not have a shoulder strap but rather back pack straps only. the attachment points for the backpack straps also work poorly for attaching a shoulder strap. I remember talking to a shooter named Jamie McReynolds at Blue Ridge match this year. He said he had a bag in the works that was gonna be waterproof with a rubber coated type bottom that would hold a 26" barreled shotty and an AR along with a pistol and some other gear. His company is called Xcc which I think stood for Xtreme Competition Components or something to that effect.
  7. A6 multigun was awesome this year. I was glad to see the multigun format. Thanks to Cindy and Bill for always putting their heart and soul into providing us good matches with excellent administration. Thanks to the sponsors and especially Nordic Components for stepping up in such a big way. Jarmo and Tim.....you guys rock! Thanks to all the RO staff. And some of my biggest thanks goes out to Larry Turner. For those of you who do not know Larry.....without him...the stages we shoot just wouldn't be possible. To you guys that come shoot A6 pistol and multigun matches.....the stages probably look pretty awesome. But for us locals....its just another club match with more competition. We are lucky in the fact that we get to shoot Larry's stages every month as well as the indoor match he sets up every week. The same design and dedication goes into our weekly indoor match. We are truly spoiled by Larry Turner with his excellent stage design and setup talent. I was glad to see him presented with a nice shotgun as a small token of appreciation for all the hard work, blood, sweat and tears that he puts into our matches so that we can come out and have fun playing our game. THANK YOU LARRY TURNER
  8. I seriously believe this to be an isolated incident mostly centered around a certain run of STI mag springs. I've been using ISMI springs for years with never a single problem. Mark at ISMI believes the same and has had no other incidents in other spring lines.
  9. Very good info Jeff. I was gonna type a long reply up until I saw yours. Your experience speaks volumes. I'm pretty sure you've been doing this long enough. I know I've learned a ton from you. My only suggestion for the plates rather than paint is to tie fluorescent orange or red survey tape around the bases. Its easily replaceable and quite resilient to the spray of lead shot. Kirk,Chad and crew did a great job in my book all considered. They did their best to improve on shortcomings noted at other matches they have attended and they have been totally receptive to criticism. Unfortunately weasther is beyond all of our control. I assure you they are listening and it will be considered when planning for the 2nd Annual Ozarks 3 Gun Championship.....of which I plan on returning to. To all the new shooters that came to play.....good to meet the ones I met and hope to see y'all return to this match and others.
  10. The draw is so smooth and quick to release on the RT that the way it leans the muzzle in towards your leg....as it is drawn it straightens up. Not a problem at all for me. I did take my heat gun and contour the belt slide portion to match the contour of my waist and that alone stiffened it up a ton. I've passed that feedback along to Chris Stewart at RT. He said he is gonna test that change and may implement it in the future. In my opinion.....there is no faster kydex than the Ready Tac stuff. Very well made too. He made me some prototype mag pouches for production that hold the spine of the mag against the belt and bullets facing away.....and let me tell you......they are fast. 6 of them also fit in a relatively small area of real estate on the belt. He is probably going to be offering these as an option very soon since they have turned out to work so well.
  11. I had no problems with the .265" front. I adjusted about 7 clicks up to get my POI adjusted to my POA.
  12. I'd put alot of confidence into what Bobby is suggesting to you. His area of expertise is in long range shooting and he knows what hes talking about. Precision rifle is right up his alley. Me...personally....I like all the calibers based off the 308 parent case. Its hard to beat the 308 for beginners. It can do just about whatever you ask of it. For match shooting....I like the 6mm bullet selection of the .243. The 6.5mm bullets also have alot to offer. Talk to Bobby about the Desert Tactical. You can start with a 308 and later change the barrel and bolt for whatever you choose assuming the barrels are being made.
  13. Despite the horrible rain on Friday the match still went on and we managed to finish by dark. We took a few hours of breaks in between the heavy downpours hoping for them to stop. But at some point we had to decide whether to quit or get wet. I won't lie....I came real close to quitting since I was unprepared without my rainsuit or waterproof boots. I was soaked through and through. It says alot about a match when you've got 6 grown men out kicking mud on each other and still having a ball. It was still a fun match and I enjoyed myself. Sam and Chad and crew did a great job and worked hard to put this together despite the horrible weather. Stages were well designed and the new Polish Plate Rack or Penetrator or whatever it is to be named was really cool. I hope to see it at more matches. We finished at dark and headed out to MO for the Adams Arms Ozark 3 gun match. We got to our hotel about 4:30 in the morning and got our gear dried the best we could and re oiled our guns and were able to squeeze in an hour nap before we started shooting again. It was a busy and fun weekend. Congrats to Rob(ninja cock)Romero for two strong wins this weekend. Several folks also got to witness the Ninja Cock technique in person. And hats off to another fine job by the GM of stats...Linda Chico Sam and Chad......do it again next year and I'm sure we will do our best to make it back. Maybe next year we won't have to rush off so soon.
