  1. Maybe its just me but the writing style of The Road was horrible. It just drove me crazy to the point I didn't read but half the book.
  2. I think you will like the Bobro. I'm really digging it. I've always run Larue mounts but think the Bobro is a good solid mount. As soon as they make a high Bobro that equals the height of my 1.93, I think I'll switch. I have seen some guys running the taller mounts in three gun. Why is that. personal prefrence, body type, or to compensate for bullet drop at longer range? Fill me in. thanks Pat Mostly personal preference. I mount the rifle very inboard and the stock sits on my clavicle with a squared up stance. I like the high scope position for a quick mount and a heads up picture through my scope. It has alot to do with body type as well. Some folks have longer necks and cheek their stocks differently. It all boils down to what works for you. I play hell trying to get behind a scope with a 1/2" lower mount. The taller mounts were made so that low power scopes(namely the S&B Short Dot) would clear over the top of the IR lasers like the PEQ2.

  4. Most definitely get the +6 or longer tube since you have the 24" barrel. +6 will give you 9 in the tube and be almost flush with the end of the barrel and plug as necessary dependant on match rules. I'd also go ahead and do the ghost load mod. It really does come in handy. Its one of those things--that its better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
  5. A great match,at a great club, full of great folks put on by the great pillow huncher. Can't wait!
  6. Jim makes many good points. Rules are one thing and consequence is another. By laxing consequence due to common sense judgement does not put our safety rules in jeopardy. Our rules really don't prevent anything. Its ultimately up to the shooter pressing the trigger to be preventative. You can have all the rules in the world.....but it still takes a level of common sense to apply some of them. Unfortunately interpretation is subjective.
  7. Oh goodness. Best wishes and prayers for your Mom. We're thinking of you guys Brian. If you are anything like me.....you're a mess right now.
  8. +1 I've never had to tune the first SJC Titan....but I guess its nice to have the capability.
  9. Read this. Ordered one. Received it. PROBLEM! It is 1/3-16 in diameter. To big around to use in anything but open class. Screwed it on anyway to see if it worked as described. For me,"normal body, stance, grip," it moved sharply to the right. Funny thing, all very fast double taps at 35 yds were in the center. My timing, don,t know? Anyway, called them, they said they were working on a legal one for our game and would exchange it for the one I have. Take care. I got one too but got it knowing it was only legal for Open and not so much designed for competitions as much as it was made for shear durability to withstand repeated full auto firing . But my intention was for Full Auto. But on a 10.5" gun it made a huge difference and looks mean as hell on the end of the muzzle. We could basically mag dump and the dot never left the center mass of the US Popper(fixed position) we were shooting at. Even one handed. We took it off and shot it naked muzzle and it climbed over a foot above the target. It also does a great job of taming flash. We took some great video of it in action and I will be sending it to Robert at GoGun for use on his website. I do look forward to checking out the competition version.
  10. I've already got one on my backup upper and several others of us are running the new VTAC Xtreme and it is the heat. Very sturdy and light. I just did not want to break my rifle down til after Benning although I want it on there now.
  11. For 3 gun purposes, that counts as 2 optics and puts you into Open division, where you're shooting against pistols with comps and optic sights, and shotguns with speedloaders and box mags. You can legally use it in Tactical, but you have to keep the magnifier in the same place (either flipped to the side or behind the dot sight) for the entire match. Actually it no longer does. It has been interpreted that there is only one aiming point. That the magnifier cannot operate on its own as an aiming device. Fine for Tac Optics as long as it stays attached to the rifle for the endurance of the match.
  12. I have liked the stage DQ penalty that has shown up at some matches recently. Its still a DQ.....but from the stage. Basically that shooter receives a zero for the stage. Consequence may not be as bad as a match DQ....but its still bad. I think there are plenty of instances where a stage DQ would be more appropriate than a match DQ.
  13. I don't care for it one bit. Flimsy aluminum barrel nut and once the tube is glued on its pretty much on there. It is ultralight though.
  14. The new VTAC/Troy Extreme rails seen here are going to be an awesome option for 3 gun rifles. It comes with user configurable rail sections and has a full length top rail that lines up perfectly with the top rail of your receiver. It is the slimmest handguard available when no rail sections are added. And it is very light in weight and able to be quickly removed if need be. The 13" handguard without added rail sections weighs 12.7 ounces with the barrel nut. My PRI carbon fiber competition(12")handguard weighs 12.3 ounces with the barrel nut. There have been some matches where having a 2" diameter handguard has made it difficult to engage targets through some tough horizontal and angled slotted ports. This handguard should allow a much better position in many of these awkward slots as well. I am replacing my PRI after Fort Benning with the 13" rail for next season.
  15. I'd say a bit better than fair if its in good shape. $500 would be smokin. They can no longer be had by Winchester. They are now the FN SLP MkI and they seem to sell for about $900. You are speaking of the 22" Practical correct and not just an SX2 with extension?
  16. Yes.....assuming its the SX2 Practical....that is a great deal for a 3gun shotgun. Upsides....ready to rock out of the box. Downsides......it weighs 8#.
  17. Saw that article and heard about it on the news and thought it may negatively affect the match and possibly cause it to be cancelled. Thought maybe BigHamp would chime in.
  18. With the onset of the new Fort Benning threat yesterday......everything still good for the match?
  19. Thank you. Any issues with reliable feeding?
  20. Awww man......can't believe I didn't get in before it filled up. This is a great match and for an awesome cause. I look forward to it every year. Fingers crossed this year.
  21. To bridge the gap.....what if someone were to be a competitive shooter(a very good one) with tactical experience? There are many of us out there.
  22. Good read Tim. It confirms most of what I have found in my patterning with the shot I use. I use alot of Trap and Skeet loads in mostly #9 and some #8.
  23. Your friend is right.....the lighter pellets in a more dense pattern tend to group in a tighter pattern but loose velocity much faster at distance. The heavier shot tends to not fly as dense and they actually open more over the same distance as the lighter pellets. But the heavier pellets still retain more energy at a further distance than the light pellets. Basically the lighter pellets travel tighter but peter out faster than the heavier pellets that disperse a bit more but retain more energy at greater distance. That make any sense to you? I use #9's 95% of the time in 3 gun and use my chokes to adjust the pattern depending on the distance to target.
  24. They actually sponsored several this year. I know I saw banners at A6 Multigun and Blue Ridge Multigun too.