  14. This was a long weekend for us. We shot the Mississippi 3 gun on Friday in the pouring down rain and then drove all night to shoot this match on Saturday and Sunday. We shot 7 stages on an hour of rest after 40 hours. It was rough but turned out to be so worth it. Kirk and Chad.....you guys really did an excellent job. It just makes it that much harder for you to out do yourselves next year. To all those first match skeptics out there. This was a great run match at a beautiful facility. Kirk and Chad ran around keeping things very fluid like they've done this a few times before. They had the great disciple of Linda Chico running stats and she knocked it out of the park as expected. Good job Sandra!!! Stages were great. Terrain was excellent for a natural terrain match. The mud sucked but that was about the worst complaint. The poker chip was a cool theme. I hate to see it go away. Hopefully next year the weather will be more cooperative to allow some more distance for the rifle. Best of all is that Chad,Kirk and crew were receptive to constructive criticism to help them improve and grow this match to be one of the premier matches to attend. I see a bright future for the match should they accept to continue. Thanks to all the sponsors and especially Adams Arms. Without you guys.....our sport would not be possible. Already looking forward to next year.
  15. Have a good ride home. Are you going to allow Rob to drive this time? We made him drive. This is the first time in two years he has ever been behind the wheel. Usually....he sits in the back and just sleeps and farts.
  16. Range and stages looked great. The Polish star looks fun as hell. Not easy but fun. Just hoping for decent weather. I asked Sam....."where'd the Polish star come from?" Without hesitation he said Poland.
  17. 8" since Thursday? We got 16" since 9pm last night here in Douglasville,GA. They are calling this FLOOD 2009. It has reached 100 year flood status. We are currently in a state of emergency. As of now.....I just hope I can still make it. We have no water and power is intermittent. My house is actually OK,but my neighbors and friends are in pretty bad shape. Every bridge and water crossing has roads shut down. Can't hardly navigate because everything is gridlocked. So far there have been 7 deaths associated with the flooding. Hope I can make it to shoot with you guys.
  18. I get mine from Chris at CPWSA. They are chrome silicon springs from Nordic components. You cut them to fit your tube. Its a good idea to get a an extra or two to keep on hand.
  19. When we tested the Cobb rifles.....the standard scope was a 16x Leupold Mk4. It was mounted in a Larue 50BMG mount and moved amongst many rifles to fire the test groups. It never failed. Several NF,S&B,USO,and Zeiss scopes were used without fail. The one scope that did fail was a Super Sniper. The rifle was sitting on the tailgate of the truck and another range member backed into the front of the truck causing the rifle on the tailgate to flip off and land right on the top adjustment knob and breaking it off the scope. We tested the scope on the rifle and it was shooting about 3' low into the dirt. But before that......the SS worked fine.
  20. More than likely you will have to fit new safeties. But.....a good smith may be able to weld up or peen your current safeties for contact to block the sear.
  21. Just got two of the Magpul BADS......now they are the heat. Very nicely made pieces.
  22. Ben....I hope you continue to rock the Beretta.....which I'm sure-since you have 7 of them-you have no intention of changing. I always think its cool to make such huge accomplishments like you have with a somewhat non standard or unpopular type gun for the sport. Berettas rock! Berettas are extremely reliable blasters when run with Beretta mags. I'm sure the problem you are experincing will be an easy fix. Ben.....good job at Nationals in accomlishing the goals you set out to do. Look forward to your break down and diagnosis for your coming year training plan.
  23. I've shot near a 2000 rounds from the BA and FA when it was Cobb Mfg. I used to help Skip assemble and test fire them before he was purchased by Bushmaster. Very nice guns.
  24. YEP.....good stuff and works great with Solo 1000 powder. I use the 125's in 9mm and the 185's in 40
  25. The Ready Tactical does not have the problem that the BladeTechs do with the thumb cramping. The Ready Tactical is a much slicker and faster holster than the BladeTech in my opinion. I've also had problems in the past of guns binding in the BladeTechs. Never have I had one bind in the Ready Tac.
